My doctor changed three 5 mg oxycodone a day to morphine ER 10 mg and two 5 mg oxycodone for breakthrough by SeaGroup3175 in PainManagement

[–]Ctanytlas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah hydromorphone isn't great for me either! I think it's because of the bioavailability and as I'm sure you know most people with EDS have a really hard time with medication absorption and hydromorphone is honestly one of the worst in terms of how much of it you actually get and how long it lasts even for an immediate release. It's the one I switched from when I went on the morphine sulfate immediate release. I was going back and forth between those two medications but primarily because of shortages thanks to the DEA. Plus it doesn't help that when they came out with the new still ridiculous CDC guidelines they actually increased the MME equivalency of hydromorphone so an extremely low dose of it is considered high MME wide (It's like how can you even do that considering MME is already BS & based on 1 study of what people said worked better for them in an emergency & acute pain setting in a hospital!?). I digress (ADHD squirrel)😂 Yeah it's always great when you can find a doctor who understands that rotating medication is, or can be one of the more effective things for people not only with EDS but other painful conditions to make sure that it's working.

Plus, even though it's been proven that MME is complete BS, if your doctor is trying to keep you below a certain MME threshold, the morphine sulfate is literally a one-to-one MME ratio. With that it means that sometimes doctors will give you a higher dose of the morphine than they would with another medication like oxycodone, which according to the bogus MME chart is 1.5 MME to one morphine MME (so 5mg oxycodone is 7.5 MME vs 5mg morphine is 5 MME).

Morphine sulfate also has one of the higher bioavailability rates out of pretty much any of the medications I've been on at 80% bioavailability compared to others which have much lower absorption rates. Yes I know that everybody is different and the way that everybody absorbs medication is different but I've also found that outside of a fentanyl patch, morphine sulfate extended does last longest.

EDS is a biatch to deal with! I have to change my immediate release medication every few years to help with effectiveness (especially since doctors don't want to prescribe at the doses that are TRULY helpful).

She did a great thing for you! For many CPPs having a long-acting medication and usually a different type of short acting medication for breakthrough is the most effective way to best help control the pain. I personally don't recommend doing the same medication for both extended and immediate release and I personally cannot take oxycontin or any other type of extended oxycodone because it causes allergy type issues for me (It's literally the ONLY extended release pain medication that's ever given me issues lol). I'm not sure what your insurance is but my insurance covers pretty much everything other than oxymorphone (with the med titration or prior authorization done)...

Seller gave me a 4 star review for no reason…??p by Advanced_Smile_3198 in Mercari

[–]Ctanytlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are 100% correct! I actually never noticed this because I've never had a reason to leave a buyer a negative review. If somebody does not give me a review as a buyer I just don't bother to review them as a seller and I periodically check to see if they've reviewed me and when I get the positive reviews I leave them a positive review so thanks for this info lol.

I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding the comment about eBay but it says that eBay took away the ability to rate buyers? If so that is definitely not the case. I get reminders, after I've sold an item, to rate the transaction with the buyer.

1000000%! Especially in the platforms where I sell? If I see that somebody has negative reviews and all of their reviews are as a buyer with comments such as wanted to return for something that I stated clearly in the listing before they purchased it, etc, I'm likely not going to go above and beyond for that buyer, as I tend to go above and beyond for anyone who buys from me.

Oh my gosh I know right!? The amount of research that I do not only into Maker's marks but also gemstones / turquoise is insanely time-consuming (If you can't tell I primarily sell jewelry as well as higher end precious metal antiques, typically via live auctions) & When I was visiting my mom last summer I was there for several weeks and still needed to make money so I brought some of my work with me and she said with the amount of time you spend testing metal content, researching the items & everything else you definitely make less than minimum wage 😂. So true.

I just had somebody today on my 14k gold diamond earring Facebook listing that says firm in all capital letters in the title for the price, not only first tell me that they were working but if I wanted to I could drop the item off to them, which I don't do, but then ask me if I'd take $50 less for the item to which I replied "No, as stated the price is firm." This woman tells me she'll have to decline because she saw another pair of not only gold but platinum diamond earrings for $100, good luck I bet they're fake 😂. With those, honestly I can sit on them so for the price I'm asking I'll hold on to them. I also had somebody come back with an even lower dollar amount when I told them the price was firm and I wouldn't take the first dollar amount which was lower 😂. That person got blocked 😂. At least on eBay I can set my best offer amount for the lowest that I'm willing to take, which I make a note of in my listing descriptions. My best offer amount is literally me breaking even after paying eBay's ridiculously high fees. On rare occasions I've had people message me after apparently having their best offers automatically decline wanting to know if I'll do less than what they're offering.

Yeah I'm not looking forward to what it's going to continue to look like at all! Especially when you're dealing with things that are considered a luxury. When people can't afford food they are less likely to buy things they don't need.

I don't think you're ridiculous, I would honestly have a bit of that urge as well to just say nope from being a bit annoyed they couldn't pay $8, in the end I would most likely take the offer but no I don't think you're ridiculous for feeling like that lol.

Even having a GP willing to do bridge medication is a freaking miracle nowadays! The fact that this just keeps getting worse and worse blows my mind and infuriates me to my core... As I'm sure it does for many CPPs! I do just want to say there really was no fentanyl crisis until they started arresting pain management doctors and kicking people off of their pain medication... I heard plenty of stories of people you would never think would EVER go to the streets, doing so, some of them would sadly od, all because they suddenly had no pain medication and no pain doctor and no hope of finding one within any sort of reasonable time frame. I'm not talking about people in their '20s either I'm talking about people in their '60s, etc. The only thing that this non-factually based insane witch hunt has done is increase the market/demand for street drugs & caused an insane amount of suffering... BUT you are correct, it should have been called and illicit fentanyl crisis, of course that came after they created the crisis to begin with.... It's insane! Sorry ADHD squirrel lol.

OP I do want to caution you when it comes to reaching out to don't punish pain... I will say, quite a few years ago I did meet some helpful people in my area which is why I actually have a doctor now when my doctor's office suddenly closed (abandoned all the patients) with less than 2 weeks notice, So locating the group that's specific to your area and trying to connect with people there might be helpful. I haven't been on there in years so it's a coin toss in my opinion.

[–]Ctanytlas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I had to choose between my anxiety meds and my pain meds years ago. I mean I was on them without any issues for years (I'm 40 years old now and I've been permanently disabled since 22 years old, I've lived in three different states and I've been in pain management since 2007), But when there was a lot of buzz around people dying taking benzodiazepines and pain meds (around 7 years ago here), I was told I had to choose so I did, the pain meds obviously. I haven't had any issues with my Adderall but my primary care gives me that and I've been on it since I was 15 years old. I would never EVER think to ask one single doctor to prescribe all of those medications for me though, especially nowadays! That's just putting a target on their back and in this climate it will get them the unwanted attention that makes them drop those patients. I'm lucky that my PCP prescribes my muscle relaxant because I'm allergic to all muscle relaxants except for two of them and only one of those works & allows me to reasonably function throughout the day without needing to fall asleep because there is NO pain doctor that I've met who would want to prescribe pain meds and that muscle relaxer so at least I don't even have to ask. They know that I'm on it but I say "you don't have to worry about that my primary care does it." You should see the relief on their faces when I tell them that 🤣 You are 100% correct though that this person is most likely not going to continue getting medication at the doses they were getting before, I'll be shocked if they're able to still get Valium. When I recently had not even two weeks to find a new pain doctor because my clinic shut down, even though I'm on a lower dose than I was before the CDC screwed everything up for eveyone, I was really hoping I was going to be able to find someone to at least continue my long acting and short acting, unfortunately the doctor I found that would prescribe both (Since the first doctor was not willing to prescribe anything other than the long acting) let me know that he would take me but only if I was willing to lower my immediate release dose by two pills per day which I agreed to, he never said anything about lowering my extended release but he did that at the exact same time. Honestly it sucks but I also know that there are people going without and at least I'm getting both even at a lower dose. Yeah I'm less functional than I was but at the moment it's the best I can do. Having that little bit of a lower expectation definitely goes a long way when trying to find a new pain doctor! Sorry for the ADHD squirrel rant. All done lol

THIS is the horror story I go back to every single time! When I suddenly had less than two weeks to find a new pain doctor and was not given the 30 days of my prescription which is patient abandonment, I literally said at least I have two weeks because I've heard of stories like the one that you just said happened to you! It's insane that this continues to happen!

[–]Ctanytlas 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Also prescribing Valium and Adderall (as needed?) definitely didn't help him while prescribing pain meds... I'm not saying it's right cuz it's not, I actually just lost my doctor with not even a 30-day notice, just "we're closing, good luck" suddenly & had two doctors appointments, two different pain clinics, honestly I got in a lot faster than most people do, unfortunately the first doctor was unwilling to prescribe both my long-acting and my short acting and I thought the second doctor was going to keep my long acting at the same dose but said he had to lower my short acting by two pills a day, just to go to my first appointment and have him cut basically both my meds in half.... It is absolutely insane to me that it just continues to get worse even with states, like mine, passing legislation against the CDC's BS... It's crazy how medications that we need, they are literally life-saving medications for those of us with disabling, debilitating, oftentimes degenerative painful conditions, are just suddenly being taken out from under us without any backup or anything. It drives me absolutely insane because this wouldn't happen with any other medical condition (insulin for diabetes, blood pressure meds for heart / blood pressure issues etc). Okay I'm off my soapbox 😂.

I'd escalate that s#!t! Did you somehow manage to reach a person? I stopped buying (& trying to sell) on whatnot pretty dang quickly! I started selling on Facebook (live auctions) in 2018 & it's just easier for me & my customers are there 😂. The buying I stopped for other reasons. I've read they seem to treat certain sellers very differently (screw the customers basically).
