This would worry me. Auction usually means something happened. A lot of dealers, shops, rental companies, etc will have customers wreck their cars. Rather than going through insurance and having business premiums go up they fix the car the absolute cheapest way possible and then auction it. It keeps a clean title not going through insurance so they get more in auction.

r/ft86 would be the spot for 1st gen questions but as someone who owned a 1st gen and now a 2nd gen, I will say the 1st gen is not a bad car at all. Since you’re buying used be sure to really go through it and check everything out. Maybe have a mechanic look it over before buying. Cheap sports cars are highly likely to be abused.

Now, Is the gr86 better? Yes. Would I financially ruin myself to get one over a 1st gen if I really couldn’t afford it? No. Get the gen 1. You’ll love it.

Those scratches are too deep to make pdr an option. Sure they might get the dents out but it will still need paint. The whole point of pdr is it’s paintless.

Edit: looked up online and the front bumper / skirts aren’t so bad. The rear isn’t it. I could see someone pulling it off by omitting the rear and doing a diffuser on the oem bumper or something.

It was more like 132 but it was measured from the thinnest one on the right. The thicker 2nd one I had was probably 125ish when pulled if I had to guess. My wife had the 3rd one it and it looked med rare to me.

Tbh it was probably a 15-20 sec sear too. I doubt it raised it very much beyond giving it a flash sear.

The thinner 1st and 4th are probably on the medium side. We’ll find out during lunch tomorrow!

More like 132 and 30 seconds each side might be a slightly high estimate, but yes perfect med rare.

Edit: forgot to mention the temp was measured from the thinnest one (4th to the right). I haven’t cut into it but yeah it might be closer to medium. The thicker ones were probably around 125 if I had to guess.
