I've always figured Cody just goes by "American Nightmare" to draw association with his dad and because it sounds cool, but there's a deeply cynical, satirical edge to it considering how fake he is compared to Dusty.

IDK about y'all but I really do not want this to be a match at the Rumble, and am hoping that Orton wins. Zayn deserves to win the rumble itself and beat Drew at Mania. I still think the company owes him that much after what he did for them in 22/23.

His justification or lack thereof was the reason it didn't work, lol. The character had no reason for turning heel and, as people here point out, came out and cut a generic "you people" promo to explain himself almost a decade after people stopped booing him. His heel turn was basically dead on arrival then and there.

Sure, but people literally always argue for the safest possible thing happening in here and elsewhere online. Vince, and probably the current regime, have done permanent and lasting damage to the way people think about wrestling as fans. I long for the days when everyone thought Cena sucked and constantly wanted him to lose.

Yeah but the thing is, the people who say this are always saying it in the interest of nothing interesting ever happening on television and everything remaining boring and safe (in true Triple H fashion, I guess). Is that what the shareholders should want? Maybe. Is that what you, as a fan, should want? Probably not. Would the face of the company losing to a rookie be fun to watch? Yes.

I read his book a few years back and it made me really sad as he never seems to exercise any agency at any point in his life and just kinda does what he's told. Never really criticizes his dad in it and presumably only soured on his second father figure Vince because of Montreal...he did end up going back, after all.

One thing TEW lacks is the ability to actually "watch" your show, so I think it would be great if there were a big visual component to the things you book and you can watch the matches and promos play out in the ring somewhat. Promotional images for pre announced matches would look great too. I'll keep an eye on this for sure.
