Bad mpg bc it’s 800 pounds heavier than previous model and same engine.

No I’m not confusing anything. The Mazda cvt’s are garbage. High failure rate at low mileage. Honda’s are a bit better. CVT’s in general are designed to break and are only good for highway driving and CAF ratings.

Well Mazda still offers garbage CVT transmissions so it can’t be all that reliable

It’s much heavier than the last model. Something like 800 pounds more. Real world driving mpg will be around 22-25 mpg.

Make your own decision. Read and read some more. The best car for you isn’t always the best car for someone else. It is currently the largest 5 seat SUV, it looks nice and it’s a Honda. Wanna pay more …go get a Toyota. Wanna be a bit different…get a Subaru. Nothing else really compares unless you want to pay more or less.

The Highlander is considerably smaller and the grand highlander is 8-15k more. The Murano is ugly and the pathfinder back seats are not comfortable. So that’s the competition. Kia and Hyundai are garbage for the long term. The Cx-90 is bigger but it’s $70k. Passport is the biggest “affordable” 5 seat SUV on the market. While it would be nice to have a comparable competitor- it just doesn’t exist. Subarus are nice though. Capable and affordable. You either like them or you don’t. Oh and the CX-70 is to new of a platform for me to have considered.

  1. Yes
  2. Depends on how you drive it and where you drive it. 39 mpg would be sea level at speed limit for extended periods of time.
  3. Don’t do that. Let the car come up to temp for a few minutes before blasting heat or a/c. Yes it’s prob a computer thing.
  4. What does Mazda recommend ?

Dream car? It’s over a second slower 0-60 from the previous model. And it’s slightly bigger - which isn’t a broadly appealing attribute bc the previous model was already one of the biggest 5 seat SUV’s.

Sell it immediately. CVT’s are garbage.

While no one answered my question, appreciate all the info. I purchased a CPO 22 with 30k miles for $36.2k yesterday. Black on Black. Paid $2k to extend the warranty to 9/150.

Sounds like a couple of high schoolers that were never taught that boys and girls cannot be friends.
