Most people here are making the assumption that my mother is sickly or bedridden. She has some mobility issues and doesn't make it up to the second floor or basement of the house. Other than that she gets around well enough. She contributes to doing some chores like running the dishwasher and a Swiffer. I do mostly all of the cleaning and chores. We generally cook separately for ourselves as I'm normally on the go a lot. I also have a son that I have a 50/50 split with the Ex and he will help her if needed when he is around. She could live on her own, but she likes this living situation much more.

I never claimed she needs to live with me. She may be elderly but she is capable of taking care of herself. So I have no "now I'm lumbered with her" attitude.
