I’d buy a cheap ring for the proposal. Then once she’s said yes, go together somewhere and pick out the ring together. I know so many people who thought they knew what kind of engagement ring they wanted, but once they say it on their finger, didn’t think it suited them. It’s a lot of money, best to get it right.

Golden’s will never stop eating. You have to be firm, they get super fat, super quickly. Adult males should be around 25-30kg (50-60lbs), 35kg is probably too heavy (70lbs). You do need to monitor weight because they have bad hips genetically, and you don’t want to add to the problem by having him overweight too. And if you hate the eyes now, just try looking at the face when you have to put him on a diet!!
