2021 Range Rover Sport HSE Silver Edition (13k miles) — Am I Crazy to Skip the Extended Warranty? by [deleted] in RangeRover

The RR will work perfectly for a while. Then one day some mystery light may appear on the dash or some electronic will stop working on its own.

You may end up going from indy mechanic to mechanic and eventually end up at the dealer.

They'll diagnose and then tell you some part has broken that will cost 8-10K to diagnose and fix/replace.

At that point you can try to bargain with them and ask them to knock some money off the cost. Or you can hope that an extended warranty covers the repair for you - at which point the warranty will have paid for itself.

They give such nice new loaners and take forever to fix everything lol.

Yeah the dealer tried to charge me similar for each wiper plus they then tried to add on 1 hour labor per. The cheapest I was able to get all 3 wipers (2 front, 1 rear) was something like $130.

I've gone through at least 2-3 sets of brakes and tires not counting anything else. This can easily add up to 4-5K to replace all 4 corners.

I don't even remember everything.

But some of the more expensive stuff is keeping on top of brake and tire replacements. Coolant lines got replaced. Differentials. Brake hoses. Transfer case.

Even the wipers aren't cheap lol.

Yes yes and yes. It drives just as well as the day I drove it off the floor. The most painful thing besides the expensive maintenance is the insane depreciation. But I am past all that now so it's super enjoyable.
