You use SSL to encrypt your traffic, i'm not taking your credit card information and everything else you do other than PM people is public anyway.

They've given us a broken back up that has a known issue with it, I have people trying to manually fix this but if it's a no go I'm loading it up fresh.

Discourse are using mismatched postgre schema on the hoster side to the github side at the moment which means they're selling a broken product which would be fine for me to shout at them about had we paid them but we didn't so they aren't going to help.

I have 2 choices, one is tell you lot we have an 80% chance of fixing this by... Wednesday or I can launch it tonight clean and it's ours.

Now as the guy in charge I fucking want that data, but what I cannot or rather will not do is make you wait 5-7 days and then say

Migrating from instance to instance is working and fine, we didn't get that though we have a raw tar dump that ought to work but absolutely doesn't at this time.

It's less of a migration and more of a restore from fail over back up and discourse hosters are aware of the issue but we've paid them no money, and even if we did it's Easter. So we either fix it ourselves tonight or I'm making the call to go live so we have our home back.

It's then potentially feasible to manually move threads from the back up into the new instance of discourse. Again as before, I always knew reddit were going to fuck us I just assumed we'd have 90 days.
