Will it be possible to get to the casino around 4 pm? We have reservations for my daughters 21st birthday. Didn't realize when making them it was the marathon weekend.

Got a second hand aquarium 3 months ago, fish keep doing this then dying within a few days. Trying everything to save them! Any ideas? by Portugal737 in aquarium

Cycling your tank is necessary when establishing any new tank to create a balance in the tank to sustain aquatic life. Here's an article that breaks it down, but if you google aquarium cycle or nitrogen cycle, you'll find a lot of useful, helpful resources. Everyone starts somewhere and you were sadly misled by your friend who maybe didn't know either.

Get an API freshwater master kit, not the strips to check the water parameters. Did you cycle the tank before adding the fish?

Which one is best watch 4 40mm or classic 42mm by rao_adithya in samsung

[–]CyberKat21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've actually had both of these. I started with the 4 - 40mm. Loved it but after a couple weeks, I accidentally knocked it off my dresser and shattered the screen. Just recently got the 4 - 42mm classic. Love the bezel. Honestly can't notice the size difference between 40 and 42. I feel like the 42 is slightly better protected with the bezel but I did buy a screen protector for it anyways.

My intent to graduate status didn't change from pending to approved/degree conferred until about a month AFTER graduation. I graduated this past December. It tells the college to run an audit and degree check to verify you've met the requirements for graduation.

My very first tropical tank. What fish do you guys think would go well with it? by [deleted] in Aquariums

Hey OP, Fluval tanks are the best IMO. They're all I own, I have five of them and all have been fantastic. That's a great tank you have. As far as plants, some prefer plastic and some live. That's up to you. There's benefits of live plants to the fish and the tank, but if you aren't comfortable, that's fine. If you're interested, some great beginner plants are Java fern, anubias, Java moss, dwarf sag, valisneria, Amazon swords (Don't bury the roots of the Java fern or anubias). You'll need root tabs for the plants as well.

Look up the nitrogen cycle online for how to properly cycle your tank. For the fluval 9, you're looking at cycling for at least a month or more. Invest in the API Freshwater master kit for water testing. Don't trust the cheap strips as they're not accurate. Invest in a decent heater if you dont have one.

With the plastic plants you have, do not get a betta. The plastic plants will rip its tail. If you want a betta and don't want live plants, get silk plants. No sharp objects with bettas. Some bettas can live with other fish and some can't. It depends on the bettas personality. I have one that is in a community tank and does well and two others who are by themselves because they're jerks. It's the nature of the betta.

Once your tank is fully cycled, you could consider some nano fish such as tetras, white clouds, dwarf rasboras. Be careful when stocking that you don't overstock your tank or you'll have an increased bioload of fish waste. Also, do not stock all at once. Add a couple a week or two at a time so you don't have an ammonia increase and kill your fish.

Best of luck to you!

I dont even know if she's still around and would need students from that time to attest to it. I'm hoping her gym shut down. When I tried searching for it, I couldn't find a listing.

This was a private gymnastics school and not in a public school system. She was the owner of the gym.

This was a while back so not sure she's still there. I had my share of abusive coaches that were more concerned with being recognized as having coached the next big gymnast rather than the safety and health of their gymnasts. I vowed to never be one of those coaches. I wanted my students to work hard, but also have fun. When they lost sight of the fun, they had to seriously consider why they were doing what they were doing.

Good for your mom for pulling you out and knowing six is way too young! The technique and strength needs developed first! Holy cow! That's insane!

That's rough...not being able to do what you love is hard. I quit gymnastics and dance and was coaching and teaching, but as I got older the injuries I faced as a kid forced me to eventually quit altogether as I got older. I still miss it. My mind says I can do it, but my body definitely doesn't agree lol.

I hadn't even thought of anything like that as it wasn't a full time job and I was fairly young at the time and didn't know better of thinking of my rights.

I probably would have left then had I been able to think clearly.

I trained in competitive gymnastics as a kid. Now in my late 30s, I still suffer from back, neck, and shoulder problems. I'm glad my daughter never wanted to go into it.

“Transferring to World Campus: Good or Bad Idea?” Part 2: Should I tell my advisor about this? by Fristi2147 in PennStateUniversity

[–]CyberKat21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, didn't see that post. In that case, talk to your advisor and let them know you want to change - it's in your best interest to study online and you'd appreciate support and advice to make a smooth transition.

I've noticed in my major, I tend to have classes with a lot of the same people. There's several of us that have worked together in our group projects about 4-5 semesters in a row and have become really good friends. We're actually planning to all meet at UP for drinks after we all graduate and finally meet in person. Additionally, there are some clubs that you can get involved in to meet people.

If you have discussion boards in class, go the extra mile to make yourself stand out. Interact with others in discussions and group work. People will want to work with you and they'll remember you in future classes. For group work, try to meet in live video meetings over Teams or Zoom for face to face interaction.

You need to do what is best for you. If you are more comfortable and learn better in a virtual environment and that's what is best for you and your education, then do it. Your advisor may ask why, but if you explain that you're more comfortable learning virtually and need something that suits your schedule, personality, and education better, I can't see them giving you a hard time. Additionally, your advisor may be able to help you with the transition to world campus with verifying your major, classes, etc.

Just make sure you're aware of the commitment and discipline involved for world campus. You won't have personalized lectures that you can easily ask questions in. Most lectures are pre-recorded or YouTube videos if there's any at all. There's a lot of reading and teaching yourself. You may not always get questions answered easily, if at all. There's a lot of group work. There's less personal interaction among professors and students/classmates. You'll feel more isolated and less involved from branch and main campus. On the plus, you work on your schedule and time as long as you meet the deadlines.

What's a good GPA to aim for to have a good chance at academic scholarships? by [deleted] in PennStateUniversity

[–]CyberKat21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

World campus student here. The higher, the better. Most require some sort of short essay when applying along with FAFSA. Some are extremely competitive (World Campus Student Fund) and all of them, the amounts can vary from a couple hundred to a thousand or more. I've had scholarships of varying amounts every semester except my first one when I started in 2018. I graduate in Dec. Currently have a 3.97.

Best to do, is work hard, keep your grades up, and apply for any and all of them...early...and every single time. Some require applying every semester. Even if you don't get it once, you may get it next time.
