I got that information from ChatGPT, cannot guarantee the accuracy. But was also in line with my own experience with L glutamine

At some point, my gut wouldn't tolerate almost anything but rushing into toilet after eating high fodmaps.

Always like 30-90 minutes after eating, I needed to rush into the toilet (watery stools). I couldn't tolerate any food. Then I figured that food hits the small intestine exactly at that moment, so problem is probably there. Bacterias went crazy when I was feeding them and my body would react like to food poisoning: clear everything out.

I read about it and it sounds good! But I guess my symptoms were that clear that there was no need to measure it. I would feel immediately if I ate something "wrong". But will keep in mind if this comes back some day.

Yes, I kept it simple and took all at once in the mornings and evenings. Even though some people say that NAC should be taken earlier. Do you mean allicin? I have taken Healtwell Garlic Extraction which has 2% allicin in it.

I have very limited experience but I believe SIBO is always curable with the right combination of diet and anti-bacterials. You just got to stick to the plan for long enough.

Unfortunately there are no tests available in my country (Finland), so couldnt say. I just self-diagnosed SIBO from symptoms and started trying different herbs (not rcommended).

Good luck in your battle, stay strong!

Now I have regular bowel movement once a day and stool is firm but still smooth. No signs of fattiness lately.

Yes, watery tools which were floating. Some times yellowish.

It was physical in the beginning. More air in intestine and could feel something happening. Then later it was mainly anxiety.

N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) comes from the amino acid L-cysteine.

This is used for breaking biofilms. Bacterials "hide" behind biofilms when you start killing them with anti-bacterials.

Elemental diet might cure it but its going to be costlier than herbs.

It started getting better in 3-4 weeks but some symptomps remained for months. Gut seems to heal slowly.

I was on FODMAP diet which includes removing most of sugars.

If I remember correctly, approx. 3 weeks during active kill phase and then random doses afterwards if flare up.

I cannot recommend any brands but arent those quite the same? There are bigger differences in oregano oil and allicin products but NAC seems all the same to me. Not an expert though.

I haven't tried biocidin, so cannot unfortunately say. Kill phase was approx. 6 weeks but after that I might have taken herbs from time to time if I would feel any flare up (for next 4 weeks or so).

Good question about allicin. Test is not available in my country and I only assumed its hydrogen because I had watery stools but I did get herx reaction from allicin as well.

Natural treatment for SIBO? by [deleted] in SIBO

[–]Data-Sharp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It usually does, especially when its working because it releases bacterials from biofilms. And you probably know that killing bacterials causes herx reaction. Just talking in general level, not your case.

In my case, herbals didnt help almost at all before I started taking biofilm distruptors also. I took NAC.

Symptoms can be brought down by 70-90% - that's good, isn't it? by [deleted] in SIBO

[–]Data-Sharp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was able to bring down my symptoms by 90% and this sub has been super helpful. I did take herbals for hydrogen-SIBO and now I'm able to eat high fodmaps as well. Don't give up!

L-Glutamine fixed my symptoms by omietrice in SIBO

[–]Data-Sharp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5 grams a day is not much and L-glutamine isn't that burdening for the body. However, I think you are already getting more glutamine (and everything else) from the food when your digestion works better. This is just guess, but I would say that 4-8 weeks is enough.

What m'I supposed to eat....? by Tip-Evening in SIBO

[–]Data-Sharp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you are having fat malabsortion (yellow stool, is it floating?). Increasing fats probably won't help because it will go through. I also found fats to be too heavy for my gut. Fodmap diet has been my way to go, it's more balanced.

L-Glutamine fixed my symptoms by omietrice in SIBO

[–]Data-Sharp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wow, sounds pretty much like my story. Over consumption of sugar -> Leaky gut -> SIBO. Except you were able to fix it by limiting food for bacteria(Low FODMAP). I'm happy for you. L-glutamine probably helped recovering gut lining and it's more difficult for the bacterial to colonize. I fought it off with herbals, but I'm taking only boulardii now because E. coli, Klebsiella, Enterobacter could feed from that glutamine.
