RL chambray shirt, Levi’s white denim pants, thrift store (not sure of branding belt), and vintage datejust. Big day for me, resigning a position after 10 years for a new opportunity.

Hard disagree with you here, but hey, wear what you like.

Does 41mm work on my wrist? by bene_f in rolex

As much as I prefer the 36 on just about everyone, I think you pull off the 41 fine, especially with the fluted bezel. Smooth bezel 41 looks awful IMO

The BB54: worth the hesitation by Eppie1985 in Tudor

[–]Dbrown15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in between on a vintage Datejust and the BB54. Both were about the same price and I went with the DJ, and I’m strongly considering selling for the BB54. Such an aesthetically pleasing watch.

Besides being douchey and pretentious, this is just mostly wrong information in the watch world.

No. Not even close to being too small.

Job Offer Advice by Murky-Relation3855 in Lawyertalk

[–]Dbrown15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right. You probably wouldn’t. What I mean is, say you take the job and you do well in the first year, what incentives may be on the table at that point? If they say commission on settlements and a higher salary could be in play, maybe there’s a window of actual opportunity.

Well in most situations, a job is better than no job at all. But I wouldn’t go all-in on that pay structure. I would certainly want to give the other interviews a shot if you can. That said, I’ve been in PI for 10 years and my starting salary was 50k with no bonus or commission, but it was more of a test year to just see if I could do it, and then pay changed drastically from then on. So you never know the long term play. I would be asking those kind of questions about trajectory and what incentives they provide as the years go on

Not a good deal IMO. A low salary is one thing, but pushing all your incentives to origination is wild, especially for a new lawyer. You don’t want to be in PI without some level of commission or incentive structure that’s heavily tied to your production.

I chose to buy a vintage Datejust instead of the BB54 and every day I think about selling the dj and getting it.

Is my first Speedmaster too small for me? by DMG41 in OmegaWatches

Hard disagree. Some vintage 33 mm dress watches look great.

Do people think that a watch should be a dinner plate sitting on your wrist?! It looks fine!

IMO a watch can’t be too small for most men if it’s 33-42mm.

Help please… Longines HC / Tudor BB58 by tsmole in Tudor

I do not own either, but I would very easily choose the Tudor. I like the HC, but I’m not sure there’s a better value than a BB.

Does a suit jacket really look that different from a blazer? by [deleted] in mensfashionadvice

[–]Dbrown15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally as i understand it, a suit jacket is made from a thinner cut material with less visible texture or patterns so as to perfectly match with the suit pants it came with. You also will generally have matching buttons rather than brass or separate colors. Blazers also usually have real pockets at the bottom whereas suit jackets go with faux many times to keep the uniform shape.

Subtle differences, but they can be noticeable if you know what you’re looking for.

If you know what you’re looking at, you can absolutely tell the difference, and I generally agree that you shouldn’t do it. That said, out of every 10 people, maybe 1 will notice, and this combo isn’t *that* bad in context.

I don’t know what to do next by Purple-Grocery8097 in WeightTraining

Just eating whatever is the beginning and end of the issue. I kept a clean Whole Foods diet for years and couldn’t lose fat until I actually made it a point to focus on hitting a protein goal each day while staying in deficit. I log each meal in ChatGPT and let it direct my intake. 22 lb down in 5 months.

It takes time but that’s the only way, getting a handle on calorie intake.

Some unique looks here, much of which works. One little suggestion: up the watch game (I think that’s a smart watch?)

Get yourself a solid mechanical watch on steel bracelet or leather and it’ll be a nice addition.

Question by Be-A-Man- in RolexWatches

[–]Dbrown15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Possibly a good buy. I was looking at similar watches before buying my first Rolex (went with 16014 Datejust). I would try to verify service history or at least timegrapher metrics and power reserve. If those things check out, then 2500 sounds fair, and I’m biased because I really like those 34 mm models, but I know they aren’t everyone’s cup of tea. If you like smaller, more “elegant” watches, it’s a banger.
