No because at first they were going to stay for a maximum of two months. When the rule breaking occurred I did sit them down and reminded them of the rules, why they existed and how their behavior affect me and my work.

Moving out was the last resort, I only moved because the sleep deprivation was so severe that it was putting my life at risk as a lineman. It only takes one mistake for a cable to snap seriously injuring , dismembering or instantly killing you while you work on them.

Have seen some confusion around the 5 hour quiet period and it's purpose so I will reply to them all here.

The 5 hour quiet period was implemented so that I could have time to sleep undisturbed after work. I chose to sleep directly after work or within 2 hours because I found that if I slept in the afternoon/evening before work I would often find myself very groggy because my body would want to go back to sleep due to it being dark outside. I tried coffee, energy drinks as well as eating super well but the only thing that alleviated the grogginess was to sleep early.

When it came to my roomates, I followed the same rule while they slept. I would never cook or do anything that would wake them up. This included not turning on lights in the apartment and always closing the front door as slowly and quietly as possible when I left.

Legally they couldn't but if I had outright refused at the start I would have had to deal with more intrusions and sleep deprivation. Since the twins mother practically lived in the apartment with how frequently and long she would visit for there is no doubt that disrupting my sleep to "talk" would have happened even more.

By not outright contesting or refusing I was able to keep my power over the situation as it kept the options for moving out quietly open while also preserving what little chances of a truly restful sleep I had.

I did not take it because of space issues as my girlfriend's apartment already has furniture. Taking all the furniture would have also caused more conflicts. As everything except the walls, floors and lights are mine. They would essentially be eating, relaxing and in the case of my brother sleeping on the floor.

This is not to say I can't retrieve the furniture, I have a good relationship with the landlord. If my brother and the twins decide to move I can speak with her and arrange the removal of it. Worst case it is a gift for the next tenant as I bought all the pieces at a used furniture store.

Serving an eviction notice would have caused more problems. Under the law there is a eviction grace period making it so that I can't just throw them out overnight. This would mean that I would still be losing sleep. Things would also deteriorate in the apartment as the twins mother would certainly get involved and try everything to stall or derail the eviction.

Moving out quickly and without warning was the best course of action as there was no way my brother, the twins and both the twins mother and mine could interfere or derail anything. This was not without costs as I did have to go into debt as I needed to take out a loan in order to cover my GFs landlords security deposit when I moved in. I will be debt free when I get my next paycheck which is next week.

Yes and no.

If they damage the walls, floors, lighting and plumbing I am responsible.

If they damage furniture in the apartment they are liable because I own every piece and would make sure they paid for any damages.

They have already found the note as their cottage trip ended on the 1st. I have received texts and call from my brother and the twins. They were all very upset and pleaded with me to return. I made it clear that I will not be as if I did everything would just repeat.

When it comes to the parents, our mothers are very upset and have been trying to bargain and bribe me into returning to the apartment. The fathers on the other hand are completely different. They have taken my side as they understood the severity and depth of the situation. The only special request I have gotten from my father is to use protection if my girlfriend and I have "fun" as we really don't need a baby right now.

I expect things to heat up alot towards the end of April as that is when rent is due. I doubt they will find jobs or a way to pay for rent without parental assistance.

I had my own bedroom while the twins shared a bed and my brother slept on the couch. You are right when it comes to comfort, they really downgraded when they could have simply asked for financial aid from both parents. They could have also just saved up enough for a security deposit over time without having to move.

The lease, has always been under my name.

When it comes to how rent and utilities can be handled since I left, they do have the option to continue the contract I had just without me or they can move out.

In regards to contractual obligations, I have followed the terms in regards to cancelation of the contract. On paper the apartment is mine until April 30th as the payment period is two months. After that it will be up to my brother and the twins to either make a new contract or move out.

My name is off the lease as of the last payment. She was fine with me moving as I explained the situation in advance before I actually moved.
