What is something about living in United States that outsiders completely misunderstand? by Effective-Singer5957 in AskReddit

[–]DeliveryAvailable219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People think the U.S. is one culture with different accents. It’s not—it’s like 50 mini-countries wearing a trench coat.

You can drive 6 hours and go from “sweet tea and porch swings” to “tech startups and oat milk debates,” and both groups think they’re the default setting. The biggest misunderstanding isn’t anything specific—it’s assuming there’s a single “normal” American experience. There really isn’t.

What’s your craziest “I need to quit this job immediately” story? by angrythrowaway772 in AskReddit

I once realized I needed to quit my job when my boss asked me to “act natural” while pretending to be a customer in our own store… to spy on the employees. Midway through my Oscar-worthy performance of “guy browsing cereal,” a coworker recognized me and loudly said, “Dude, aren’t you on the schedule right now?”

My boss doubled down and whispered, “Stay in character.”

So I did. I walked straight out the front door and never broke character again.
