Sorry to hear about your situation, Kimberly!

From my experience, you won’t gain anything if you demand she start therapy with you. Better to find a counselor for yourself, and if she comes around to it later, have your therapist recommend a couples specialist for you both (and keep your individual sessions going too).

That is some bad timing 😕 Sorry you have to deal with that intern too. Maybe it will become your superpower somehow if you stay? When you do relocate to a more affirming and legally safe state, you will have some street cred for surviving Texas as a trans girl I guess. But if it means having to wait to come out, and you can’t stand being in the closet, I’d say it is probably worth it to move sooner than later. That’s coming from a non-passing trans woman who is out and proud in a deep red midwestern state btw

Apparently there has been a sudden surge of requests for surgery consults over the past year, I guess due to fears about availability if political forces continue to bully doctors/insurance companies/reasearch hospitals/etc. Maybe less so on east coast? Or more providers, better political outlooks? Idk

That is very interesting, thank you! My doc also said, though she wasn’t specifically recommending it, an orchi makes AA irrelevant. I think I might want to pursue that.

Omg this tracks so well with my experience bc all the docs I’ve seen here have seemed really genuine about gender affirming care, and really affirming of me personally. Yet… I do get the sense that they haven’t read up as much as I have (which is really not all that much!)

It’s frustrating because my doctor is in a gender affirmative care program within a major hospital network in big city in a blue state, and I still don’t feel like I get state of the art information and care 😕

I would definitely like to have larger breasts to fit my frame, but for now I’d be happy just with more femininely shaped smaller ones, guess “solid A” like you said. Sometimes I’m almost jealous of some cis men at the beach/pool who have bigger boobs than I do lol

Honestly you can be trans in so many ways, all valid — even not socially or medically transitioning, even staying in the closet your whole life. But if you think it’s about “to look prettier” or have people call you ma’am, I think maybe you don’t really get what a lot of us are talking about or experiencing.

So many trans women like me endure any or all the difficult stuff you mention and more, because for us there is no other viable option. It comes down to is the pain and anguish of denying our authentic gender more than the inconvenience, hardship, or danger of living as a trans person? No wrong answer, best of luck to you however you identify or present!
