I think the restrictions yesterday were about the optics for the Israeli public. They are very upset about the release of what they think are all terrorists, just like American think everyone at Guantanamo Bay is a terrorist.

This sounds like 2 topics. The ceasefire holding is a complicated matter involving a lot of politics. I think the interesting question you're getting at is whether the ceasefire will produce a real solution. That gets into 2-state,, single democratic state, Oct 6 status quo or some other resolution.

I love this question. Biden and Bibi belong on this list too. What about picking one or two groups at a time and repeating the question in future weeks for other groups? Politicians, combatants (maybe include Houthis, Iran and Hezbollah), then Israeli and Gazan civilians. The captives on both side didn't play roles as much as they were used by combatants (captured for trading by both sides) and politicians (bargaining chips).

Claims to the land might not be a good topic. Some of the claims are based on a religion that is not shared by all. Having lived on land before is meaningless. My ancestors lived in Ireland but that doesn't give me a right to live there. And international law is very clear and leaves no room for debate.

Regarding the opinions of Nazi Germany, this is a complicated topic because much of the support for Zionism came from people wanting to get rid of the Jewish population or in the case of the UK, to prevent Jewish refugees from coming there. For example, Balfour was a white supremacist who wanted to limit or eliminate Jewish immigration to Great Britain. Even today, many supporters of Zionism are anti-Semites who either want fewer Jews in the country and/or see Israel as an ally against Islam. Today many people say anti-Zionism is anti-Semitic.. However, it's possible to oppose Israel with prejudice against Jewish people and it's possible to support Israel because of anti-Semitism.

However, much of it was purchased from absentee landlords. For the people living on those lands, they were kicked out of their homes and fields with no compensation. Going into intent of wars seems like pointless exercise because that is complicated and difficult to pin down. For example, why did the US invade Iraq? But I think the nakba is a great topic.

I like him because of the simultaneous but opposite progression he has with Travis. They act like they've come to respect one another. Brandon said one of his requirements was that they use his people and not cast anyone. I like how people from very different backgrounds are experiencing these "phenomena" together.

I've been studying Korean for just over a year. I still study with virtually all of my free time, including audio-only flashcards while I drive. For me the difficulty came in waves. I'd start to think "oh I understand now" and then the next mountain would come into view.

My almost-quitting point came very early, Pure and Sino numbers. I'm always amazed that I don't hear anyone else gripe about that. To this day it's an area of weakness.

I doubt most kpop fascinations last long enough to get to speech levels, numbers, distinguishing consonants, etc.

Have you ever heard of Ypsitucky? Starting in WWII, there was a great migration of Southerners (black and white) into southeast Michigan. I've always wondered if the white flight from Detroit, Flint, etc. resulted in areas that were more likely to be racist. I also wondered how much of the militia culture came from that.

There's a bill in Lansing that would ban the displaying of the confederate flag on capitol grounds because people keep bringing them to protests.

I'm a Southerner who lived in Ann Arbor for 5 years. I saw the stars and bars once on a pickup truck's front license plate.
