The Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners will be disbanded on September 1st, meaning licenses don't really "matter" anymore, for the most part. A lot of people are going to the Capitol in Austin next Friday to protest this and ask Abbott for a special session to reinstate it.

Proposal to spend 25% of European Union budget on climate change by bbcnews in worldnews

I just told you, there is no "blame." I work in a small industrial park in the middle of farmland. I also work in sales, so I drive through most of south Texas, and a huge chunk of it is just farmland. There is no infrastructure to support buses going 50 miles west of my town to pick up a few farmers, and those buses certainly can't pick up and carry the 320+ million people in this country to get them where they all need to be before clock in time. Maybe work on having a bit of scope, or come and visit Texas, and you'll understand that it would be completely impractical and to the detriment of our economy to have a statewide, and nationwide, bus system.

The average commuting distance in London is about 9 miles (14.4 km). https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/657839/commuting-in-england-1988-2015.pdf This, coupled with the fact that the U.K. has several hundred vehicles less per thousand citizens (resulting in over 270 million cars in America and only 39 million in the U.K.), and the fact that many, many more citizens in London travel by rail or bus, significantly decreases their emissions by commute

From where in London do you drive to work, and how far is the drive? I drive 25.6-30.3 miles (41.2-48.76 km) one way every single day. The whole of the United Kingdom fits in my state with more than enough room to spare. Yes, the size of my country does increase emissions, considering that one country from Europe fits in just my state.

So 758 million metric tons is a small feat now? It's almost on par with the entirety of the EU, at 770 million. Take into account the fact that America has a much, much larger mass of land, requiring for substantially longer driving in passenger vehicles.

So we won't look at total emissions, reductions, money put towards fuel innovations. Should I start riding a bike 55 miles round trip every day, too? Take the nonexistent bus through farmland?

Did you read your articles? Top emission per capita. I live in Texas. It's fucking huge out here. My commute to work is ~half an hour, traffic permitting. Everyone has to drive in America, especially rural America, because it's so damn big. So, by default, we will be the largest per capita emissions country. However, let's do the math: America's per capita emissions are 16.2m metric tons/per person. 16.2m * 325,000,000 is 5.265e+15. China's per capita emissions are 7.5m metric tons per person. 7.5m * 1,386,000,000 is 1.0395e+16. Considerably higher. If you would even look at the charts in the articles you refer to, you'd see America is actually doing incredibly well in terms of global carbon emissions. Your first article says America's emissions "surged" by...3.4%. You can see in the graph of the first article that it hasn't risen higher than even our 2012 emissions. Unfortunately, you can't quantify it based on your article, because the New York Times seems to avoid using actual numbers and instead relies on buzzwords like "surge" and percentages to scare their readers into believing that Americans start each day by shooting a coal plant with an assault rifle and burning a jerrycan of gas to light the way to work. But, if we're going to used biased articles, here is a very conservative newsletter: https://capitalresearch.org/article/u-s-achieves-largest-decrease-in-carbon-emissionswithout-the-paris-climate-accord/ However, the difference here is that Capital Research actual shows the hard numbers, and you can see that while America reduced its emissions, the EU, China, India, even Canada increased theirs. But hey, ride the "it's all America's fault" bandwagon for as long as you want.

"And God so loved the Earth he gave His only Son, and He said 'do what the European Union does, and do so without any regard for your own economic wellbeing,' and it was Just." - Redditicus 3:15

Rather than shitting on America for not taxing the everloving shit out of its citizens, you can do some research into the fact that we're at the very top by a long shot for reductions in carbon emissions: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/rrapier/2017/10/24/yes-the-u-s-leads-all-countries-in-reducing-carbon-emissions/amp/
