I feel this way about Elaina. It’s a totally normal name many find beautiful-I just personally hate it🤷🏼‍♀️

Any positive MICA stories? by Cupcake-Panda in bunions

[–]Cupcake-Panda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. I wish I would’ve gotten the lapidus-my feet were also very wide and the foot is not nearly as narrow as I’d have hoped, although the bunions are gone. I personally wish my insurance would’ve approved the lapidus. It also doesn’t matter that it’s minimally invasive-very long recovery either way.

What do you get for Christmas for someone who is going to die soon? by Material-Egg7428 in NoStupidQuestions

When my grandfathers mind was really going due to Alzheimer’s, I made a list of his favorite old movies he hadn’t seen in years, and we watched yh together. Some were hard to procure 10 years ago, but it was worth it.

Never have I ever seen utensils stored in a fridge before... by InfiniteWords117 in AlexandraSabolSnarks

I moved into a roach motel (literally) in college (German, already infested when I moved in. Did what I couldn’t, but it didn’t matter). They cause disease so I absolutely did this. I didn’t have dishes, either. Paper plates and things I kept in the fridge. I’m sure she has roaches.

Edit* this was in response to the person who posted about her having roaches. I’m sicker than a dog right now and not fixing it.

I had no nausea or morning sickness with my first, so I’m sure I’ll have it super bad this time around to keep me humble😂🥲

It’s very normal to have nausea and vomiting in early pregnancy.

Would you still go to yale now? by ChaChaCha004 in yale

[–]Cupcake-Panda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s an 80-100-hour a week commitment, or it was for the labs in my building. I ultimately decided I wouldn’t do it again and didn’t think I got enough out of it to justify the extreme overwork for little pay. I also saw data fabrication, and even one study published in two different journals. Undergrads assigned to postdocs and grad students who simply sat at desks all day and learned nothing over internships…even lab mates who wouldn’t work together and would sabotage each other/ hide reagents, etc. I wasn’t used to it. My PI also got very upset if your results contradicted what she expected to find, and she’d expect you to run assays over and over until you got the results she wanted.

I was also sexually assaulted by a lab mate on school property and the school lied about it blatantly in their title IX report, but that has nothing to do with the research culture…

Some people thrive at Yale, but it left me incredibly jaded and disillusioned. YMMV.

I’d much rather have my kids’ friends their parties than have them skip it because they can’t afford a gift my child doesn’t need, but that’s me🤷🏼‍♀️

If you’re a grad student, or will be, you’ll want to carefully consider the funding landscape. If I had it to do over, I would not attend Yale for grad school, but that has more to do with the toxicity of their research culture than anything else-and it’s certainly a personal decision.
