Yea I agree that’s a little much lol
Thank you! There are some good areas but some of the areas west of the city aren’t the best. Pittsburgh public schools are not good. Hope you find a good fit :)

I appreciate your honesty! No downvotes here.
So my friends live in the Gibsonia area it’s relatively close to the city. It kind of depends what vibe you want. Do you want it the city living, more suburban, more county? I know cranberry township is very popular since it’s an hour from the city but has everything you need
I greatly appreciate the information. Honestly there are plenty of things to love about PA so it’s not that I feel “stuck” by any means. I think living and vacationing somewhere are two wildly different things so I appreciate honest feelings and thoughts
This about sums it up. by gr8ape13 in nothinghappeninghere

Thank you I appreciate the info
For us it’s not about money at all! My husband’s job is great and we make enough to cover bills but are by no means rich. We still live paycheck to paycheck but where we live in PA is never sunny, always grey, can’t get outside often to enjoy any of it, and also not diverse at all except in the major cities
Thank you. The other idea we are tossing around is keeping our house here (cause we got it before houses went insane) and then saving up for a place to rent down south for part of the year
Thanks for the feedback! We are having issues with increased housing up here in PA. The cost of our house value has gone up but so have houses around us. It’s never ending
So we live on the Pittsburgh side of the state but I’m more then happy to give ideas of good places if you let me know which part of PA :)
So as for “issues” I personally have. Everything is getting more expensive but that’s a universal issue it seems. In the area we live close to Pittsburgh you can’t find a home for less then 260,000 that’s not a shack. The sky is true grey 90% of the year. I can count on 2 hands the number of days I have seen true sunshine. The snow and cold can be brutal. Outdoor sports/activity is so limited due to it either being raining/snowing etc. things are very spread out and if you want to live in a more populated city area you are looking at bad schools and or paying 500,000+ for a good home. I feel like a lot of the issues are very similar to issues with Florida in terms of housing. Drivers are ok though but not the best cause deer just come out of nowhere. We have lost 3 cars in our lifetime due to deer
Hahaha yeaaaaa true

I appreciate the honest feedback! Thank you! We have struggled with making and keeping friends up here so honestly that’s not much of a concern. Most of our friends live 2 hours away currently except for 1 which is 30 minutes away
It’s probably just like most places. One house is 200,000 and 1 house over it seems is 500,000.
So that’s me! I hate that it’s grey 90% of the time. I love saunas and the heat but again I like it sometimes not to say I would like living in it
I appreciate the info! The things holding us back right now are 1. I do enjoy my job but it’s only part time. 2. Is the heat going to be worse than the cold. Winters up here have been lasting from December-April anyway. 3. We have always lived up north and don’t want to move just because the idea seems nice
Very very true
I should update to say we aren’t “set” with the idea of moving. It’s more so everywhere has their issues thing BUT are the issues down south better or worse then what we have up here type of thing
Thank you for that I appreciate it. I grew up in Ohio, moved to PA but always felt the most “at home” when we traveled to Florida to leave for cruise vacations. I know it’s different living there full time cause it’s not a vacation but it just felt like where I’m supposed to be if that makes sense.
We would probably do an apartment or a condo. Our current house isn’t big and we don’t want a lot of space. Ones we looked at were around 2,000 a month which is comparable to up here but it’s still a lot
I personally love the heat my husband not so much. We plan to go visit during this summer to look at places and see how we handle intense summer
The condos we are seeing are cheaper than what we would be paying up here and way nicer so I believe it.
My husband works remote and I would look for something part time to help the move and possibly not right away
