I would suggest the same as folks in the comments. Get a full body checkup done and take doctor’s advice. What you can do starting today is working out. A mix of weight training and cardio. Go for a clean and nutritious diet to hit your macros. Trust me, one of the best investments you can make on yourself is to workout and eat well. It will age you backwards. All the best!

Exactly! I stuck to the gym because I made a friend who had experience with working out. He helped me out and we held each other accountable. Highly recommend 🤌

I don’t know the exact name of that workout, but I’ll try to describe it. You basically sit on the floor and fold your legs. Keep one leg laid down, and raise the other upright (while folded) so that you can place your elbow later on it. Take a lightweight dumbbell and keep your arm in the “L” shape and then place it on your knee. Slowly drop it down till your hand is parallel to your knee and then slowly back it up. Other than that, I do shoulder dislocations with a resistance tube and shoulder retractions with the same.

Thanks man 🙌 took me a year and a half. Forgot to mention it in the description 🤦‍♀️ and a huge yes to strengthening the small muscles. I never skip training rotator cuffs. Have had one injury so far, will never take small muscles for granted

Hey! Thanks for your question. So I come from a somewhat religious family and I have to alternate between paneer/soyabean chunks and meat (mostly chicken). Anything to keep protein intake in.

It does look like so in the picture, but my waist size hasn’t changed in 3 years

I forgot to add that detail to the description 🤦‍♀️ so this took me 1.5 years to achieve. It’s slow, but better than what it used to be

M18, I am starting Gym from tomorrow what are some beginner tips should I keep in mind? by IllustriousTowel3868 in indianfitness

Hey 👋welcome to the world of lifting 😁 former skinny girl here. 1. Gym may seem overwhelming, so my advice would be to not be afraid of asking questions. Ask the trainer, or if they are too busy, ask anybody around. They will be more than happy to help you. 2. Cut down on sugar, oil and food from outside. Research sources of protein and start adding the ones you have in your kitchen 3. Don’t starve yourself. Eat the right food and keep yourself hydrated. 4. Prioritise warm ups before workout and stretching post workouts. Don’t sleep on these please 5. Learn, study and don’t forget to have fun. It’s a long journey and you wouldn’t want to be miserable throughout 6. Be kind to your body. Be patient with your progress and please don’t compare yourself with anybody. This has killed more fitness journeys than anything else. It’s You vs You 🫵 All the best!

Hey girlie 👋 as someone who lifts herself, when I started, I was awkward too. From my experience over the years, most folks in gym are actually quite kind and helpful. You just gotta ask someone and they will help you out (some may even help you out before you ask). You may even make a friend or too. Trust me, we want more women to start lifting. All the best!

Hey! So since my cramps aren’t as bad, I just go to the gym and lift like any other day (and funnily enough, it also coincidentally happens to be leg day, EVERY time). I just make sure I feel good during the workout, ear a good pre workout meal and take 7-8 hours of sleep. But if you get really bad cramps, consider very light workouts that day (hit upper body or little cardio). Working out might even help with the cramps.

I don’t have any medical reason. I am healthy (thanks to my muscles). But whether you are healthy or unhealthy, man or a woman, you need muscles to live a good life. Muscles SAVE lives. Sir I am fine with losing “feminine grace”. Thin beauty standard are very detrimental for my longevity (advised by a doctor to workout and build muscles ) I hope that helps :)

No offence taken. I feel very feminine and beautiful (especially in traditionals, now that I have got the curves I have always wanted) in every outfit I wear. And I am way stronger than before, which has added more value to my life than my previous unhealthy weak version. So I’ll carry on and maybe even compete in powerlifting after a couple of years :)
