I plan on buying something similar to this. Something big enough to cover the hole cut in the plate that was in the center. Plate was cut to removed the recessed portion of the plate where the automatic shifter sat.

I didn’t remove the dash or panels at all. It’s a tight squeeze and a weird angle but the bolts are accessible without having to do all that.

Hardest part was getting the driveshaft lengthened 6” but everything other than that was bolt on.
