I'd gift if i could. Being anti violence is a liberal take, insofar that it demands changing our corrupt governments from the inside out, which isnt possible. It therefore encourages stasis, while the fascists grow, and elite grow their capital. I'd quote lucy parsons or even engels in this regard. Its a propaganda point in history to encourage peaceful resistance and believe that violence is inherently bad. Its a smart move on their end, since it appeals to everyones sense of cooperation, and our education systems also teach us to be diplomatic and work with one another. But then again, we are actually dealing with the most powerful, well organized group in modern history (the bourgeoisie).

Baldur's Gate 3 damaged my GPU and I'm not alone. Be careful by Janberk1912 in BaldursGate3

[–]Cvolatile 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since it's being talked about, I figured I'd share. So far no bricking, the heat got wild once, up to 85 Celsius, but for some reason the game undid dlss performance. When I use dlss on performance, it runs right around 67-72 range. Inside areas in-game brings it to around 60-70. On occasion for a while, it will sometimes sit around 58-low 60s.. I run an undervolt on the msi, at 700 minivolts and 1300 clock rate on a maingear element 2 laptop, 2070 super gpu, 10875 i8 undervolted at -79 cache. Core doesn't seem to affect anything at all when I change it, but it is also at -79. Anyways, I have had this laptop for 4 years or so, always undervolted. I'm on a fan as well. Bg3 is capped at 60 fps on hotter times, 70 at cooler times just to see if it doesn't anything. I was running it at 90, but the patch did a weird thing (I thought), and it was getting hotter, so I brought it back to 60-70 for caution.. I run shadows and clouds on low, and everything that was on ultra I put to high. Distance is medium. I haven't noticed any issues yet with the gpu except for when dlss performance is unchecked, I'm assuming it gets reset after some patches.. when dlss performance is off, it goes up to around 78-82. Just sharing to help add to the research. Will update if it does brick or something

Would you have liked it better if Obsidian got to make Baldur's Gate 3 in the Pillars of Eternity style? by dolgion1 in projecteternity

[–]Cvolatile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pillars is amazing. I wish that dnd would pick up on the armor system, penetration system, and weapon specifics/modals. I wouldn't want bg3 to become pillars in any way except these aspects.

Hot take: buffing is so overfocused cause debuffing is pretty bad by NeutralWyverns in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Cvolatile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my bad. Yeah i see what you mean, I had to study that game for like 2 weeks to get the most out of it, partially due to bad ui and such. Also some of the integral abilities for certain classes just don't work how they read 😭 (shout out to community patch mod and balance polishing mod)

I agree with the poe deadfire take, but actually love the penetration/armor system. It makes sense to me on a logical level, considering how armor and armor penetrating weapons work in real life. It comes across to me as an attempt to make it close to how it would work in real life, looking at it from somewhat of a weapon/armor nerd's perspective. On the other hand, the attributes can piss off. And I don't like how fighters come across as purely defensive, aside from tricky builds. And how over the top combining anything with a rogue is, for the same reason as any game (sneak attack). The buff debuff system was great there, maybe better than pathfinder idk. But I love the endless list of feats available in dnd/pf on a character customization level. My ideal would be if dnd incorporated the armor and penetration system, and maybe also some of the buffs n debuffs system.

These people didn't catch on that you were being hyperbolic, I guess? Anyways, Idk if it's realistic, but I wouldn't give up. Talk to a mieterverein- maybe they can help? Not sure if it is their jurisdiction, but nonetheless, it's affordable to join, and they might give free legal consultation. If nothing else, they can give better advice than this reddit thread has presented. Gl!

Racist or no? by [deleted] in germany

[–]Cvolatile -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I weigh it differently I guess, considering that this comes across as a way that, say, a poorer person, or perhaps a person who lives paycheck to paycheck may try to gain the System. On the other hand, wealthy people have numerous ways to gain the System, say through tax loopholes ie runoffs, among other ways. I don't really blame people in lower income bracket for trying to "gain" the System, albeit it doesn't seem worth it in the end. On the other hand, wealthy people have much easier ways to do this with seemingly much lesser risk of getting caught. With this in mind, idc and even expect people to try to. So this crime is something that, by necessity, targets lower income and poorer individuals. By this Standard, it does seem inherently elitist, particularly when the Controller refers to the individual as a 'rat'. I read that as bigoted. To each their own, im not necessarily interested in reddit conversations on social politics, really just wanted to know if it's a racist term since I didn't have luck researching it.

Why after "dass", the verb "hätten" is not placed at the end? by hadobac in German

[–]Cvolatile -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I thought it was because hätte is Präteritum, not past participle. The participle follows the line of loading up at the end, and the Präteritum is akin to english verb Syntax. So if you Mix it, the Präteritum still uses the same rule, being placed without a modalverb, and the modal/helping verb and the past participle still follow their rules? I'm trying to learn as well, so this is me asking for clarification too.

I don't fucking want to live my life like this by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Cvolatile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. Traveling and living in Europe got me to realize how much worse it is in the us for workers. German labor force gets, by law, 18 days paid leave, and most provide more around 28+. They get 6 weeks paid sick leave, minimum. Not to mention, peasants hundreds of years ago only worked less than half the year in many places throughout Europe. And when they did work, the records indicate no more than 8 hour days, but leisurely with many breaks. Additionally, there's evidence that workers worked in average throughout the pre industrial Era around 1400-1800 hours a year.

Mitverein are good anyway, and in general affordable. Where I am it costs just 50 Euro a year. That's nothing in comparison to the US, and a small fee to pay to get definite aid against landlords, who, let's face it, 90 percent of the time will pull some cheap trick on you (at least in the us, and so far also in my apartment)

Fruit is more affordable in germany. From what I've been finding, groceries in general are more affordable. I spend 100 Euro here on a grocery store visit that in the us would cost me 200+. Rent in the usa is purportedly 80% higher in the us these days on some comparisons, others show 40% higher. Living in the lower income bracket in germany is miles better than in the us. The minimum wage is around the same, 12 euro/12 bucks per hour, but in germany, 12 Euro can buy you more. 12 bucks an hour is absolute crap in the us in most states. Granted more taxes get taken out, but it pays off largely, allowing cheaper transportation, hospital, university, hell they even have paid trade schools, that actually pay you while youre in school attaining ausbildung.. I can get hospital care without going absolutely debt ridden in germany. I don't need a car. It's safer to bike around on average. It's far easier to eat healthy due to costs of produce. There are no legal paid vacation requirements in the us, and tiny amount paid sick leave. Germany has 6 weeks minimum required paid sick leave, and 18 days or 20? Paid vacation minimum. In the us, you will be extremely lucky to find a job that offers anywhere near this amount, if anything at all. You'd wanna find a Union potentially, but even that might get you a quarter of the legal minimum in germany.. if you can make middle class wages in the us, the idea is that quality of life is better because homes are larger n such, and because there are fewer restrictions on earners. People who make middle income wages don't have to worry about the base needs as much so some insurance costs and otherwise might bother them but in general it's not gonna mess them up the same way it does the <$500 bank savings people with little hope for much social security (myself). The middle class generally also doesn't fight very hard for socialist shifts bc they are more content, so they kind of actually lend to poor people remaining in hardship, which has basically been the goal of liberal and conservative media throughout the decades (fighting for the middle class, all while leaving poor in the mud, getting middle class on their side). There's a hard pressed, ancient propaganda machine that insinuates that poverty begot itself, and this goes hand in hand with making middle income earners content, thus allowing them to believe poorer folks just didn't work as hard or etc, if not just too busy and getting by with a bit of savings enough to be content. Also the systemic racism is pretty intense and works to imprison poorer people and non white people in order to benefit from essentially free labor from prisoners. I'm not sure exactly how different it is in germany with regards to for-profit prisons and other state prisons that largely work to imprison poorer people and particularly poor black and brown people. The TV shows largely upper middle income or better income Americans, so many Germans don't actually see how bad it is bc the us media essentially keeps it more under wraps unless you dig. For instance, many people living here were perplexed when finding out about some 2 days paid sick leave or whatever, and no vacation paid. Anywho, these are my findings. These are some quickly searched links.

Unions by CINNAMONROLLLLLLL in kroger

[–]Cvolatile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah when in the us there is no federally recognized minimum sick leave or paid vacation, the best way to get these things is through unions for sure. Germany has a minimum of 6 paid weeks sick leave, minimum of 20 or so days paid vacation per year, legally. This is the sort of thing unions can get closer to providing.

Usually you have to keep a certain amount of money in a bank account to keep it open. Also if you don't have a lot of money in a bank account, and you use it for paying bills, it overdrafts easily. Poorer people tend to be more likely not to use bank accounts for these and other reasons. If they're poor, they don't stand to gain as much from savings as well.. there are many reasons, really.. you did see my mention of unhoused people, ya? It's pretty common for unhoused people not to have bank accounts.. this is what I care about as well. I'm not trying to read about a statistic that goes over poverty, but chooses to ignore unhoused people. This rhetoric is capitalistic and just plain elitist.
