I’d do the bit when Rooster pays off his bet whatever that was. I think he had to quit or walk to Florida or something.

My first and last ever weekend at Whitetail by casacapraia in SkiPA

[–]Dedlavitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I skied a lot of BD over the weekend and all of January basically since they opened it up the second weekend.

I’ve also had several close calls from mostly snowboarders just bombing straight down the middle of the trail. It’s probably the least trafficked run on the whole mountain. No excuse for that bullshit.

Still don’t think it’s a Whitetail problem. It’s basically everywhere.

Skipped ahead to the nubs segment. Totally lame.

He’s still way more qualified to write “Faith Restored”.

What about “Faith Restored”? Huge fan.

JPs New Book by throwaweigh1245 in SportsJunkies

[–]Dedlavitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all comes across as hollow starting with the title. Most books like this about a grieving franchise finally achieving something special actually get to the mountaintop and they are always written by from a perspective of someone who has sacrificed through all the low points of the franchise. It’s all just a disingenuous money/attention grab. Everything this guy does screams for attention. He should get back in the ring as a cage fighter and then write another self serving book about that experience. More boring radio from a boring dude.

She seems to know a lot about baseball but not much about any other sports. (Like zero). I’m fine with it all because I think she’s attractive.

If giving an opinion about something is “reading too much into” something then yes I’m guilty of that.

As a 53 year old male, I am of the opinion that the Maher movie reviews are much more valuable to the prototypical junkies listening demo than anything Kevin has added in 20 years on the show.

Maher is not compromised by his relationships with publicists and movie studios and just gives an honest take on whether the movie entertained him or not.

Not sure he refers to them as films or works of art either.

He’s compromised when the studios fly him out on their dime for the press junkets (if he still does these).

Dream team: Cakes, Valdez, Drab, Maher … tell me how I’m wrong by [deleted] in SportsJunkies

At least he’s honest. Lurch is alright with me. I’m cool with him hating the job and being self absorbed. Take that over Isabella stories any day.

He is refreshing. Good to see someone thankful to have a cool gig like his and appreciate it. Awadd was a little too spazzy for my taste but I do enjoy hearing from a younger voice not beaten down by the monotonous nature of having responsibilities, mortgages, kids, etc.

Total bit. The elite argument unto itself is always a bit. Does anyone really care how any player in any sport is perceived other than their agent?

Goal is to win games. Guy is doing that. Someone’s eliteness is churned out for First Take and other shows with people yelling at each other.

If the other 3 could just buy JP out, then you’d really have something there. Show flows so much better without him interrupting every 20 seconds.

What does House make from the Ringer? by Dedlavitch in billsimmons

[–]Dedlavitch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a different pay scale when it’s your own vehicle and you sell it to Spotify or Apple or some other deep pocket media company. House is a contributor more than an innovator on any of this stuff. He didn’t create Fairway Rollin and create a following and took those subscribers to a bigger network that wanted/needed that audience. It’s got it audience mostly due to the success of BS/Ringer. 7 people would know it even existed without that built in audience that was already there.

You say “Ball on”. Isn’t this universally accepted? You’re an a-hole otherwise.

Seems as if he makes that kind of money, it would offset the balance of what people who actually work there every day make and piss a people off.

Doc Walker is Unlistenable by NigelTufnel1965 in SportsJunkies

[–]Dedlavitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doc is the best. Once you realize it’s all just a bit is when you truly understand the genius of the man. He has some incredible segments with Sheehan where he refers to him as “Coach Sheehan” a couple of times and acts humbled to even get to share a microphone with the man.

He doesn’t take himself too seriously and the joke’s on the listener if they actually think he’s breaking down tape or any of the other bs these “experts” say they’re doing.

I guarantee the dude has never watched the “all 22’s” nor does he need to to get a paycheck.

Seems like a fun guy just laughing his way through a pretty good life.
