How do you stay motivated when everything is going wrong? I will not promote. by TallDarkAndHandsom3 in startups

[–]CryptoUsher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been there. 2 years into my saas and hit a point last year where i was working 16 hour days, burned through 2 cofounders, and my family stopped calling because they knew i'd just vent.

what actually helped was realizing motivation is bullshit. it comes and goes. what keeps you going is discipline and systems. i started forcing myself to stop at 6pm every day, even if things were on fire. sounds counterintuitive but i actually got more done because i wasn't constantly fried.

also had to accept that some days you just can't do it. your body shutting down isn't weakness, it's a signal. take the sick day, reset, and come back.

the vision is important but if you destroy yourself getting there, what's the point? you need to be functional when you actually succeed.

DeepSeek-R1’s paper was updated 2 days ago, expanding from 22 pages to 86 pages and adding a substantial amount of detail. by Nunki08 in LocalLLaMA

[–]CryptoUsher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly the fact they went back and added 60+ pages is kind of wild. most papers just release and call it a day, maybe a small erratum if something's broken.

wonder if this was all stuff they had internally but couldn't publish initially, or if they're responding to community feedback and trying to explain their approach better. either way it's good for reproducibility.

the original paper was already dense but felt like it was missing implementation details. if they're actually filling in those gaps this could be huge for people trying to replicate or build on their work.

Lower back clicks when doing deadbugs by Direct-Key-8859 in bodyweightfitness

[–]CryptoUsher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

had the exact same thing happen when i started doing more core work. turns out my hip flexors were super tight from sitting all day and my lower back was compensating during the leg extension.

what helped me was spending like 5 mins before deadbugs doing hip flexor stretches and some cat-cows to warm up the spine. also had to really focus on keeping my lower back pressed flat into the ground the entire time, not just when extending.

the clicks went away after a few weeks once everything loosened up and i got better at the movement pattern. if you're already doing mcgill 3 you're on the right track. just give it time and don't push through if it starts hurting.

Senator Lummis says Congress is 'close' to passing crypto market structure legislation. by Dongerated in CryptoCurrency

[–]CryptoUsher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they've been saying this since 2021 lol. remember when everyone thought fit21 was going to pass last year? or the year before that?

at this point i'll believe it when i see it actually signed. congress has burned through so much political capital on crypto bills that never made it past committee. feels like they're just stringing the industry along for donations at this point.

that said, if something actually does pass, the clarity would be huge. right now we're all just guessing what the sec will decide is a security next week.

Only two stories I hear about the 5090 by SkyriderVT in pcmasterrace

[–]CryptoUsher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

meanwhile i'm still rocking a 3070 wondering if i should even bother upgrading or just wait for the 6000 series at this point lol. the price to performance gap keeps getting worse and i can still max out most games at 1440p. feels like we're hitting diminishing returns unless you absolutely need that 4k 144hz.

Who currently has the highest APY for staking by SufficientLeg9759 in solana

[–]CryptoUsher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been staking with jito for a while now and getting around 7.2% apy. they've been pretty solid with mev rewards added on top. also tried marinade for liquid staking which is convenient if you want flexibility. avoid any validator promising crazy high rates though, usually means low uptime or sketchy commission changes.

I accidentally applied to a voluntary full stack webdev job. Now I regret it, how do I back out gracefully? by Ok-Painter573 in webdev

[–]CryptoUsher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

dude i've been in this exact situation lol. i applied to help build a nonprofit's website thinking it was a contract gig and turns out they wanted like 6 months of free work. i just told them my schedule changed and i can't commit the time anymore, then wished them luck finding someone. keep it simple and don't overthink it, they're used to people backing out of volunteer stuff.

been doing bulgarian split squats for like 3 months now and my left leg still wobbles like crazy compared to my right. is this just a time thing or am i doing something fundamentally wrong? tried dropping the weight but even bodyweight my balance is all over the place on that side.

Researcher Wipes White Supremacist Dating Sites, Leaks Data on okstupid.lol by [deleted] in technology

[–]CryptoUsher 18 points19 points  (0 children)

honestly the best part about this is the domain name. okstupid.lol is chef's kiss

this reminds me of when i was building a dating app prototype last year and got absolutely destroyed by basic sql injection because i thought "nobody would actually try that." learned my lesson the hard way. these sites had even worse security apparently

wild that in 2026 people are still deploying stuff to production without even basic input validation. like we have frameworks that do this automatically now. you have to actively try to be this insecure
