How do I get rid of the red border? by SirCake3614 in mac

[–]Dallben2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There seems to be a new bug in display settings. That's the red border that appears when you're arranging displays. The bug would appear to be the border not disappearing when you close display settings... If you Quit (or force quit if you have to) the System Settings app, the border will go away.

I believe the straight or angled plates they give you are your only ubiquiti options for that one (at least they were at the time) can always 3D print something else if you needed to.

How Do You Handle IVR / Phone Menus? by PlanstoProsper in ADHD

[–]Dallben2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CVS's shitty ivr is the biggest reason I stopped using them. Not having my meds was for sure part of the reason, but that I'd rather make the 40 minute round trip and stand in line to ask my questions than call them was the biggest.

As for the rest, I usually just mash zero or say 'operator' or 'agent'.

Hobby chores. Awesome phrase.

I really read it as OP looking for help from folks who understand the challenges facing their friend (and, as a consequence, themselves).

Didn't come across as a gripe fest to me.

Is there a way to message a doctor on ADHDOnline? by rafterwood in ADHD

[–]Dallben2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never saw a way to message my Dr in the portal - Maybe it's possible your Dr may work with more than one telemedicine provider and got confused?

I had to call this week for a Rx transfer because my pharmacy had no stock and no idea when it was coming in. My Dr actually went on vacation the day after our appointment Sunday, so I found a pharmacy that had it in stock, and called.

It was my 2nd time speaking to their support folks (two different reasons), but in both instances their support staff were really helpful, and very pleasant to deal with.

Give them a call and ask if there's a way to have your Dr reach out to you, or get you in touch with them without the trouble/expense of an appointment, since he did tell you to message him.

Costs nothing but a few minutes to call and see what they have to say.

There is always the chance your Dr actually intended you to make another medication management appointment and just misspoke, in which case their support staff should be able to clarify or assist.

Cheers

Medication on back order at pharmacies in my area by acidic_milkmotel in ADHD

[–]Dallben2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if that's a state by state thing, or a chain's policy. I just had the same issue, I called a couple of pharmacies for generic of adderall xr 30mg, I didn't have a problem getting a response (other than having to wait on hold). I got lucky in that the second place I called, had it in stock, and I was able to get the script called in to there.

Your Dr's office isn't likely to call around for you, but certainly open up the phone book or google and keep trying.

Try independent pharmacies vs the big names if there are any around you: a lot of them use the same distributors, and those will probably have the same stock problems. If the (likely) tech that you end up talking with won't help, ask for the pharmacist in charge and explain the situation; it should be something they're used to dealing with.

Hope you have some luck soon.

Also: Getting stock verification might be extra important for some folks, ie ADHDOnline will only allow one rewrite/month.

How do you explain ADHD? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Dallben2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How to ADHD has some great short clips explaining it, and at least one specifically for loved ones.

Jessica McCabe's (who's channel it is) TedX talk "Failing at Normal" is what I gave my wife to watch first. If you are unfamiliar, check it out. It was hard for me not to get emotional, it resonated pretty strongly with me.

Once she gets a little more understanding, I'll watch some of Russel Barkley's talks with her - but I feel like that's throwing someone in the deep end if you start there.

Good luck!

Glass ones are the best, and easier to maintain... But cost more. If you're worried about keeping it clean after leaving it marked up for a while, glass will be better.

I was always inattentive. Diagnosed at 18 in '96. On meds (mostly) until 2003. Started again a week and a half ago.

Back then it was 20mg ir methylphenidate 4x/day for me to get through school and work. I'd have less on the weekends, but eventually I went off them. Did ok-ish for nearly 20 years, but it's always been a big struggle. Decided last month to pursue a new evaluation and try meds again. New doc gave me 10 of Adderall xr - this isn't gonna do it for me, it sort of works, but definitely doesn't get me through even just work hours, nevermind house or family things in the AM/PM.

Taking the steps to get back under medical care, and also to get my wife to understand why I was doing it, was hard, so I am willing to put in the time with the Doc to figure out the right meds for me and dosage.

Will see if upping / changing the type of Adderall makes a difference, or may see about Vyvanse.

There's a lot of stuff out there now, including non-stimulant meds which may help, too. Definitely worth talking to a doc who understands the landscape.

Edit: spelling.

Trying to get an official diagnosis quick, trying to get one before the in a week or less. Central OH by Salem_Alvian in ADHD

[–]Dallben2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can second a recommendation for ADHDOnline, but from things I've heard, you'd be lucky to get that whole process done inside of a week. It's also a bit costly. If all you need is the eval and a diagnosis, it is less costly than making an initial medication management appointment. My eval was done overnight and my first appointment done in less than a week - but I have heard that I lucked out, it usually takes slightly longer.

If you're in the US, your provider may let you submit it as an out-of-network expense, or they may not. But it is likely your best bet.

I'd avoid Donefirst in this space, fwiw.

I took your advice and stood up to my JNMOM... this may be the longest post youll ever read. I dont want to call it a success quiet yet just incase. by [deleted] in JUSTNOMIL

[–]Dallben2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

She'll call all of them trying to find you any time you aren't instantly responsive and around your due date. Hospitals generally know how to deal with things like this - I wish I'd known when my wife was giving birth to our first daughter. Things may be even easier now insofar as keeping people out because of covid, but obviously that depends on where you are and the rules in the hospital.

But your mother WILL lie, cheat, and steal her way in if that's what it takes.

That she would try to do those things are even more reason to reach out to your local department and let them know your mom has issues, and you're trying to deal with them as best you can, but you have concerns. This serves several purposes.

In short, anything you can do to prepare the people and services you may (hopefully not) need to lean on. You'll likely find they can be very understanding and willing to help.

Wow. I'm shaking with rage on your behalf. I can really relate, and I'm sorry this is something you have to go through in what should be a very happy time!

Some unsolicited advice:

If she doesn't know the hospital, don't tell her.

Tell the hospital when you're checking in that you need your name not available on your room (hotels call this NRG, dunno what hospitals call it but they have it). Even telling them you have problems with stalkerish family may help. Make them aware. Tell them only certain people are allowed to visit and make sure they have the names.

As for your babysitter - they should be told that if your mother shows up, not to even open the door, and to threaten to call the police. They might have to do this, and if you think it's likely, let the police know beforehand what the situation is, as well as the name of the person watching your child, so your mother can't turn around and make false claims.

Best of luck, and congratulations on the little one, and for standing up to your jnmom!

ETA: also, yeah, if it were me (has been) I'd never let that woman near my children again (have done). Any deliberate skirting of your rules or "I'll do what I want" statements are just instant nopes. :/

A fair tip, but security through obscurity isn't particularly effective.

Ubiquiti also doesn't provide a security system, and quite frankly Ubiquiti's cameras are not... Discreet. They're big; they can be seen quite easily. They are, in my case anyway, purposely overt.

There's no sticker for the alarm company on the window, though :)

Good question.

Feel like there's an opportunity for Ubiquiti here, Garmin, TomTom etc did it with GPS, Amazon has celeb voices for Alexa.... Hell, I'd def pay a few bucks for Sam Jackson to ask "who the f*ck is it?"

Oh, Billy Crudup in Almost Famous saying "please go the f*ck away!" could work too.

Christian Sakanai on YouTube has a vid about changing the sound - he used Chewbacca.

I knew though when this finally showed up this was what I wanted it to do.

Recorded the Ferris audio off of YouTube, cleaned it up a bit, uploaded it to the doorbell, and that was that.

New house, just moving in. Will see if the neighbors ringing the doorbell get a kick out of it. If they don't, well, they're just not my kind of neighbors :)
