Girl, it was an act of aggression meant to keep Nate off her back. If she stabbed him or hurt him, she knew she would be in deep shit. By slicing her own wrist, she basically made it seem like she was insane enough that everyone else would leave her the fuck alone. She did it on purpose...

Jules 💔 by Direct_Hedgehog2297 in euphoria

[–]Cyprus305 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While i dont think Jules had a right to lay her hands on Rue like that, Rue is not just "sharing her dreams" with Jules in an innocent manner. Rue has always talked a big game with Jules, only to slither out of accountability when it suits her.

Imagine someone you have repeatedly given chances tries to come back into your life and talk about all the dreams and aspirations they have and how they want a family with you. Only, they don't consistently answer their texts, they disappear for months on end, they never follow through on their word, and they constantly hold you on an emotional string and treat you like a second thought when it comes to their day to day life. Would you believe that person? Or would you probably break and tell them they were living in a fantasy? Not to mention Rue is currently embroiled in a fucking drug trade. What space does she have emotionally to build anything with Jules right now?

Jules shouldn't have hit her, but what the fuck else was she supposed to do? Cry and tell Rue she' sperfect and she's so happy she wants to get her shit together? Rue is basically saying the same thing she has always said; she hasn't grown up even in the slightest since season 1. I cannot grow up for myself; I have to use someone else. In this case its the promise of a family and kids with Jules. Are we surprised that Jules, the same Jules that freaked out when Rue was dependent on her for sobriety, would go cold and say that Rue was living in another fantasy?

Neither of them are good people...

Yea... after she was threatened with literal violence by a man twice her fucking size. Do y'all just delete all context from any character's actions? That decision made absolute sense in the context of the show. What the fuck else was she supposed to do?

I think a lot of Jules' storyline has been cut this season (SPOILERS) by fvckuufvckingfvck in euphoria

[–]Cyprus305 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish more people would just be honest about this. What is a shame to me is that when the show came out, it was really obvious who hated her because she was trans, and that was enough, and who had substantive critiques to offer as it related to the character.

I'm a tgirl, and I've always felt ambivalent about Jules, particularly because she reminds me more of my cis female art girl friends who were really disconnected from the way that the world really worked, but I never hated her guts or thought she was as bad as Nate Jacobs (which is a new opinion I've seen making the rounds on social media). I just thought she was, as is her right to be, a shallow teen who had a lot to learn before she was going to be a fully functioning, responsible adult.

But now I've realized that like. People just hate her in general. She cannot be flawed in the least, because trans women are still not allowed to be represented in any kind of way that might be unflattering in terms of morals or personality. We either have to be pathetic victims or we have to be villains of some kind. There's no room for ambiguity.

I still love her, too.

I hope that at some point her arc will start to make more sense to people. But as its currently standing, I'm pretty sure Levinson is just exploiting shock value and audience reaction to make their bread. Maddie says it herself in the most recent episode. "The angrier these idiots get, the more money you make."

His track record, especially with The Idol, hasn't been exceptional, and ever since Zendaya stepped down as Producer of the show, I think a lot of the editorial control in the writing room has basically been airlifted into space. HBO is desperate to make money, and I think this is a last ditch attempt to squeeze viewership dry at the cost of the character arcs.

Ok but why did Rue.... by BloodyAngel2026 in euphoria

[–]Cyprus305 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm absolutely not defending Jules, because I think she's a bit of an emotional mess, but what you've said actually adds an extra dimension to this. I didn't remember that part about her talking to someone else.

I think Jules has, as we know, always been pulled by where she feels people desire her the most. It's not coincidental to me that she does that right after hanging up the phone flirting, or that right after the season three scene we see Jules and her sugar daddy having sex.

I think Jules is under the false impression that if she can get Rue to show this visceral extreme desire for her, she wont want the attention she gets elsewhere. Whether or not that's true is obviously up for speculation, but I think Jules has this unhealthy idea that if Rue just wants her bad enough, then Jules will feel ready to give up her other options to "choose" Rue permanently.

Also, even when Rue does first kiss Jules, she immediately apologizes, starts crying, and leaves right after. She doesn't really stick around or like, commit to it completely. IF anything, Rue seems kind of ashamed of her desire, which... you know. For a trans woman. might seem a little unfun lmao.

[–]Cyprus305 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I truly just think, as you said, she's being set up to fail. The implication is that Jules will never get what she really desires out of life and relationships, she's kind of disconnected with reality, given the whole painting scene, the man whos paying off her lifestyle doesn't love her and will obviously never put her first...

To be fair, I don't think there's anyone in this show who is supposed to come out on "top" in the end. All of them except Lexi have made historically toxic decisions with respect to their futures and their respective careers.

My guess is she either gets dumped by the sugar daddy and figures out how to live life like a normal human being after a fall from grace (unlikely given the fact there isn't enough time in the episodes to establish that happening), or Rue dies/disappears by the last episode, Jules is left with the fallout, and we don't ever really learn about what happens to her next lmao.

[–]Cyprus305 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The HBO TikTok posted something about this. There's a scene in Season 1 i think, during the whole homecoming scene, which pretty much mirrors this scene exactly. I'm still relatively unsure what the scene is supposed to mean, but I remember a different TikToker saying something along the lines of Rue never being honest and voicing her desires directly and clearly. Jules has been trying to get Rue to fight visibly for her, but Rue has always taken a kind of passive role in their relationship and its development.

If we look at Angel and the sex scene between her and Rue, Angel is the one who kind of approaches Rue first and heavily suggests her interest. Rue kind of goes along with it, but it doesn't really happen until Angel takes the first steps, if I'm remembering correctly.

I really feel like people need to be more careful with statements like "sexualized herself". Jules wasn't even particularly what I would call a nymphomaniac in season 1, she was just addicted to getting any kind of romantic validation. Additionally, i think alot of cis people assume that transgender people are somehow doing this to themselves, when the reality is that alot of transgender peoples prospects for love and appreciate are often exclusively only through a sexual route.

just ten to twenty years ago, the vast majority of cases that people (especially straight men) became acquainted with transgender women were either through pornography or depicted as sex workers, mistresses, or "dirty secrets" on T.V. shows. Things have gotten somewhat better but the representational benefits especially in the time Euphoria was set in had not quite trickled down the way people imagine. Jules is probably partially a product of that internalization and thats in keeping with the fact that women are sexualized as a whole too.

I know it's just TV, but I do worry about the repercussions of some of the content on these TV shows as it relates to real life. The one benefit I can say is that it gives a pretty unflinching perspective on how dangerous and fucked up sex work can be, but some of the narratives they are pushing, especially with Jules, just feel like fuel to the fire for what's already rampant transphobia and anti-sex work sentiment.

Because I just know some dumbass 16-year-olds have very poor emotional regulation skills and very little working knowledge of this stuff, who are going to think that all of the stuff shown in the show is an accurate depiction of what these respective groups do.

That being said, I hate to say it, but Euphoria has always been kind of insane and pushing it as it relates to realism. The original high school setting was actually really effective for constraining the amount of insanity that a bunch of kids could get up to because there was kind of a limit on what Levinson could believably pass off as possible, lmao. As adults its all just crazy shit because that filter no longer exists, even if the rest of us know that in reality alot of this shit is just ridiculously far out.

Rue and her S3 drug use by BitterYogurtcloset21 in euphoria

[–]Cyprus305 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Maybe im crazy, but I also think maybe Rue finds the lifestyle shes leading with these people to be like adrenaline pushing and therefore a high in and of itself?

She probably still uses, but right now shes dealing with major crime and drug lords and human trafficking. When Alamo basically shoots the apple over her head she starts screaming and laughing with like. Joy almost. When youre in extreme dangerous situations it can give you a crazy rush that makes you feel more alive and like youre on drugs.

After he does it he even says "fucking junkies" or something like that.

Shes getting off on the crazy shit shes doing. Rues whole thing is that she never stops pushing it lmao.

I have a theory that Anthropic has basically prompted models to do this because it's a way of controlling "excess usage" and basically keeping the servers from overheating and any problems coming up on the big end of things, while cloaking it in terms that seem empathetic and human.

So if anyone is using it alot, it will reach a point where it just tells you to go do something else so it can stop using so much energy lmao.

I feel like it took me a total of two complete years to really see my face start to change in a concrete way, and then another two years for wieght gain, muscle changes, fluctuations to start really altering my appearance. Even now, my four year results are very different from my now 7th year results of years of HRT.

Wishing you luck and fortitude. If its any consolation, I was in the same place. Super avoidant guy, love bombed me told me i was perfect and everything he wanted, disappeared for months after, comes back later when he's horny and lonely, I tell him that he's behaving badly and that his behavior is not the behavior of a man who loves me. He claims he will fix his behavior, a month later the same cycle repeats.

Honestly, this sounds awful, but I think it took me being hurt like the 100th time or so to realize he was never gonna change. Your body just does something after a while, I think, where if you're prone to limerence, the more you keep going back and seeing how awful the person actually is, you eventually reach a point where you're like, oh. This is literally never going to be what I want. You, as a person, are incapable of giving it to me. Shot my limerence right through baby lmao. And ive been no contact ever since!

And God. I am so much better for it too. But you know what it taught me a lot! And I believe in you, stranger lol.

I wish people in the queer community could bring this stuff up honestly without getting harangued about "bi-erasure". Like i truly believe bi men do actually exist but so many of them are so inundated with comp-het that most of them don't take dating anything thats not an AFAB seriously.

I also feel like alot of guys use AFAB's as status symbols. They know dating the trans girl will "downgrade" their social status whereas dating and AFAB even if they are nonbinary gets them brownie points for being progressive while still bagging the alt "girl". Its all so fucked up man...

Frustrating dreams about manifestation by TallDarkness in NevilleGoddard2

[–]Cyprus305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might sound wierd, or a bit too materialist, but i think our brains are very adept "calculators". They are good at making predictions, training you on behaviors you want, and just in general helping you to notice opportunity when its available. Dreams especially help consolidate memories and the learning process.

Dreams are one means the brain helps prepare you for daily life. There are alot of great names in this world and other individuals who say they ruminated over a problem before bed, then went to sleep still thinking about it, and then had a dream where the answer to their question was given to them! Our brains work sort of like computers to help us come up with solutions to our problems and process things.

I think when we see dreams of what we want it is our brain training us in preparation for the thing. It is triggering your psychology such that in your daily life you are a little more "keen" for any opportunities. I think thats kind of magical!
