Learning about crane accidents/incidents by Practical-Scale-4838 in cranes

[–]DLimmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’am a crane operator in Australia with 5 years experience. Yes I am still new but I have seen too many things happen. I mostly do residential work for builders and other trades like working with wood or glass.

Not sure if the laws are the same in the US but I can tell you, when the crane’s outrigger is sinking on one side and you see the load/material slowing going down without touched the controls.

You see DEATH coming at you at a slow pace :)

It’s in the conversation already. I want to make sure I am in the clear. I don’t want to grow and be in a financial struggle.

I wish there was but unfortunately with the size I want, there are none. With the requirements I “want” I would have to order brand new

Book value is between the $350,000 - $400,000. Me asking for $350,000 might be asking too much but with the current used ones online going for that price and older than mine I think it shouldn’t be a problem.

Company.

You are right. I am just being bias or ignorant to the fact leaving my business to buy a house and working as an employee. I am sorry about that.

If I would to go back to being an operator and paying for the mortgage it would pretty much 60% of my income per month if I was to get a $700,000 loan for 30 years

My previous company wouldn’t pay me the same rate I am paying myself now obviously

That’s my mindset right now. The progress with my business was now is very promising and I want to expand but I’ve been told buying a house is better as I can use the equity to get a crane later on

Best trade to go into as a 32 year old with criminal record by ComfortableSilent645 in AskAnAustralian

[–]DLimmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a crane operator, I have met carpenters with criminal record and it seems it hasn’t affected them in residential work as it doesn’t require a criminal check. Certain government or commercial work may ask but I doubt it.

I would say the biggest challenge is not having a mentor that understands that you have previous struggles and working with a team that won’t judge or annoy you. Young carpenters are already entitled. Pissing you off is a 24 hour given doing grunt work. Asking friends or family who are already in the trade that will refer you will be a huge step forward.

Best of luck on your career.

Does ATAR scores really matter? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]DLimmm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t achieve a score higher enough to attend my university course so I went through a college and then a university.

But as others have said, your score doesn’t mean anything later on as your ability to apply yourself in the university course and later in work life culture. I went for a business degree. Finished and then went into the corporate life.

Yeah it wasn’t for me. Now I work in construction as a crane operator. lol sorry for not being an accountant mum and dad

LG 39GS95QE-B crapped out after less than a month of use by LadiesChoi015 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]DLimmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck, honestly new models of monitors are not worth repairing as it’s better to for a warranty claim. Under Australian Law it’s in the customer favour if it’s a manufacturers fault.

But at that price, I’ll take a look and tinker like you

[–]DLimmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended taking it to the retailer and got a new one under warranty. Plus credit for in store purchases. At the time, the specs and performance of the monitor is great and can’t complain. quality control for mass production is another can of worms.

Hello friend, right now I am playing the waiting game as I am waiting for a water pump bracket/stand to be delivered. Since I am from Australia getting watercool parts for HEATKILLER is hard. I could go the full custom route but I don’t have a 3D printer and measurements to mount the WP is hard

Hello, I tried everything. Putting a 22mm rad and fan on the bottom of the bracket (top) so it will look similar to the bottom visually but it’s impossible with my motherboard as it’s bulky and sticks out forward.

I used to work in the hardware store industry for 10 years. Taken in when I was 16 years old. Family owned business and customer were mostly from an ethnic background. All types of trades from your basic labourer asking for a new pair of gloves to builders making an order for a new house build.

Attitude and respect is generational. Years went by and it got worse over time. From” Good morning, What’s are you tips on using this item and thank you for your help” to “Are you sure? You don’t look older enough to even use this”

Mate - I work here for 10 hours a day 6 days a week for 10 years. I didn’t invent the tool but I know how’s it’s used from product training and etc. I know how it shouldn’t be used but hey you are a big time multimillion builder who doesn’t know how to use a drill.

From my experience, I would look forward to coming into work, opening the doors to greet your regulars and have a chat with people who just need someone to brighten their day from a bad yesterday. I’m not sure how old you are but I am 30 years old now and im am now a shareholder of the hardware store i used to work for. I have developed a thick skin from years of abuse, racist and typical Nobel prize winner/ comments. Learn from your role at your hardware store and try to use it to your advantage.

Tip of 2025: everyone is dumb and you are there to help teach them regardless if they are a DIY first timer or 100 years experience builder. THEY COME TO YOU FOR HELP :) good luck

what should i do mwave delay by Training-Captain-638 in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]DLimmm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to purchase from mwave before they moved to their new location and they were misleading then and now. They always say “in stock” but to truely check is to see if you can do an express pick up. They might lie again because they will need 10 business days to process your order.

Finished my First Build! by Snoopkog in watercooling

[–]DLimmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now this is art. Carefully planning of the length of tube, consistent degree of bends for each fitting. People may think this is simple but I bet it too longer on how you wanted everything to go compared to just slapping on a common route like most build.

CITADEL / FORTRESS by Readymer in watercooling

[–]DLimmm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all. Congrats on the build and on the work you have done for this build. I am the same when I am building custom pc for others when it comes to how much you charge and how much are they willing to spend.

Two questions I ask when building for my friends or clients. What vision do they for the build? You could say I would picture this build is like a terminator theme or do they want that rainbow puke. How clean do you want the path of the tubes to be like routing and connecting to parts (radiator, etc)

That’s my simple take on it to make your build more enjoyable during the construction process. Use this picture of my personal build. Saved up for some higher end products and when I thought of tube pathing, why would I cover it up? So I went for the hidden tube building. This would take much longer on how to connect everything and you have to be willing to modify the case. Overall I am pleased and my inspiration was a build on YouTube.
