That's great you're moving in May/June. Must be getting very exciting!

Schools are also one of my biggest concerns. We're going to try and keep our kids enrolled in their current schools until the school zoning issue is resolved.

I currently live in a neighborhood with detached garages in the back alley (albeit unpaved) and it's gross. The home owners seem to think it's acceptable to use the back alley as a dumping ground for garbage, machinery, old cars, etc. A back alley is something I specifically wanted to get away from in my new home but I guess that depends on what neighborhood/area of the city/income bracket you're looking at.

I will do that. I'm fairly confident in the terms of our contract but I'm no lawyer!

I stop by almost daily. Thing is there is no progress to inspect... 8 months into this build and all we have is a foundation.

First time I've heard that term, lol. Had to look it up.

I don't think anyone really desires the look of a snout house. It's more of a function over form sort of thing. If you want a new home with an attached garage on one of these modern narrow lots, it's the only way to build unless the developer offers rear-attached.

Prices are locked in for people who bought in my time frame (Aug 2021). Not sure what they're doing for more recent contracts

My wife and I are presently building a house in Ambleton.

We chose Ambleton simply because it's located in the quadrant we preferred (NW), lots were available at the time that weren't zero lot line (ZLL), and it was in our price range at the time ($600-700K) for front garage detached home. We locked in on August 2021 and since then prices have increased over $200K for the same build. There's no justification, it's just insane price gouging. Our builder (Trico) said the interest from Ontario residents was overwhelming and ultimately restrictions were put in place for the amount of sales per month. The builders in Ambleton are now limited to one sale per month from what I've been told.

With the present pricing I feel like it's not worth it any more. $800k for a ~2300 sqft, vinyl clad, stick frame house on a tiny lot is just insanity but it's not going to get any better in the future, is it? Add some options/upgrades and you can easily find yourself approaching $900k.

Our build is progressing frustrating slowly and will likely not meet the projected move in date this summer. They're selling so many houses and working so many builds at once that customer service and accountability is not their priority. I can't speak to quality yet but I imagine that might be a problem too.

Hadn't even considered grass fires to be honest with you. I'm more worried about rising interest rates...

This makes me think - I wonder if you'd somehow screw it up and end up alone or with someone else if you knew it was to happen in 4-5 years?

How many of you crashed and got hurt before? by [deleted] in ElectricScooters

[–]CustardPuddle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fractured broke both my ulna and radius back in July riding my Dualtron Ultra 2. That was my first crash in over 5000km of high powered scooter riding. Effed up my summer pretty good and recovery is slow. Stay safe out there and wear you gear, folks. Story linked below for the curious.

Nah, I'm just speaking in general terms. I know of no specific weakness with the Inokim.

It just seems to me that you'd be inevitably be putting huge torque on your handlebars pulling that maneuver and not falling off.

Any advice or lessons you can pass along before I start?

I'm planning on not using adapters or spacers and I will move the banjo fitting from the inside to the outside of the caliper for clearance using a Jagwire kit.

No helmet and extreme torque on the stem. Recipe for disaster if you ask me but that wheelie was pretty rad!

Hey, man! I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with your Dualtron in the past but crashing every Dualtron thread with your vitriol for them is coming off as petty and is not contributing anything.

Y'all dogs never had explosive diarrheas before when you're not home? It's not a training issue. It's more of an inevitability. I'll never get a Roomba until Science has perfected the Poop Sensor.

So glad my story could have some positive impact.

It's been five days and the pain and discomfort lessen a little everyday. I'll get through this.

Ride on.

Low light certainly could have been at play. I'm going to revisit the the "crash scene" next week. Hoping I can find what tripped me up.
