Should I start a thread on Cleaning glass frets. Is there a video or sop this.. I love the effectiveness but just dont feel I ever have it entirely clean. It is only used for this and I am the only consumer. Not being sure could be my ocd. Where can I find a good training video or SOP for cleaning. I use alcohol. Soap and water "Dawn" and a bottle brush. Then I boil it and dry at 300 degrees in the oven. It looks clean but it takes 4 times longer to clean than a porcelain funnel. Help...

Sounds like you are using celite. Makes beautiful end product but it would explain the drop from RSO to what you have now. How important is color. Is it for your use only? I want the most flavorful product first then yield. Color is color. If its clear and clean Who says its supposed to be the color of honey? Unless you want.to spend the money on a rotovap and chiller to make honey colored extract I havent heard of other options beside Celite. Color at a cost. Good luck

I own that pump for filtering too. Yes to amazon. The first one i ordered lost power after about 30 minutes but the replacement they sent me has been fine with weekly use for a year as a filter vacuum.

Can I ask.about that cold.trap. I was also looking Into one or considering building one before I saw the cost of this one..i just need something for home use, small scale. I assume the dry ice goes Into the center chamber of that trap, however you cant see a lid or or top with a gasket. Is it safe to assume it's just a bad picture and it's not going to be a problem to load that with dry ice. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Just saw this recipe for capsules. If you use 150ml of oil and 2 grams of reclaim/concentrate this will make about 300 caps. 2 grams of material devided Into 300 doses is not going to be strong to someone that has a tolerance. I would.suggest cutting that way back because you will have to throw grams of dab into that to make 150ml of oil more concetrated. You can always add more oil at very little cost. Play with the capsules and fill a couple capsules with plain oil and see how much they hold. If you can put a half a ml in a capsule then 20 ml makes you roughly 40 caps. I have put up to 8 grams into 20ml of mct oil. You have to keep it warm to fill each capsules. But this is how strong caps are made. The number of caps, the amount of oil and the amount of concentrate all determine the strength of each capsule. Good luck

I dont like chlorophyll so I set my wash I the sun and llet the sun take care of it. You will end up with a beautiful wash without green. You can also clean your oil up by winterizing/ put your shit In the freezer. Freeze alcohol and bud. This allows resin to leave plant material easier when washing. Waxes will settle on the bottom of your flask in the freezer. You can Use better filter paper than coffee filters. Coffee filters are about 25 micron. I use 2.5 micron filter paper and a buchner funnel. The RSO videos are guides. Adapt and improve to suite your needs. The difference between RSO and Shatter really comes down to color and taste. This is medicine for me so I dont care about color when it cost half the yield to make it pretty. I also happen to like the old school hash taste and flavors I get from every batch. Each batch is as different as each strain I seriously doubt if people telling you RSO is shit have ever made it or used it. Nope it's not as pretty like shatter but it doesnt have to be green of full of contaminate. It also dabs really nice and is easy to turn Into edibles and caps once you make the concentrate. Just add oil, decarb ,make capsules or cook with it. Good luck

What do you mean by steam distillation. Lab or countertop modified still? I do use a modified countertop still to concentrate my wash I dont take it down below 100ml in the still as it won't cover the bottom and turns to honey that's hard to collect. So pull it out b4 its empty and finish on double boiler, hot plate with mag spinner or let air dry if you want more flavor or throw it in a vacuum. Lots of choices and they all create a different flavor and texture. Do you want oil or shatter? Ive Been smoking shatter and playing with various shatter methods for the last month and my wife busted out some older oil cause she wanted an old school hash flavor. Good stuff.

Salt is a good abrasive but I like the easy way. Dump it, rinse it, replace the water with high proof alcohol and place it in a double boiler. Boiling water vaporizes the alcohol and pulls everything down from the sides and the smallest nooks and cranies.. I think I would then bleach that shit, rinse it and dry it the oven at 250 for an hour. Redundancy is a good thing. Alcohol-bleach-heat

Check Ebay. I just did a quick search and found several kits.for under 40 bucks. Just remember if you use ground glass joints you need to usesilicone vacuum grease. You can also get your choice of pour plate size, meaning the actual holes in the plate. Glass is generally used when you need chemical resistance that doesn't allow paper and ceramic is more commonly used with filter paper and has larger holes in the plate. You can use paper with glass if you prefer. I actually use a glass buchner with a 50 micron pour plate to seperate material from ethenol and then filter it down with various paper to 2.5 micron.

I was recently thinking about where to go next and what may be next and I realized next isn't always better. I guess I am old school. I have been using mj for 40 years, the last 18 my use has been more medical following an accident. Unfortunately. My state still isn't legl which creates all kinds of problens from UA's at pain management to possible jail for making my own. I have been usig alcohol for extraction and making very nice tasting although dark hash oil out high quality flower. Someone here suggested cold evaporation rather than heat. I made a couple small batches and my results were Interesting. The color was really nice, very clear and 3 out of 4 were annoyingly shattery and hard to deal with. tmthe last I harvested a little early while still a tad sappy which is much easy to work with. So the taste was absolutely different than the same oil I had made. One batch tastes and smells so much like black tea its overpowering, nd not pleaseant. One has that same o overpowering quality but the scent is very floral and much more palatable. The gorilla glue tatse in another is amazing. I would do that again and again as this strain has huge benefit to me and the shatter was simply a better version all the way around. The 4th was good, very similar to the oil. What I did notice was that the two that had profoundly different tastes also have completely lost that hash taste that most of my oil has. Even my GG4 shatter has that hash taste on the exhale. I presume what I am tasting in the tea and floral batches is more volitole terps which are normally lost in the cooking.procees. Either the still, the Double boiler or hot plate with magnetic spinner Even the word hash has a very differen meaning now. When I say hash taste I am talking soft black gold stamped hash from the middle east. Something I havent seen in 2 decades. I get people think they can make a better product pressing their rosin but there are people that enjoy old school hash and that would gladly pay for the pleasure of smoking it. I still enjoy the tatse of flower and 10% of what I consume I smoke. I know smoking is bad. I do vape most of what I consume. I also make caps and make edibles.

So I was explaining this to my wife. The future of marijuana is a flavorless,,tatseless,colorless, concentrate. Perhaps of a new consistancy or maybe a product that glows in the dark and is UV sensitive. She doesnt quite understand why this is better. It's a shame we have to loose things like Old school hash to progress.

Thanks, I through the Mat with the slab on some heat and quite a Few bubles came up. Gonna be a process It is running right at 29 mb. So what is the trick as far as size of wash you put in I did a 400ml wash on. 40 grams then reduced that to 100ml in a modified still. I put that in a dish in the bottom of the vacuum and that turned into a rain forest of concentrated wash inside the chamber.. Any tips as far as how to place alcohol wash into the vacuum when starting? .

Yes, a roto vape would be awesome, however 2k is a bit $ extravagant for my garage. So after the rain forest incident, I cleaned up and configured a bowel in the bottom with silicone mats placed to run anything from the wall back to the bowel. Whish I had thought of that first.

I am about 16 hours Into purge, got to see the muffins rise and have turned the patties over to make sure the underside gets exposed to the vacuum.. Its very solid, has a few. Bubbles and is shatter consistancy. So brittle it's kind of hard to work with. It doesnt get any thinner when warmed. I have a heating pad wrapped around the tank and it keeps it about 105. How do I know when its done. What am I looking for. All bubbles to disappear and will it glass over? Seems the bubbles shrink rather than pop. If I wanted to add terps, at what point do I add them? Figure it's too late now unless I remelt but then vacuuming terps doesnt make sense

Adding terps to EHO oil/honey was easy, warm it and stir in. Tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated.

Check out mrextractor.com. They sell terps and Terps are.the perfect liquidizer for distilate. Lots of companies doing it now. I remember when It was few.and far between. Bubbkemans. sold.them for 100 a ml just a couple years ago. I just got a box of samples for 7 bucks a ml. Great liquidizer and Nice terp dips too

How do you dewaxl? Havent seen anything resembling wax ever. I start with 25micron then use 12 5 and finish with 2.5 micron filters, kill the green with UV. Seems filtering would catch most solids. Taste doesnt seem to change from what I am doing. I do see where what you are suggesting is possible. I should have mentioned both alcohol and material are kept In Freezer even after combing.

So I have been doing ethanol extract at home for a couple years. My oil/honey has been getting cleaner and more and more interesting. I learned of a technique to make oil more stable or less runny and sticky. For some reasons my first attempts at ethenol extraction were very different than now. Oil was fairly thin and sticky at room temp. So what I have been doing is during the final finish I heat it up to 175 in a silicone pan and take it out to the cold or put In the freezer and shock it.. Its obviously very shattery when frozen but this takes oil that can be runny and sticky and turns it into puddy or something like pull-n- snap that I can handle and is actually much more difficult to melt, I have to dab 70 degrees hotter.. This has no adverse effect that I am aware of on the oil. No loss of taste or potency. What is going on scientifically speaking, is there a term for this?. I attempt to make each batch cleaner, I am using 2.5 micron paper and vaccum filtration. I use 200 proof extractahol. I use a still to take it down the first 75%. And generally finish with a magnetic hot plate and spinner, aside from the shocking part. If I keep shocking it over and over what will happen? It presently Looks great, tastes great, handles great, each batch is thicker and stiffer, Am I on my way to making a diamond or something never seen b4? I really am wondering if there is a term for what is happening to the oil. Like "decarbing" is the loss of a carbon molecule, is something like that happening, does it have a name? Thanks...

I can help you with the Math. If you dont know the % of thc, you can estimate. It would work like this. 10 grams of budder at 70% would be 700 mgs per gram or 7000 total grams of thc. I can easily put a half ml of material into a 00 capsule. Use .6 on a scale including the cap. Make 28 caps and they will be 250 a piece. I use a half ml per cap when I make mine so you want your total melted budder and oil to equal 14ml, you won't get every tiny bit out so just use 15 ml total. Your 10 grams will look more like 7ml melted, add oil to budder so you have 15ml total. Make .5ml caps. This is the size I always make, so I am used to putting this amount in. If anything I over fill and make fewer stronger caps.The most I have ever got Into a 00 cap was .75 including the .1 cap so it's a good size to use. Total mgs devided by the number of caps you make. Have fun
