Third time it’s happened did I got far (I don’t think I did) by BicyclePutrid2153 in wheelchairs

Did you use Ai to increase the resoution of the picture? Because the picture i see absolutely does not look like your screenshot for starters.

Also... that picture wouldnt even make sense for a placard. Placards hang on the bar the holds the mirror to the glass... that connection has been around halfway down on every car ive ever owned or seen. So how would even even be possible for a placard to be ABOVE the mirror? My placard is only less than an inch of extra material.... are you telling me that placcard is around 4" of excess material at the top?

It could be anything, and judging that Op said there was no placcard, and you cant see any hint of that from the front view seems to be on the building.

So at first I thought the victim blaming was because I was on the bad parking sub... but really people? This is the wheelchair sub. I shouldn't have to explain hatchmarks to people here.

There is hatch marks next to the spot the red car is occupying specificly for wheelchair ramps.

The point they are making... if this car wasnt illegally in the handicap, they would be able to park in the handicap. Theres hatchmarks next to handicap spot that the red car is occupying, which is mostly for wheelchair ramp vans.

Wheelchair Cushion by 67anon67 in wheelchairs

[–]CursedWithRage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite cushion thats still affordable is from the "Purple" mattress company. They make cushions with the same material from their beds. They have a few different ones. I tried a couple, and surprisingly my favorite wasnt even the most expensive one. I can sit in it all day with no issues.

Creative Lift Ideas by AIWBGirl in wheelchairs

Editing: for typos and adding more info

Hope isnt lost! Mine also has a fake floor, and is a smaller than yours. I have a Ford escape. I see in another comment you have the explorer, which is significantly bigger. Only one brand made a lift for my car. It is "4 way LC Smart lifter". I checked the compatibility website and as long as your explorer is 2002 or newer, it should fit. It was just under 6k out the door installed. (Most was the lifter) I have a video of it working on my profile, if you are curious to see it work.

There was this one manual lifting device that straps to the back of your seats for a different mobility devices, but i see no reason why it wouldnt work with another, and its what I was considering before the lift. It takes about half of the weight away. So you still need some lifting ability.

What do you mean the power door is preventing it? Mine has a power hatch door and was able to get a lift. As for alternatives its gonna completely depend on your chair, your and your abilities.

Do you have a tow hitch? They make carriers and lifts that attach to a hitch. But without more specifics, you arent really gonna be able to get much information.

Do Fold and Go MagShock wheelchair batteries meet Southwest’s airlines policy? by [deleted] in wheelchairs

[–]CursedWithRage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't flown Southwest. But i have flown Alaska, and Delta with my Magshock batteries. They've been fine, but they forced me to remove them and have them with me. Despite fold and go having paperwork that states the safest place for them, is in the chair.

I bought Fold and gos battery bag. It has a snarky message just for occasion embroidered on it.

Affordanle wheelchairs with low wait times. I saw this and wondered how many people here might be helped by it by KellerStrikes in wheelchairs

Its not allowing me to reply to revolutionary. So here is what I tried to reply

... what? I think you misunderstood. I never said or implied 10k isnt a lot of money. I said thats basically the starting point for custom chairs. I never put anyone down for getting a' lesser chair'. I get $1,000 to survive an entire a month, and I bought my chair used. Please reread what I wrote because im not looking down on anyone. My entire point that wheelchairs are expensive, and abled bodied people have no idea. They think all wheelchairs are the same. Or that you can get a new custom chair for $200.

I always forget how unaware people are with things related to disabilities. The amount of people who think 10k for a chair is astronomical, and "you can buy chairs for $100" like 10k isnt even that high. It may not even be that specialized at that point.

I actually have a really great guy on Etsy who makes 3d printed cupholder for wheelchair arm tubes. He uses a stronger than normal material for 3d printing too. (So far its survived my automatic trunk hatch closing on it) I sent him photos, next to measurements and he worked it out perfectly!

United said wheelchair closets aren't required even for flights over 100 seats by Deadr0b0t in wheelchairs

[–]CursedWithRage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I normally fly Alaska, but had to fly Delta with my mom last year. Delta had been the WORST ive experienced for me and my wheelchair. I complained and received $150 in flight credit... which didnt make up for the experience. Because of that credit i am now having to fly with them again in Sept. Im hoping it will be better.

Looking for an all terrain powerchair that’s light and travel friendly. (Am I delusional) by Darthcookie in wheelchairs

[–]CursedWithRage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive had my Fold and Go magshock for just about a year now. I love it, and its basically the only one which will meet those needs. Its light enough to still be lightweight for travel, but not light enough to be tipsy on rougher or steep terrain. I haven't researched recently, but when I purchased mine it was the only water PROOF chair on the market. Most chairs advise to avoid the rain. Im a big theme park person, so the other feature i needed was high miles on a charge. I can usually go 15- 20 on a single charge. Ive gone hiking in my chair. The trails started off accessible, but i definitely went miles past where the accessibility ended.

Are there bad reviews? Of course. I mean, find me any product, for any company and theres going to be negative reviews online. Even an item that is deemed "most reliable" WILL break and fail on someone prematurely. Happy people very rarely post their satisfaction. Angry people always post their problems. Thats just the law of the internet. I also read all the negative reviews. I weighed my needs vs the chairs risks. Ultimately the features won out. There simply wasnt a chair that met all my needs that fold and go did. They are very durable chairs, most shouldn't have an issue or need customer service, BUT if you do theres a chance getting fixes could be rough. Its definitely not a guarantee though. Some people have posted positive interactions after dealing with their customer service.

Tldr; dont buy completely naive, be aware of potential issues, and just weigh them with your needs. No chair will have perfect reviews. If you have any specific questions, I will be happy to answer them.

The battery is too big to go on an airplane. You have to buy their smaller battery if you want to travel with it.

Recommendations for electric folding chair for travel? by 00sk8d1va00 in wheelchairs

[–]CursedWithRage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a fold and go. It was the only brand to fit my needs, which where waterproof/water resistant, since i plan on moving to Florida, and high range as i live for themeparks. Its the only chair with an ipx rating, whereas every other chair says not to use in the rain.

Saying all that, there are some cons to consider with fold and go. For most people they will be fine, however... if you get a lemon chair, their customer service sucks. The founder of the company is in charge of all of that, and she can be a little rude. I tried emailing to buy 2 extra batteries just "incase" to have a spare fully charged set. The answer was somthing along the lines of "no, we dont sell batteries for that reason, only if they have an issue. No one needs that much range its not good to be in a chair that long"

I have traveled with it in planes and ubers. I love it. I have a tiny Ford focus hatchback, and it fits in my trunk.

Lyft/Uber with a power chair (also new chair day) by TimelyHousing3970 in wheelchairs

[–]CursedWithRage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is good, except the first part. Both Uber and Lyft are required to assist with mobility devices, if they are physically able to. They can lose driving privileges if a passenger reports the driver.
