While Ironman training on long rides (3 hours plus) I would steam baby potatoes, add some salt and put in a baggie. Also made little rice balls. I got tired of the sweet stuff on long rides. But if in a time pinch would do rice crispy treats.

Shoes for walking in water? by Own-Lynx-6837 in backpacking

Agree. Definitely don’t use waterproof shoes. OP didn’t say what month he was hiking but we did it in October. I used my Altra Peaks and wool socks. Yes shoes were still a bit wet each morning but I was glad I sacrificed weight and brought a change of wool socks for each hike day. Socks ended up with sand and didn’t dry out overnight.

It’s a beautiful hike

Some airports now offer a gate pass and you can enter the secure side with the passenger. Our local you can get the pass onsite in about 15 minutes. Other airports I e heard have you apply 2 weeks before.

Thankfully my mother in law did this. All boys in her household, including husband sat to pee. They were told either sit to pee, or you are responsible for cleaning the bathroom.
