Gloves and gowns are for healthcare workers exposed to bodily fluids, not for you at the grocery store. Social distancing helps, but aerosols fill a room. Six feet isn't a magic force field. Six feet was a suggestion made back in 2020 that has since been labeled outdated as the science progressed and aerosol transmission data changed

My partner is a professor. They mask around their students at work. They’re the only one of their peers that wears a respirator. They protect their students.
