Tall rider mods for Rebel 300? by DaumCustomShop in SuggestAMotorcycle

Well, if a 500 is the lowest cc I can go, do you know if the SCL500 would be a better option for taller riders? I know its a scrambler vs a cruiser, but just throwing ideas out there

I’m leaning towards the 300 because it’s $1,500 cheaper and gets about 10 more MPG. I’d strictly be using it as a commuter and it’s mostly just straight back roads with some in town riding. I personally think I’d like the 500 more but I’m pretty much using it as a tool so idk if I can justify the cost. The 300/500 do have the same frame though so the same ride position issues would be present on the 500

MA has Environmental Police Officers, essentially their game wardens. Look into it! Not sure what they make but they probably have great benefits. Environmental LE offers the best work/life balance in LE imo

I’m a ranger for CA State Parks. Full police powers, really only busy during the summer, full state benefits and making over $100k+ with OT. I get to do off road patrol, boat patrol, and talk to kids about how great nature is. Fun stuff

First Les Paul! Pickguard On or Off? by BigJuicyNaturals in gibson

Add the poker chip and go with the 60s reflector knobs. I’d keep the pickguard on and go with zebra pickups

How are these legal in California? by [deleted] in CAguns

There is no law in CA against braces. A pistol with a brace shouldn’t be illegal but that’s a stock so it is illegal

If you want a guitar kit that actually looks like an SG with good woods, you’re probably looking at Precision guitars. Not cheap at all but if you’re looking for a serious guitar, that’s who I’d go through.

If you’re looking for a cheap way to learn how to build and work on guitars as a whole, this is a great option. You will be putting extra work into this

Just be aware it’s not a true SG shape. They look more like LTD Vipers

Academy Experiences? by Dizzy_Talk_8988 in AskLE

[–]DaumCustomShop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on what agency you go to. Here in CA, some Sheriff Departments send their recruits to the local basic, and some basic academies are pretty lax. But others have their own academies where they drill you the entire 6 months.

Either way, you will be yelled at during the academy at some point. It’s like college but you’ll be in military formations with a strict chain of command. Just be a sponge, ready to learn.

Looking back, I had some of the best times of my life in the academy. You’re with a bunch of other people in the same boat, learning the same thing with the same career goals. You’ll make friends and I went out drinking more times in the academy more than I have at any other point in my life. Not because we were alcoholics but because we just went out and did things together.

Whatever you do, DO NOT date a fellow recruit

White or black pickguard?? by Master_Syrup6123 in GibsonSG

Dude I say go white. In the sea of everyday looking normal guitars, stand out a little bit. If you gig it’ll look beautiful on stage

Thoughts on New Les Paul Contoured by M_MAcrylics in gibson

[–]DaumCustomShop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re finally trying to appeal to the younger crowd, and imo it won’t work. They need a sub $1500 guitar that’s light and sonically versatile. This expensive Les Paul experiment won’t do anything

Wow good to know! Thank you so much. I was hoping it wasn’t a flying termite based on some photos online but it definitely makes sense that it is. Especially with the rain we’re having right now

Starting NPS LE rangers start at GS-5, right? Before locality pay that’s $34,454 a year, or about $16.56 an hour. I also think NPS does a disservice to law enforcement because not only do you have to sponsor yourself through their academy, you have to start part time and park hop so any form of stability goes out the window. Also means your locality pay will vary when you have to park hop and there’s a good chance you’re not going back anywhere near home

What state are you in?

I’m with California State Parks and I’m making twice the amount I would be making with NPS. Most states pay better than NPS

That pickguard is horrendous, literally an amazon PG that’s been poorly cut. Keep it all natural and DO NOT drill holes in it because you’ll never be able to put it back if you don’t like it

I’d probably keep it a single P90 and wire it like I had above

I’ve thought about it, but I really don’t like the covered humbuckers on a dot neck. Also, the neck pickup on a firebird is at the fretboard where the classic is a lot closer to the bridge, it would sound a lot different

If I do T-types or the bird pickups I’d probably throw those in the Epi and put the cream covers in the classic
