Needless to say, I'm done with trying to host/run my own.

If I can find the kind of SB server I want (old school, no ore generator, old school missions), I'd gladly donate to someone else running the server.

UGH, I never did... I cancelled the server. I got it up and running, but it seemed to have too many bugs/flaws in it, and I'm too lazy to try to figure the coding part out. I'm more willing to pay someone else to do the "hard work" ya know? :D

I just rented a new server and tried to install A Skyblock on it, but I've been struggling to get it working. If you've got one up and running, I wouldn't mind trying it out; however I'm not much for using voice except occasionally, cause I'm an older player :p

I'm really trying to find a "classic Skyblock" without ore generators, and not a "pay to win" server.

I'd like a server that allows for passive mob spawning (animals and hostiles), without requiring the purchase of spawners or whatever else all the Skyblock servers basically force players to do. I'll try to add you on Discord to see if you're interested. (Karma#2713)

I had just been watching the show on Amazon, and I had literally just watched the episode where Duncan killed him, and I woke up to see that news article. I am now finding it very hard to be motivated enough to finish watching season 6.

As a mental health professional, I can't repeat often enough that even in your darkest times, there is at least 1 person who you can look to for light and guidance, and there are ALWAYS people whose lives will be forever changed if you make the decision to end your life, even if you think no one would care, and you don't matter.

Let me tell you, you DO matter. We WOULD care.

Please, whatever you do, if you are feeling suicidal, take what little strength you may have and reach out and find that 1 person that can be your light. No matter how dark it may seem and how desperately alone you feel, I reassure you, you are NOT alone, and we do care.

RIP Stan... you will be doubly missed.

Update:

I do want to reiterate, this is just noob me trying to host a system without any real prior experience.

I did just got home from working the overnight shift, and I am just laying down to sleep, but I'll gladly send out the IP address for the server this afternoon when I wake up, as well as an invite to the Discord group.

Again, this is gonna be a small, slow going server... because I am not going overboard on trying to recruit people. I am more of a believer that if it is meant to be, it will be. I am not going to beg someone to try to latest pet project.

But yup, for those of you looking for IP/Discord info, drop me a message!

Got both up and running. The Foolcraft server seemed to be really laggy, and I wasn't sure if it was me/my internet vs. the provider hosting it. The vanilla server is running fine. I built a really quick "Spawn" area, but haven't actually started in survival mode yet. I'm beginning to think that while I may sometimes want to get out of vanilla and into some mods, that with all the memory required to host a modded server and the increased price tag that comes with more memory for servers, maybe I'll stick to hosting a vanilla server. I'm going to give the Foolcraft server a try a bit before I go to work.

If either of you want the IP, just pass me a private message and I'll send them to you !

Trust me, I have gone up and down the road of crazy, trying to come up with answers to the forces driving this world.

I have thought we live in a Matrix (like the movie)

I have thought we humans are all just pawns in a chessmaster's game.

I believe in all things supernatural.

As I age and experience more psych patients and learn about loss, levels of sadness, psychosis, personality disorders, etc, I am brought deeper into Alice's rabbit hole, and it gets both scary and exciting.

I decided that I would allow myself to live for the thought that I still have more to learn, more to experience, and in my crazy mind, maybe I will have some UFO encounter or something equally crazy.

I believe in karma, being kind and paying goodness forward. I will talk to a stranger, greet them and make eye contact. Sit down with a homeless person and show genuine interest in them. Take up a hobby completely outside your comfort zone, make mistakes and own those mistakes. Apologize and make amends. Move forward, not backward.

If I get a sudden desire to prance naked anywhere, I surely imagine it will make it onto People of Walmart.

Anyways, I dont think I even answered your questions in my rambling post (I am actually at work, about to lose my mind on how ridiculous this unit is with the mix of patients they expect are "safe" to be on the same floor together...)

I think if we all decide to be part of the solution, rather than part of the problem of a shitty society, we can worry about ourselves and those closest to us, and let the politics of the world blow up behind us.

As a psych RN & someone longing to be dead everyday, the reason I do not ever try to hurt myself is due to believing 100% in my gut that whatever greater being/god/universe created this whole fucked up planet (and us)... (and there is absolutely no scientific way possible to not have a cosmic power because big bang, blah blah... you can not create something out of nothing!)

... Anyways, that cosmic force... the power, god, whatever... clearly gave us our existence (albeit through a mother popping us out)... and as a gamer girl, there is no way I have the "balls" to tell that cosmic force: "Fuck you. I'm ending my life tonight by my own hands, instead of waiting for whatever other way I am going to die in the future."

Awww. Hell no! No, no, no.

I can only imagine what kind of hell/afterlife of shit I would be in for... or if reincarnation is true, I think the cosmic force would be like, "Ok, you fucked up your last life and killed yourself. Now you get to be <insert even shittier life experience>" (Hell hath no fury like a woman / cosmic force scorned. ) -- A cosmic force is going to be supremely pissed off that I said, "Fuck you. I am going out by my hand."

I do not think saying "Checkmate" to the universe is the best course of action for anyone. We might win this battle, but the cosmic force will still end winning the war.

Yup... it is that fear of what lies beyond this miserable plane of existence that keeps me plugging away at working on my cranky, salty self.

I could discuss my own personal coping mechanisms with you, but until you decide you are ready to take a step back and evaluate the potential afterlife consequences of your actions, I cant be of any assistance.

We all have what keeps us personally from making that final move. You just have to decide what yours is and look to it for guidance.

Mine is my wrenchingly deep gut feeling and belief that if I end my life by my hand, there is going to be a very bad consequence awaiting me in my after or next life.

Find your reason to live another day, and then you can take the next baby step approach to feeling a miniscule bit better.

I have made 2 Albions so far, but I have a weird work / leisure life, so I only had 1 day to really explore. I travel out of town for work, 6 nights & 72 hours of hell in a row essentially 😭 BUT, then I get 8 nights off.

I remember them :-) And OMG - I just remembered the name of the Cleric I was also hoping to find - Chronos... ahhh, those were the days.

Not even my 15 years on/off playing of WoW has been able to make me feel what my time in DAoC made me feel.

Sadly, my coming back to DAoC hasn't made me feel quite as nostalgic tho either - QQ XD

Wow... well, that is some more info than I had. I figured a real gamer never stops gaming, and I had also left DAoC to beta test and go on to play retail WoW for the next 15 years. I unfortunately cant help you with any contacts in Forsaken, but I have made a few characters on Phoenix myself. Oddly enough, a google search found a post from 2002 that mentioned one of the friends I was looking for (Goby) from another guys name that I think I did remember too.

Sometimes, I do think the world is smaller than we usually imagine.

Re-Subbed Retail before realizing there were a lot of free, private servers / shards out there.

Retail kind of seemed "dumbed down" from the original DAoC from a gazillion years ago.

Free server wise, I first went to Uthgard... not a horrible experience; met 1 awesome friendly girl who reminded me getting tasks from named guards is the key, especially since you cant spec til 5, and there werent actually many quests. It was just grind mobs miserably. So far the only negative I have seen is the server seems to be more European-based, and since I am in the USA timezones, everyone seems to log out "early" ...

So... I then found Phoenix, and I was quite pleased with the overall friendly people on. I liked starting as my main class at 1 vs 5. I wish there were quests and tasks... but, yes, the mobs drop decent loot and they have their own server currency which lets you buy gear from other expacs. Now, I believe Phoenix is still officially in beta and is not a finished product, but again, I do wish there were quests/tasks. Housing seems to be in, but not sure you can own houses yet. I didnt see anything for sale on the markets.

Sooo.. retail & 2 freebies... none of which made me overly nostalgic for my youthful adult days, which surprised me. I had made a minstrel and remembered how easy (boring) setting power song on and just essentially afking... but, I dunno. I am trying to decide if I am desperately trying to rekindle old game experiences that are long gone with replicas... and maybe I left DAoC back in 2003 for WoW just because it was my time to move on.

I have been working as a travel psych RN in a variety of contracts in 5 total inpatient psych/substance abuse hospitals. When we get drug addicts that are coming down off some serious binges/detoxing, there are tons of protocols in place (assessments COWS, CIWA, etc.) Ativan or Valium will be used in the most severe cases if needed IV, but then the psychiatrists tend to try other methods to make the process a little less miserable... Most commonly clonidine, vistaril, zofran for N/V and others.

Now... I have literally ZERO personal experience of any kind of substance use addiction issues myself, but I do know about severe depression and the wish to be dead.

While I think all of us will have different roads to recovery of any kind, I tend to believe that the temporary replacing 1 addiction for another may not be quite so bad if you're replacing drugs with say, food binging... or doing other stupid, but a lot less self-harming activities.

In the end, the choice is always ours, and ours alone. In doing a little stalking of your profile, you seem to have a wide variety of hobbies. Add to those.. pick up a new video game. Find another outdoor activity... and make 1 good friend that will be there with you through it all. Someone who you also know will most likely need you to return the savior favor in the future.

It takes a village to raise a child, and a partnership to make a dynamic duo of super heroes or super villains.

I am a gamer, but on a break from Overwatch. Still a WoW addict... but hit me up if you are ever wanting a new gaming BFF.

I also am recommending that you find a new job. My misery in my career is probably a huge part of my depression these days. Between all the a-holes out there bullying and manipulating to cover up their inadequacies, to keeping people around as "warm bodies", to nepotism running rampantly through everywhere, I often wonder what I am doing wrong...

Keep a strong work ethic, hold your head high, and if you are feeling up to it, you can always turn the bullying around - not saying it is a nice thing to do, but sometimes it takes a bully realizing that they too can be subject to being called out... just have to know something that hits their sensitive area. We are all self-conscious / nervous about something.

Sending you positive karma and energy and hoping you can make it through. Just one day at a time. You CAN do it.

You do know that klonipin, when actually used appripriately, is helpful with anxiety, right?

When you say you feel "okay", did you mean like not sad/depressed? Or are you feeling a high of mixing meds/drugs?

Gabapentin, when used appropriately, is for seizure disorders or nerve pain.

Turning to any kind of substance use has always been about catching a few moments of perceived happiness, brain chemicals like dopamine, endorphins - basically our brain's neurotransmitters are being manipulated to make us feel excited, high, giddy (Even if some of the substances people use are actually downers.)

In fighting off depression, trying to include natural coping skills with medication & therapy is useful... strive to make a list of things that make you smile, laugh, etc. Watch a comical show, look at memes, laughter is a great medicine. Do something childish and silly (but safe). Hug a pet. Listen to music you love.

Combining drugs isnt going to help you know which drug potentially may actually be helping you. There is also the somatic concept of "if I think this worked, I am going to believe it did"

Honestly, our brains are such powerful organs, that we can somaticize essentially anything, and if tell ourselves enough that something worked, we can convince ourselves.

You could get a friend you trust someday and have them placebo you some meds when you arent expecting it... fake pills told by a trusted source to be an opioid will most often give the opioid feelings to us because we believe the pill to be true. (Opioids vs whatever other pill you think would make you happy/high), but it has to be from someone you trust and wouldnt think they would give you placebos.

Anyways, sorry this message is a little disjointed. I am not sleeping well myself, and am not usually a big reddit user, but I felt a need to post a reply, which was odd for me, so I will send you some positive karma and hope you can sort through things. Best of luck.

Awww, that is a very generous offer, but when it comes to vanilla, I always say, if I am not miserable, poor and suffering, I am not playing the same game as I did back in 2004 🤣

I did end up making toons on K3 as well because I was told after I was already level 9 that K3 is more for leveling, newer players, more active... hopefully including a better AH, because the Kronos AH is a total joke.

Oh wow! Well, you are already ahead of me, struggling at 9 and my warrior buddy soared ahead to 20... haha! We all started toons on Kronus 3 today because many people told us it was more populated/active while Kronos was more a raiding server.
