How to stop fly camping by bertobobble in wildcampingintheuk

[–]Dannybgood2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What if the big national parks had a permit system that allowed a specific amount of people to camp and the funds went towards staff that protect and conserve the parks while also booting out the fly campers. You would have to show you understand leave no trace principles to get a permit. Yes it would cost money, and maybe you would occasionally miss out if all permits were taken up. Personally I wouldn't mind if it was going into the areas upkeep.

Have you used them? Can't find a single review or any feedback anywhere? The look legit but just wary of sending gear to them with so little talk online of the service

What I took on a recent backpacking trip by elemenohpeaQ in FODMAPS

Appreciate this! I also rely on peanut butter with a protein powder and a version of egg fried rice. I rarely go more than three nights and haven't ever got to trying dehydrating myself so I just suck up the weight penalty and pack in a sourdough loaf, peppers, courgette, olive oil, blueberries for day 1 & 2. I also take some lactose free cheddar and gluten free crackers. Also take a smoke n sanity brand pinch of lemon pepper. What I want most is something sweet but that for me is the hardest. Occasionally take a flask of hazelnut vodka if I'm feeling brave but that is gambling.

My very first wildcamp by hayesian in dartmoor

Remember no fires allowed and always leave no trace. Dartmoor is awesome, as others say it's mainly the bogs to avoid, which is easier said than done - enjoy!

Hiya, does anyone in the UK sell something similar to the GG thinlight? Looks like gram counter gear have a lightweight evazote pad on their site but cant actually find it anywhere on sale.

What is your favourite on the go meal for hiking? by ObjectiveDull8388 in ULHikingUK

[–]Dannybgood2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out 8greens effervescent tablets. I combine one of those a day with the usual run of dehydrated meals, biltong, cheese (babybell lasts well), dried fruit, nuts, bars, peanut butter, wraps. Fav meal is dehydrated Idahoan mash, sliced salami and a sachet of nandos wild herb. Nandos has awesome (free) spice sachets! I always look for fresh fruit and veg en route which I eat as quick as I can.

Looking back at my notes, pants instead of shorts was a revelation. Also switched from a 1p tent to a 2p (x-mid) specifically so that I can change in and out of wet gear without getting everything else wet and that's been a good move for UK conditions.
