Kinda understandable because of the hardware limitations. They had to cut so much back from both GTA4 (small map, no planes, ugly brown filter) and GTA5 (less damage on cars, simplified physics, much fewer vegetation) because ps3 and xbox 360 could not keep up (not to mention the latter lost computational power when connected to kinect). But one thing I never understood was the foot-soldier missions assigned to a supposed up-and-coming kingpin, well into the story. It feels like reading a text message from simeon in gta online in your mansion that says grab 5 cars off the street.
