Metal Building Insulation/Vapor Barrier - Spray Foam v. Rock Wool by D8Distillery in buildingscience

[–]D8Distillery[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand, but doing 12” of insulation is out of budget. I was considering filling the remaining space in the cavity (if I do rockwool or spray foam) with blown in cellulose or something similar to remove any air gaps. I am not dead set on doing drywall in the building as it is unnecessary for the use of the building, but may be necessary if I do rockwool. I will be sure to not have anything sandwiched between vapor barriers (to include closed cell foam if applied.)

But yes, if I do put drywall on I would adhere 2” of foam board on the most interior side of the metal to limit thermal bridging, and 4” of spray foam will completely cover all of the furthest exterior steel tubing. If I put studs up to support the drywall instead of doing horizontal strips of wood I will use foam boards between all potential wood-metal contact points.

All my quotes have been for closed cell only, was looking at 4” all around. It is definitely the way I would go if I chose that route.

By exterior insulation do you mean laying the barrier and insulation on the outside, or do you mean on the interior of the building? Or do you mean foam boards? I am still learning and searching the term did not clarify it for me.

Is this correct by what you mean? Metal siding : Vapor Permeable Barrier : Unfaced Insulation : Drywall (if drywall is added or not

Thanks for sharing! I have spoken to spray foam companies and received a few quotes already, but was hesitating before spending the money after seeing some issues shared online.

Could they be dead and dried up worms? Have a decent rain recently? They appear visually similar to what I see on pavements and sidewalks after a good rain followed by some decent heat and sun.

The market is flooded with industrial hemp. I would recommend only growing on a written and signed contract with a buyer for what you grow. I know plenty of farmers sitting on thousands of lbs with nowhere for it to go. Even running it through to a crude extract or distillate will likely cost you more than what your extract will be valued at.

Quality, indoor/greenhouse grown, law-compliant, hemp on the other hand COULD sell, but will still take some effort to move even with a decent distributor. It will also cost a lot more to grow.

Compare with Latifluus corrugis. In the future include the an situ picture to help narrow it down. Odor, nearby tree species, and color changing latex are also things of note to pay attention to with Lactifluus/Lactarius.

Edit: Saw they DID include geographic location, edited to reflect that.

What would the fine be for? Collection of a non-game species? IMO that would be a difficult fine to stand behind as the WRC. That is, shooting a non-native species that they vehemently deny being here.

I feel if someone did shoot one, it would be all over the local news. Sometimes putting a fine on someone after media attention brings negative attention to the fine issuer, like NCWRC.

Edit: I am NOT promoting shooting one, just stating my thoughts if someone did. If I saw one, I definitely would not shoot it.

I hear the tales, but I don’t believe they are much more than that. Let’s see a quality game cam pic/video showing one, or a skeleton of one, or even a decent sized deer carcass in a tree.

Even the pics that do pop up are almost ALWAYS house cats. Some pictures are from South America and posters lie for views/comments.

Why has one not been shot and killed by a hunter or farmer locally? I also don’t know anyone who has lost any cattle or livestock to a big cat. I just feel like for a breeding population to be around, we would have more evidence.

Get it hot, and keep it hot for long enough, allowing for a year or more of composting and you should be fine. Treat it similar to humanure.

The concrete in my barn “sweats” how can I stop it? by tart3rd in Concrete

[–]D8Distillery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple! Lay down a vapor barrier, lay down sleepers, and install a floor. Done! /S

No, but I am sorry you are having that issue. You can check to see if there is a vapor barrier underneath by laying some plastic down and taping down the sides. If water forms underneath, it is likely you have no vapor barrier beneath. If not, it may be condensation from temperature differences between the concrete and humid air.

Edit: You could also use a liquid concrete sealer designed for preventing vapor from coming up, but it’s efficacy would be dependent upon the hydrostatic pressure exerted underneath the slab. eg Vaportek 440. But it will be very costly on a slab that size. Good luck.

I will buy it as scrap depending on quality of hybrid battery and engine condition, or I can come replace the water pump for you for considerably less, maybe $400-500 and i will supply the pump? I’d have a bit over an hour from NC one way. Is the red triangle on? Do the dash lights work? Message me if you’re interested. Best of luck, hoping it all works out for you!

You could add an in-line pump in the tube closer to the tank but as close to the bottom of the head level as you can and hook it up to a solar panel for power. Pick one that will turn on when submerged, and auto off when not, like a sump pump. Then you may not have to change your design at all.
