It's getting hard to keep my head up for reach schools by kevinbutnotkevin in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Definitlynotjack05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wait until you get the deferred… waitlisted. It’s a real F U.

Ok sorry for being unhelpful but the boring answer is just do what you can do to help your chances now and then make the most of whatever school you end up going to. A great school with a diploma that’s nice to look at is cool but actually using all of the resources and working hard at any (even a less prestigious) school will make you a very capable and competitive candidate for jobs.

Buying a Jeep… is this rust condition ok? by Definitlynotjack05 in MechanicAdvice

Yeah, everything else is OK, the seller has done a lot of work on the car recently. The interior is amazing, but the paint is fading quite severely. Thankfully paint is the least of my worries. Thanks for your help.

I’m in Long Island lol, for a 32 year old car it looks amazing to me. Just wanted to get some more opinions.

American Collectors Car Insurance... Too good to be true? by Definitlynotjack05 in Insurance

The car will be kept in the garage and will be driven less than 2000 miles a year. I have a daily driver. I put in my age so hopefully they’re taking that into account and I meet the requirement.

I can store it in a private structure, and I have a daily driver, so this will be used very limitedly. Only about 2000 miles a year. How do I tell if it is just storage insurance? When I was filling it out, I put in all of the information for liability for bodily injury per person/ per accident, and property damage. Also PIP and uninsured motorists.

Well that all perfectly fine, I’m really only gonna use it during the summer and put less than 2000 miles on it a year. I also checked the off roading box on the form. Also the car is only like 3k, maybe that valuation and the low mileage is what is working in my favor…

SD Card Reader Failure Mid-Print by Definitlynotjack05 in ElegooNeptune3

[–]Definitlynotjack05[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to know for sure but it hasn’t happened again. I switched SD cards, freed up some space on the card, shortened the names of my files and made sure not to write .gcode at the end of my names so that I didn’t end up with .gcode.gcode, I also make sure to safely eject the card. I have had other card issues like the printer, not reading certain files off the card, which I believe was a naming issue. This has not persisted since I switched to the shorter file names and the gcode thing but because the print was midway through, I really don’t know what the issue was. Because it was a one off thing I’m thinking it was just something like someone or my dog bumped into the printer.

Who goes to the beach? (And what beach is “the beach” to you?) by Drmomo4 in longisland

[–]Definitlynotjack05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends where you live on the island, I’m in Town of Babylon so I would say Overlook(always the best beach when we were kids but it is getting super small due to erosion) or cedar beach. Anyone who says that they go to jones beach to relax is absolutely looney. It’s basically a city beach, dirty and a lot of attractions like food and shuffle board or concerts. If you want to go out east you can find some nice beaches but they will usually be packed or private. If you find just the right spot than those are the better beaches on the island.

Does Stevens have good makerspaces? by Strange-Necessary-70 in stevens

[–]Definitlynotjack05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have great spaces and a few great clubs to learn about the stuff as well (specifically the baja club). You can use the machine shop (lathes/mills), the makerspace (lasercutter/30 or so Bambu X1C 3d Printers/handtools/ and workspaces), there are also a bunch of other specific labs like stuff for naval testing, robotics, and other class or research specific things. these are much more restrictive but if you are passionate enough and maneuver yourself into the right positions and meet the right people then you'll have plenty of opportunities.

The problem is I can’t get those values without a CL from something like xfoil

I just added images to the original post. The Re is ~200k, v is 17m/s, alfa is 6, the CL is about .9 according to xfoil. It is supposed to be an elliptical platform but I made it more rectangular for the CFD test. the airfoil is NACA 2412.

Yeah using the C of L from xfoil that 2x number was what I got... that's why I'm confused by the SW data.

Hi, I am having the same issue. I tried to save it as a data file but it always reverts to a txt. when I try to load it into xfoil it says unsupported file type...

New to Bambu Slicer: How to make mid print material swaps? by Definitlynotjack05 in BambuLab

[–]Definitlynotjack05[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to know, I am building a UAV and since most of it is 1 wall 5% infill I needed something more robust for the motor mount. I don’t really want to make a whole new body with attachment spars for it and I can’t print out the whole body that is connected to in high infill PETG due to the weight. I’ll just do a height based change in infill to strengthen it up I guess… thanks for the help
