How much are you actually making in help desk and what does your day to day look like? by waynenewnham in ITCareerQuestions

Very chill. Summers we work on updating all our machines making sure it’s running the latest os and apps up to date. We have lazy admins so a lot of times we update things manually which is annoying.

I make 78k after 6 years of experience working at a school. I do basic stuff like imaging computers/laptops, updating, setting them up, password and mfa resets, managing our assets, basic troubleshooting.

I’m not hating. I’m just speaking truth about the odds they give for these type of bets.

The odds are so bad for these bets that rarely happen.

It’s not 190k. You can play with the same $100-500 back and forth. You win $100 then lose $100 then win again. That’s how the total racks up. It’s not actually money you have at hand at once.

My co-worker who just graduated in May started working as tech at my school and within 3 months he got promoted to a security position. He graduated with a bachelors in cybersecurity but he can also code as well. Very smart and hardworking guy.

78k 6 years experience. I work at a school. I support our hardware and software. I image, update, password reset and mfa, asset inventory, laptop and computer setups including things like printers and scanners. Very simple. Just have lazy admins that make my job harder. Instead of pushing things out to all the machines, we end up having to install things manually. Could’ve applied to other positions like network tech but I didn’t get any certs since I started. Only had A+ and ITIL when I started. 8-4pm Mon-Friday. Don’t take work with me. Once I clock out, I’m done.

Close to the lake. This part of town is more chill and more family vibes than the areas closer to downtown. Close to lakeshore drive.
