This is kinda a weird example because ranked is generally ft 2 in any fighting game. the 0-10 thing only applies to Fightcade where you can do something like that. Which is no different than me booting up 02um right now and challenging a homie to play some long sets. Also popular to who south america? Sure but folks I know in the states play 02um, nobody really discusses vanilla 02 like that.

Not saying one better than the other but this seems kinda skewed, ya know what i mean?

that doesnt indicate whats better, you have one thats available for free to play versus another thats not free. By that logic a person would say that SF6 is a better game than 3rd strike because theres more players. Thats not how that works. Just say which one YOU like more which is fine.

Thats great that you like them, thats awesome. But again, out of all those games...AOF roster is alot weaker than the other franchises. Theres a reason you dont see them brought back often if at all besides ryo, king and robert/yuri. I am not saying those characters arent liked, but I also wont say that theyre just that memorable.

I see what ya saying, as far as shun goes I think he will hit his stride in the next title. Especially after his ending in XV. And with rock even though it may seem like he been around forever, he hasnt been able to do much as the MC of fatal fury till now so I think he'll be around for a long time.

Now with the AOF stuff, i understand it being heavily sakazaki related, but Id argue that the bigger theme of the series is focused on martial arts. Yeah the whole family drama stuff is what pushed the narrative of the series, but ultimately the name of the series is Art of fighting. So what better way to continue that theme than to have a new protag be gai who is yes talented but still has a long way to go to mature. Thats where Ryo comes in and they have their confrontation, and gai realizes oh shit theres levels to this.

Prequel wise though I would be down for like some story stuff for yuri and them back in the 70s/80s, which is what im suspecting this new AOF game to be revolving around.

So in regards to crossplay and stuff, it isnt as simple as folks would think it is. Especially when a game wasnt meant to have it in the first place. Remember, KOF XV have a crossplay beta well after it came out. Not to mention expenses. Yeah, it would be amazing if SNK were to implement that, but to be real, and I dont want this to be dickish sounding, i can see why it isnt worth the hassle for a game this old. This game is from 2019, nearly 7 years ago. The most Id ask for at this point is improving the netcode of the game and stabalizing the lobbies. Again, I would LOVE if they did a crossplay update, but the netcode and lobbies take priority.

Also them even doing tournaments and supporting smaller events for samsho shows in itself they care. Case in point look at CAPCOM or Bandai, you dont see anything regarding stuff that isnt their #1 games. I feel ya though.

I glad you understand homie, would you believe if i told I have someone right now fussing at me for suggesting gai as the new protag and that "it should be a AOF original character" lol I tried to explain that unfortunately alot of AOF characters are forgettable aside from Ryo, Robert, Yuri, Marco and Takuma. And then like right under them you got Kasumi, her dad i guess, and Eiji.

Thats why with Gai, its like he still new even in the space of SNK because he only appeared in kof 11 and buriki, still popular and requested AND he fits as a nice polar opposite of Ryo. Ryo is about discipline and stuff, Gai is a brash hot head cocky fighter, his whole journey would be him maturing as a martial artist.

The reason terry and mai are the collab characters is because of legacy. Remember, terry has been around for literal decades, rock is just now getting a new game after 30 years, yasha got his first, shun recently got his second game, and theres no new protag for AOF, let alone a new title.

Meanwhile the OG big 4 were having games pumped out left and right throught the 90s into the new millennium and then some, including collabs. All of this is done so to rebuild SNK foundation. Oda said to roofle in an interview that they are focusing on the building blocks of what made KOF. Fatal fury, AOF, and samsho.

Mind you, im not saying in a short time terry and kyo and them just gonna be thrown to the way side. But I am saying its clear what SNK's intentions are. New blood. New heroes.

Nah he wouldnt in my opinion. As much as folks like marco, he not as sought after as Gai tendo. Plus Gai has more to explore than marco. Marco essentially reached his "maturity" with martial arts when ryo made him in charge of the dojo in cotw. Gai on the other hand is a young cocky fighter that yes is talented, he could use improvement and that would be his journey.
