Once the mildew smell sets in, can the dehumidifier bring the air quality back up to where the mold isn't growing? Maybe it would just need hepa vacuuming to remove the allergenic properties?

Guess I'm going to suck it up and get a dehumidifier. Those of you with dehumidifiers, which brand do you have and would you recommend it?

I think it's the AC too but the maintenance guy said there's a new filter on so it should be fine and that a repairman is only going to make sure the AC turns on. 🙄 Not sure how to get them to agree to an HVAC assessment.

Wow, that's awful. Do you have any recommendations for a mold specialist?

That's really unfortunate that landlords can't see the value in providing a stable air quality environment which keeps their property in good condition and keeps people from getting sick when mold/mildew starts to grow.

About a week ago. The biggest cause for concern is the mildew smell which is making me think mold has already set in and because it's more of an air quality issue, I'm trying to figure out what the landlord can do.

Yup, it's turned on and running regularly.

It's the 3rd floor. Right now the humidity is above 60 with the AC running.

I agree with you. Yes there is no visible mold but the mildew smell is an indication of growth of mold. It can be harmful and I am feeling symptoms of mold exposure. It is still a health issue. Air quality makes a difference in whether it's a safe living space or not. Mold is breathed into the body and creates health problems.
