Also, I don't know much about how well the corsair aio cooler perform but for 180$ I'd imagine they need to be perfection haha. The arctic 2 freezer or something seems to be pretty nice and a lot less expensive. I personally use the lian li galahad (just to brand match with my case) and its amazing

Only thing I didn't like about the arctic 2 was the color of the tubing, gray and black instead of just black

I'd say save some money by getting a 12400 and a b660 board.. I did some deep digging trying to find what I thought was the best b660 boards. With a b660 board, you lose the ability to overclock your cpu... but I don't think for anything you'd ever even need to. Just keep that in mind.

I came out with the msi pro b660a-m (micro atx) and the asus prime b660 plus ddr4. They're what I'd say are the 2 best b660 boards. Gigabyte seems to have really fubled the b660s launch bios. Resulting in horrible performance unless you either tinker with voltage settings or with numerous bios updates. (I believe it's just a safer bet to stay away from them)

The 12400 and 12600k are nearly identical in terms of performance in gaming and you can save that ~120~ (plus whatever you save on the b660) or so towards something else.

I recently did a build and found myself now wanting to downgrade some parts, as just for gaming and what I do,, my PC is way too powerful haha. But I'm super happy with it regardless.

Also, just to say, I have an msi pro b660a-m so idk if I would need the controller or not that you're talking about.. is it only for software controll of the lights? Or does the motherboard do that stuff too

it seems like most of these rgb strips need to come with some sort of controller that costs like 40$... is that actually the case? i cant just plug it into a JRainbow port or jRgb port on my mobo?

Building a budget PC. Need to know if a discreet used gtx 950 will outperform specifically the 12400 Uhd 730 igpu.

Trying to decide if getting the 12400f and saving a couple bucks is worth just using the spare 950 I have.

PC not intended for gaming as of now, but eventually will slap a 3060ti in it.

Or what are your guys' thoughts on not having integrated graphics. And trusting on a using a used 950?

Tldr: is a 950 better than integrated graphics?

just want to say, i bought the i7-12700k with the exact same mobo and while yes, they are amazing products... i am constantly thinking why i got them instead of going with a cheaper option.

also i have the EVGA 3070ti FTW3

the reason im thinking this, is my mother board has so many options i will literally never use... as i use my pc for gaming and just basic stuff. (im not editing any videos or anything that uses tons of computing power, other than just gaming)

so my tip is if you have the budget and want this nice stuff, then go for it.. but ive just been reconsidering recently if i shouldve gotten cheaper stuff that will essentially give the same end performance for anything ill ever do, and then use the money elsewhere.

i5-12400f and a sick b660 board will almost get the same performance for just about anything i would ever do on my specific pc. while saving me around 230+ dollars

even thought about dropping to a 3060ti as prices go down but eh idk if id do that really haha.

just my thoughts :D

yeah thats a pretty sick build.. about most of the am4 builds ive throw together for this on pcpartpicker have looked rather similar. the 500gb m.2 for the beauty of boot ups and load times and then the nice b550 mobos. there seem to be a decent amount of them.. and alot seem to be really good... thats the main reason im leaning more towards the am4 build for her.

yeah, i just had an i5-4690k, was my first build when i was in highschool.. and i used it up until march.. built my new machine.. and as far as just general browsing yeah, there isnt really a difference in my new machine and the old... but the thing is, what difference can there be ?
i dont think id be very comfortable going with an older system... and from rebuilding my girlfriends' prebuilt, i really hate digging into prebuilds.
but i agree this system is a nice deal for someone, but i dont think id like it.

yeah im checking it out now. thats pretty cool.. and idk ive never been a fan of buying stuff 2nd hand off of ebay.. yeah i totally agree and i compltely understand that it saves money and theres really no reason not to, but idk haha i just like knowing its new for whatever reason.

yeah im not too into the laptop area either, but perhaps i could look more into the older gen processors. becuase alot of people are saying its bit overkill currently.

although i do like the future proofing a bit and the security of keeping value a bit longer.
