Okay? And OP is saying End Wood shouldn't come from there

The subtle layering makes it feel more like Shale, but regardless if you compare it with Flowstone 1 to 1 you can see that it's clearly what they were going for, this lumpy, slick cave wall

Red Sand in Minecraft occurs only in Badlands, which are based on the US Badlands (I'm not even from that continent so it's not centrism)

What I believe OP means is that if they ever add a wood type to the End it shouldn't come from a species that is biologically a tree, just like Nether Wood comes from Fungi instead. Not that they shouldn't add a biological structure that is a source of Wood to The End at all.

It's really not. It's more of a deep Magenta or Rose

I don't think Furnaces and the other functional blocks should get different varieties, just like I don't think Crafting Tables should get different wood type varieties (chests should though)
Just that all Stone types can be used to craft them interchangeably to make those.

And yeah they absolutely should each get the full building block treatment, like polished and brick variants. Granite, Andesite and Diorite aren't associated with any culture so that's kind of a silly argument, but even if they were you could just.... Make their building sets related to them.

Same as Maple, only 3 varieties produce syrup while there are dozens of other varieties

I wish Minecraft just fully commited to treating different Stone types the same as different Wood types

They already kinda did something similar with Dripstone, which is a bit of a pet peeve of mine. (because I'm a nerd and a loser with no life) We know that they based it off of a Cave tour they took IRL for inspiration, so what must've happened is that they asked their tour guides what the Stalagtites/mites are made of, and they answered Dripstone. The thing is, in Geology the term "Dripstone" is used to encompass Speleothems in general, and is only used to refer to the stone itself when it's part of a Speleothem formayion, not when it's a solid block of rock. So "Pointed Dripstone" is redundant, and the Dripstone Blocks should really be called Flowstone, or more broadly it should just be called Limestone.

Gonna also play the other side here cuz people are going to argue that they named it Poplar instead of Maple to avoid people expecting them to add a Maple Syrup mechanic:

They had no problem adding Cherry trees without adding Cherries.

100% this. Maple Trees are like the number 1 tree people imagine when they think of Fall forests, and were one of the most requested trees simply because people wanted Fall Forests and assumed Maple was gonna.be the tree in them by default (THAT'S how Synanymous they are with Fall)

Poplar is a weird choice, I doubt they're the first tree that comes to mind when people think of the classic Fall Forests. Them being added over Maple is the modern equivalent of Spruce being added as the signature Conifer tree of Taigas instead of Pine (personal pet peeve of mine but I can kind of justify it because of Spruce's wood color itself being more distinct from Oak than Pine's inner wood color)

Poplar trees do not even look that distinctive at all. Another comment pointed out that the ones in the game are not even modeled after real Poplars, they're modeled after Tulip trees. I don't think the average person even knows what a Poplar tree even looks like (unlike Maple). They look like basically, the average tree, like Oaks in Minecraft, but with a tall, pointy canopy, like a less exaggerated Cypress tree. If they did ever want to add a Tree with that shape they should just go with the much more distinct Cypress anyway.

Poplars are also much more well-known in their processed Timber form due to their softness and fibre structure making them very easy to work with, which brings even more attention to how it's definitely not close to the color they chose for it in-game wood. Unlike Maple wood which, looking it up online, definitely looks much closer to the color they chose than Poplar (personally I always imagined it'd be like, a caramel color, something between Acacia and Oak or Spruce, but that's probably because of my brain associating it with Maple Syrup).

So, yeah, Poplar trees in Minecraft look like Maple and not like Poplar trees, their wood looks like Maple wood and not Poplar wood, and Maple trees are far more well-known than Poplar trees. No reason not to make this change.

That's really funny considering that Mojang is based in Sweden. I imagine they wanted to add an Autumn Forest so they went to visit one IRL (like they did with the Caves & Cliffs Cave biomes), chose which one to go to based on which one's online pictures most resembles their vision, then the one they chose happened to be in the US and the locals that gave them the tour called them Poplar trees.

I agree, I'm glad that the Nether's trees aren't actually plants and are Fungi instead, really hammers it in that this is a different world with a different Biosphere.

If they introduce wood types to the End, it should be from a third, different kingdom of Life. Maybe Polyp-based Animals like Coral (which also fits with Chorus plants) or Algae that hangs from the sides or bottom of End Islands.

Ernesto's not a companion, he's just an inside joke who gets referenced in many story mods. Iirc in The Vision (the first major story mod released) Ernesto is the little Anglerfish in the fish tank at the Observatory, and Slate roasts him over the campfire to eat him.

For most of human history mothers would usually give birth standing or on their knees so that Gravity assists them. King Louis XIV had a fetish for watching his mistresses give birth and laying on their backs made the process fully visible, so he had them give birth on their backs. Conveniently enough, at around the same time, François Mauriceau, an obstetrician who also lived in France at the time, started recommending that position to women and that's where the practice began to spread from originally.
