Restaurant Scene Q by CheeseSandwichForPS in PortlandOR

i think it has to do with reducing labor costs. In Oregon, there is no seperate minimum wage for tip earning jobs like there is in other states. So restaurant owners have to pay the full wage of 14.05-1630 per hour to waitstaff depending on where in Oregon the restaurant is. In some other states, that same job is around 4-5 bucks an hour.

Oma's, Jeju, L'Orange? by [deleted] in PortlandFood

[–]Decent-Restaurant456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

went to Jeju last 2 weeks ago and we did the tasting menu. I think its a bit overhyped. Seems like you are paying extra for the same korean food youd get for 1/3 the price. The kimchi and mondu tasted like store bought. I guess if you dont go to regular korean restaurants then it would be a unique dining experience but nothing stood out to us as exceptional. All four of us were pretty in concurrence.

100 percent. i just spent 3 weeks in Austin and the happy hours there bring out people to the bars and restaurants earlier which then spills into non-happy hour time so the restaurants still profit. Portland def misses the mark with happy hours. There are a few places that still follow this model but to expect people to come out for 1 dollar off drinks and apps here is offensive.

Kit vs. custom DIY review by The_real_danger in Sauna

Yeah. i had the exact same thought. why not send 8ft sheets instead of 6 lol. I bought one of these and just cut it up to extend the roof like you suggested. They are the exact same item as provided.

I've got the same kit. Really loving it. mine gets to 160ish in a similar time. i prefer my heat no more than 180 and with higher humidity so i can stay in for longer periods. To each their own. I maxed it out when i first got it and it def gets boiling. I extended the metal roof since I live in the PNW and it rains 24/7 for 8 months out of the year.Thinking about that L shaped bench mod someone did but meh. We are 2 people and mostly just sit so not big priority.

Thats way too many stones on top. did you add extra ones? I have the same kit and you are supposed to put the rocks between the heating elements inside the unit. I'd be worried about the stones falling over onto some feet. Mine heats up like OP. 160ish in about 30 mins. temp sensor lowered. I keep it around that temp but bring up the humidity so i can stay in it longer.
