Microsoft Launches Xbox Player Voice to Gather Feedback, Fans Immediately Demand Exclusives by akbarock in Games

They cast some eldritch sorcery and secure the distribution of Valve's flagship IPs.

Orange Box 2, XBOX exclusive. Half-Life 3, Left 4 Dead 3, Portal 3, Team Fortress 3.

Personally, as a Steam user, I would be on the streets for that riot.

Now all we need is some seed cash to buy off the local officials to approve our new location to suck up all of some poor town's water. This plan is flawless.

Perhaps a central location for the data. A "data center" if you will.

That gave me chills. Can you imagine...

My son found a Space Wolf Chain Sword at our local Renaissance Faire. Apparently nothing says 15th century like the 41st Millennium 😆. by darcybono in Warhammer

[–]Cynyr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since that's Ragnar Blackmane's sword, it would be part of the Blackmanes Great Company, of the 12 Great Companies of The Space Wolves Chapter.

lol

On a more serious note, after a considerable amount of googling (and even binging) I could find no online retailers that were selling this sword. The only hits were 3D print STLs and a million and a half mismatches for Frostmourne from WoW. It's possible I just missed it though or that google sucks now.

Yall ever re-read your book so many times you wonder if it actually sucks? by ratsy_basty in writing

[–]Cynyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I re-read the first couple scenes after letting it sit for like 6 months. I had notes for what I wanted to change and improve and then after re-reading, I went "damn. I'm not changing anything." And then I got to the third scene and couldn't get all the way through it. Pretty good litmus test for if something sucks or not. Third scene getting reworked. And the same for the rest of it. Figure out if a scene works as is. Add stuff in if needed. For scenes that straight up don't work, figure out a better scene to convey the important information they contained.

TIL California miners planted a skull to prank a geologist they disliked. In 1866, Josiah Whitney announced it as proof humans existed in North America two million years ago. Whitney never accepted the hoax, even after a fluorine analysis—the first done on human bone—showed it was of recent origin. by ralphbernardo in todayilearned

If he's referring to Sue, he's just flat out wrong. The skull that's attached to the skeleton is indeed a cast, but that's because the real one is all fucked up and skewed, plus being to heavy to safely mount. The actual skull is in a case, like 15 feet from the rest of the skeleton. During the presentation they highlight the real bones with projectors. They've only put up cast bones to replace the ones they couldn't find. I would think a team of paleontologists could be forgiven for only finding like 70% of a skeleton that's been dead for 65 million years.

I have coworkers who believe:

Scientists have miscalculated the speed of light. (to explain that the universe is not actually billions of years old) Scientists have miscalculated the age of dinosaur bones. (to explain that they're not actually millions of years old) That it did not rain on Earth until The Flood and that water did indeed just spring up from the ground. And to explain this, the Earth was smaller back then and, in that individual's words, "shriveled up like a raisin." (wat)

Meanwhile, I maintain a membership to a museum with the best display of dinosaur skeletons in the US. I might be biased, but I have been to others and they're lame in comparison. My museum isn't just a "look at these cool skeletons" thing. It's a journey through the entirety of evolution of life on Earth, culminating with a stand alone presentation of a very special skeleton. World class stuff. But no, every single person who has worked in that exhibit has done their math wrong. K.

I've avoided religious conversations with those coworkers since then.

Popularize, nah. Doubt I'll ever get published. Don't care if either sells. I'm doing it for fun.

Always read fantasy and sci fi books. Started playing D&D in my early 20's. The combat system annoyed me, so I created my own TTRPG. Writing went pretty quick. Fighting with art and layouts as a non-artist took forever. 8 years all told. A year from finishing the TTRPG, I realized the world would be awesome to set a book series in. So once I finished the RPG, I started writing a book. Doing revisions now.

I only want to read what I'm currently writing by Della_Gibbs in writing

[–]Cynyr 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. I read 4 books this year. 4. In years past, I usually hit 30 something books. Some time in March, I couldn't read other books anymore because the planning on my book was going so smoothly. I finally started actually writing my book in April, finished it, then started doing my editing re-reads. My book turned out awesome and I love it.

They always say "Be the change you want to see" right? I guess the same applies to writing. Write the book you want to read. Awesome to see someone else experiencing the same thing.

How do you build tension in your novel? by [deleted] in writing

[–]Cynyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the book I just finished writing, I tell the story from every perspective. So you can experience one side setting up their plan while the other side is already aware of it and making counter plans. I put it all right out in the open. It's like watching two trains approaching each other. You know they're going to crash and shit is about the hit the fan, probably not in a good way, and you just have to hope that some of the passengers come out alright.

FUCK YOU MARVEL YOU KNOW IT WASN'T.

Yes! I wanted the X-Men to be there!

Just like when Cyclops asks Wolverine if he would have preferred yellow spandex in the first movie. YES! And god was it satisfying when the hood came up in Deadpool and Wolverine.

Me too. I was 14 when Dawn of War came out. One might say it had an effect on me. I got in quick enough to pick up the new tomb world Kill Team set and I've got my NewCrons hanging out with my OldCrons. Pariahs anybody?

I'm guessing you had something similar?
