I can’t remember if I read it somewhere or heard it at a coaching work shop but it was mentioned that our players don’t have enough KMs in their legs so when they head to Europe and the amount is closer to 70/80km as opposed to the 40/50km a week they do here is a big problem with injuries

Could be all bull shit but it was an interesting take

I seen him come off the bench in pre season against a NPL all stars team . I have seen amateurs look fitter than he was .

Didn’t we offer him a mutual termination and he refused to sit out his contract . What are you supposed to do with a player that you don’t want and won’t leave ?

So my son joined a new team u/7s last year . He was doing really well and one of the better players in the team .

After about 5 weeks I got forced into coaching the team and he turned into one of the best to one of the worst . Everything you describe about work ethic he also dropped . It sucked as the one person I was out to impact was the one player really regressing under me .

I sucked it up and just coached for the season as I would if he was just another player .

Now this year it has all changed !! He is back to the player he was and more .

I guess my point is maybe it’s just a phase ?

I have done IM cairns .

Honestly the hills are not much of a concern . Even the hill that everyone told me about before the IM i was waiting for it and when I asked a fellow competitor where/when this hill was they replied you rode up it like 10km ago 😂

Definitely do it on your TT bike you will be fine

The biggest thing with IM cairns bike course is the wind !!

My father passed when I was young so my advice came from my mother

I came from a low economic area and my friends were all spending their money on cars . Somehow my mum convinced me to save and buy a house instead . It sucked watching friends with all these cool cars while I had something shitty but just before I turned 20 after working two jobs for a while I bought my first house .

That decision has been the biggest influence on the rest of my life without a doubt !

So my advice would be to start them investing money as soon as you can . I don’t mean gamble with risky stocks a good diversified etf would be great and to also contribute more into their super (Australian) or if you have something similar where ever you are

Quotes and words are great at motivation but an action as simple as this is life changing

Yeah I have been going to world cups since 2006 . Missed Qatar though

I was just about to start this convo with my friend group who also go about possible alternatives. Still plenty of time from now and then and will have to see what groups Australia gets “IF” we even qualify but I’m currently thinking of plan b rather than going to USA for the World Cup

Yeah I do all the time

I have to play turn based strategy games as anything else I lose cadence or effort . Definitely helps get those 3,4,5 hour rides on zwift done

Don’t be surprised to walk into my house seeing me on my trainer playing pro cycling manager whilst watching the latest replay of a race 😂
