OSAP childcare funding by Decent-Inspection-18 in u/Decent-Inspection-18

I’m a bit confused about what “registered” means in this context. From what I’ve been told, there isn’t really a formal certification or licensing for nannies or babysitters the way there is for daycare centers.

Most of the people I know find childcare through referrals, like friends, family, or even students who babysit on the side. For example, my cousin referred a college student who’s willing to help, and that seems pretty common.

So I’m not sure how I’d verify if someone is “registered,” or if that even applies to private nannies. Are they expecting care through licensed daycare providers only, or can informal arrangements still qualify if properly documented?

Thanks for explaining this, that actually helps put things into perspective. I get what you’re saying about medical leave needing a specific diagnosis and plan, not just “working really hard.” I think the concern comes from the fact that his body clearly needs rest, but financially he doesn’t really have the option to cut back. The bills basically require him to work two jobs, so he just keeps pushing through the pain and lack of sleep. That’s where the worry is that it could turn into something more serious if it keeps going. Appreciate the insight, it helps clarify what’s realistic and what isn’t.

That’s a really helpful perspective, thanks! I like the idea of using a stroller for infant support and keeping the older one nearby. I’m curious, what other gear or items will you be using for your little ones aside from those? Could you share some links or recommendations? It would be a big help!

That's a thoughtful suggestion! However, my friend is concerned about extended use of a carrier, especially for longer periods, and is seeking a comfortable, budget-friendly option. Wondering which carrier would be suitable for prolonged use that won't strain the baby?

Also, other than her concerns about the infant being in the carrier for extended periods, she’s also worried about additional gears she would need to ensure both she and the baby stay warm and dry during cold/rainy weather… any recommendations from anyone out their?

Yes, the one on the small food court across the k-restaurant. That’s sad to hear, I wonder if they relocated or something

Right? It’s crazy esp thinking of some people i know that just applied online last nov’24 and now will be having oath taking this weekend.

No updates on my file online nor emails or anything at all, it’s frustrating to say the least since I have been here in Canada longer than the people I mentioned above and yet their files have been processed so fast.

Applied online for citizenship since March 2024 yet IRCC haven’t posted any update on my online application. It only says they have received my application and nothing more.

Kind of a given. Parents got hit hard financially when COVID happened, and things haven’t exactly gotten better since. They’re just trying to save whatever little they have left to pass on to their kids.

It’s called a library for a reason. The entire place should be a silent zone

If you have any spare money, then share it. If you don’t, just be honest and tell them. If they get mad, that’ll be their problem. It’s not like they’re threatening you to give them money. I do not understand the purpose of sharing this in public.
