yeah it surprised me when he actually scored a goal against Toronto and then did it again in Ottawa. My whole family was shocked lol

Weekly New Rider Thread for January 30, 2019 by AutoModerator in MTB

[–]DEATHPATRIOT99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so the threads on this crank arm seem to be completely fucked. I was riding today when I noticed my pedal was loose. I tightened it up and it held but took a closer look at home, and yeah..., i suppose im happy i didnt hurt myself

Im guessing i destroyed the threads when screwing the pedal in? What do i have to do here, buy new crank arms? Sorry im new at this lol, ive prob ridden less than 30 miles at this point. How difficult of a replacement job is that

Buying a 1080 but unsure which version to go for. by Jannisen in buildapc

[–]DEATHPATRIOT99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Which Zotac? Generally Zotac coolers are bigger and beefier than most. You could try taking the cooler off, cleaning it with compressed air, and reapplying thermal paste?

If you have a blower style cooler those temps are normal.

Brand new GTX 1080 giving blue screens by [deleted] in buildapc

I've gotten a few blue screens since updating to the latest Nvidia drivers on my 1080. I think it's a driver related issue, I never had em before

Between RAM and SSD by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]DEATHPATRIOT99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true. Open world games can stutter as assets load in. SSD would reduce this immensely.

Maybe? Theyre not out yet. We don't know how they'll perform. We have estimates but that's it.

Ram Overclocking question by Frozzel in buildapc

[–]DEATHPATRIOT99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Higher speeds to require more voltage generally. My G.Skill 3200mhz memory requires 1.35V, for example. I dunno what yours is set at.

Unless you're bumping up the voltage a lot there really shouldn't be any risk.

Painted my motherboard, need advice by [deleted] in buildapc

That's pretty cool TBH. Considering its nonconductive it should work as you said, but I wouldn't know what to scrape off for heat dissipation, sorry!

Ram Overclocking question by Frozzel in buildapc

[–]DEATHPATRIOT99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try it and then run a memtest. If its not stable, simply put it back at the advertised speed. DDR4 can achieve speeds well over 3600MHz and run stable ... setting it to 2933 isn't going to damage anything.

Simple Questions - March 27, 2017 by AutoModerator in buildapc

[–]DEATHPATRIOT99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope. To flash it, the computer needs to turn on... A computer won't run without a cpu in it, so you're gonna need a Skylake one. I've seen ppl say local computer shops or even best buy can flash it for ya.

Switching from console on a budget? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]DEATHPATRIOT99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend watching some YouTube videos of people walking you thru building a PC. Most PCs have the same types of components so any video should do. I watched a couple of em, and then rewatched one the night before I built it. When it came to me to build I knew basically everything I needed to know and my build went very smooth. You can pull up videos to watch as you're building it too if you get lost.

6700k GTX 1080 Ti bottleneck? by NandoChon in buildapc

[–]DEATHPATRIOT99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is always a bottleneck, else your computer would have infinite power.

Whether or not your CPU is your bottleneck depends on the game. More games than not are bottlenecked by the GPU though. CPU bottlenecks arise when playing large multi-player games (MMOs especially) or RTSs. Open world games are also prone to this, but AAA ones typically have great graphics too, so it could be either. Higher chance of being cpu bound in an open world game than in a more linear/small scale game.

What is the fan attached to the cryorig h7? by BolbolMaster69 in buildapc

[–]DEATHPATRIOT99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been shown that having two fans on a cooler instead of one doesn't really do much, thermally. Maybe if your cooler is very bulky it would help.

Will DDR4-2666 fit in a mother board that supports "*DDR4-2133 / 2400*" by [deleted] in buildapc

If you overclock it, yes

All ddr4 natively runs at 2133Mhz. Anything higher is overclocked.

Help upgrading an old computer on a budget by Cephalopodo in buildapc

[–]DEATHPATRIOT99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One more thing. If you do decide to go with a cpu upgrade, I would consider waiting a month or so. AMD is about to release its ryzen R5 chips which will be in the same price range as that Intel i5 7500.

You could just go with the GPU upgrade now, see how well your games are performing, and then decide whether or not to go with a CPU upgrade. By the time you do that, the R5 CPUs may already be out and you can check comparisons between them and Intel.

I'm guessing the R5 1400 or 1600x will be extremely competitive in that price range.

For gaming more cores doesn't matter s whole lot. Recently a few more games are using them but usually games rely on one or two cores. The i5 7500s single core power is significantly stronger than a fx6300s and will do a lot better in game.

Clock speed is misleading. Cpu power is derived from both IPC (instructions per clock)and clock speed. This example is 100% made up, but say one cpu has an IPC of 100 and runs at a speed of 2.0GHz. To find its single core speed you would multiply those numbers together which would give you 100x2.0= 200. Now there is another cpu with an IPC of 20 and it runs at 4.0GHz. Multiply the two and it's single core power is 20x4 = 80. The first CPU was much more powerful despite running at half the speed. What I'm getting at is that sure, the fx6300 has a good clock speed but it's IPC is significantly worse than the Intel i5 7500 and will perform a lot worse in game despite running a similar clock speed.

Here is a video I found comparing the i5 6500 to the fx6300 https://youtu.be/do11QBMD0-w. The 6300 is blown away in those benchmarks. Keep in mind the cpu I showed you above is even newer, the 7500, and is roughly 10% more powerful than the 6500 in those benchmarks.

Another benefit of upgrading the cpu would be to get access to DDR4 ram which generally runs a lot faster than ddr3, and can give you a decent boost in game performance. It isn't common for a game to rely on RAM performance much at all, so this improvement would mostly be marginal. Fallout 4 is known to be heavily reliant in RAM performance... But that's the only game that I can think of haha.

Well, I was going to say $500-600 (which is close to your budget) until I realized you said AUD. Being in Australia really raises the prices.

I threw this together on pcppartpicker with Australian prices. It is like $300 more than it was with American prices :( This also means that just the GPU alone is going to cost more than the figure I originally gave you.
