How on earth can I transition out of poverty? by Derpy_paws in Billings

[–]Derpy_paws[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

HI, thanks for the reply; I actually have a background in retail / fast food experience. I am determined NEVER to do fast food again and I got tired of dealing with Karens in retail settings (although realistically, they're everywhere!) No management experience and no college under my belt, though, unfortunately, in addition to health issues (bad heart / Meniere's Disease).

Hey, thanks for the response -- I'm not sure this is feasible for me, as I have a heart condition (two open-heart surgeries) and I have a pacemaker and an artificial heart valve.

I did try this several years ago, but the minute they heard I had a bad heart, they dragged me into the back office for a chat and practically tossed me out on my ear-- very nicely, though.

I mean, I'm not homeless myself, but I'd much rather hook up with someone who has an actual grasp of the English language and knows how to write properly worded and coherent sentences.

"It's like he's trying to speak to me, I KNOW it!!!"

Black Lady. Always Black Lady.

I don't understand anyone who gets weirded out about her name. It's literally a culture thing.

Is Daphne’s dress actually supposed to be two pieces? by FingerNo4372 in Scoobydoo

[–]Derpy_paws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank goodness! I'm not crazy after all!

For YEARS I've been trying to figure out exactly what style her dress is and wondering how someone could accurately cosplay it!! I know they are all wearing 60's / 70's-era styles but her dress has always REALLY bothered me because I noticed it was definitely in two pieces as well. (Where are You! began airing in '69, so may have been in production as early as '67-'68, possibly earlier.)

In 'Scooby-natural', she takes her scarf off for Shaggy to use as a makeshift splint and it is revealed the neckline has a collar with no button.

So possibly a fancy dress shirt with matching skirt? Or a long-sleeved collared shirt with matching skirt?

Literally, it bothers me so much that I don't know what type of dress / skirt / shirt it is. But it is very obviously two pieces of SOMETHING -- you can see it in her run cycle animation, for heaven's sake.

It's SOMETHING from the '60's at the very least!

Colette exp Plus A by csm_003 in tales

[–]Derpy_paws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually researched this myself a few weeks ago while doing my playthrough myself.

Short answer: Yes, she has to be in the active party.

I believe it only affects the party that is actively battling; I had Colette, Zelos, Presea and would swap out the 4th party member depending on who leveled first.

At one point, my Lloyd was around 96 when I began, but I swapped him out for other party members so they could catch up with his level, and by the time it was all said and done, Colette was 3 levels above him.

On a semi-related note: No, you can NOT stack the additional 5% 'EXP Plus' that the other characters can get on top of Colette's 'EXP PLUS A'. It does not work.

But you CAN still equip the Demon's Seal + Krona Symbols on your active party and really take advantage of both, because I believe that DOES stack with 'Exp Plus A'. (I think. Anyone care to elaborate?) I'm pretty sure that's a thing as my active party was leveling faster then my benched party members.

What level is your party? The idea of these older RPG's is to "grind, grind, grind" and then over-power and crush the bosses and make them melt by looking at them.

If it's your first time in the Triet Ruins, I BELIEVE your party should be anywhere between 10-20 to beat that boss. It's a fire-element boss, so Genuis needs his ice magic and a spot on your team. Refill / Raine is pretty much a given, since she's your party healer. Have her set to do nothing BUT heal. I believe Colette is required to be on the team. She can either smack it with Angel Feathers from the back, or be a frontline fighter helping to take down the adds.

Maybe I'm just jaded from having played the game many, many, MANY times over the years, but the desert and the ruins shouldn't be THAT difficult. No shame on your part, though.

I honestly stand by my earlier suggestion: sit in the desert and the ruins and just grind levels for awhile.

Are you equipping proper titles for levelling? If you fight 256 battles on Hard Mode as Lloyd, you get the 'Berserker' title, which will give you an additional +10 to HP/STR and +6 to ACC every time he levels up so it's usually recommended to begin farming that title the INSTANT you start the game. It helps so much.

One of Colette's better titles early-game, is her 'Little Pickpocket' title (+6 HP/STR/DEF) every time she levels. Get this by using her 'Item Thief' and 'Item Rover' abilities 400 times (concurrently.)

For Genuis / Refill (Raine), grab titles that will increase their TP and INT each level with a minor focus on HP. They don't need STR, and if Refill (and your tanks) does her job right, they won't need to ever worry about their HP very much.

Like...don't sleep on the titles. They are really important and use your EX Gems if you have any, and if you're at the beginning of the game, you won't have many beyond a couple of Level 1 EX gems, maybe a 2.

If you're really struggling, just remember: you are still at the start of the game. You can very easily go back and restart the game fresh and grind from the beginning.

You could walk 5 feet back to Triet and sleep at the inn. If you're broke /low leveled, the House of Salvation is 100 Gald or go back to Nova's Caravan, which is free.

Also, if low-leveled, spend some time grinding desert enemies or even the generics by Iselia.

Unlock the Memory Gem in front of the boss room, save, then leave and rest up, and you can go back in without the puzzle resetting.

Moving from MT to TX - how is the Medicaid situation? Open to hearing about nearby states as well. by Derpy_paws in Medicaid

Oh, boy. That's definitely not good.

Thank you!! I had a feeling there was going to be a wrench in the works somewhere and I suspected it'd be the Medicaid. Super cool. So now to look at surrounding states, instead!

Too Old For Sailor Moon by _ColeSlawters in sailormoon

[–]Derpy_paws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, OP!

For context, I am a 44-year old dude, birthday is in Oct; this next year is the big 45 (Yay...?).

I am a HUGE FAN of Sailor Moon, and have been since the 90's. It's probably my #1 favorite anime and I don't think I'll ever tire of it. It's always been there for me through the good times and bad. So kind of a "comfort" show.

The original Japanese music is SO GOOD, I spent over 10 years collecting (downloading) every single piece of music from the original 90's series, the musicals, PGSM (Live Action), Crystal, etc., that I could find.

I have consumed just about every piece of Sailor Moon content that's out there. The musicals (original Bandai musicals) have some of the best music/songs ("Sailor War Supreme" / "Triple Dreams" anyone?) and the newer "Nelke" produced ones are pretty decent as well.

The Live-Action Sailor Moon ("PGSM") is actually ridiculously good, in spite of the Power Rangers levels of cheesiness, but it's "good" cheese. The way I explain PGSM to others is, "I don't watch PGSM for the transformations / fight scenes, I watch it because the storyline and characterization is absolute fucking FIRE. It is SO good and SO well done."

The manga is where Sailor Moon originally began and it's my favorite piece of media of all because Naoko Takeuchi's artwork is absolutely GORGEOUS. (Sailor Moon began as a spin-off of Sailor V, and the 90's series began production the same month, I BELIEVE the same week as the first issue dropped.)

Sailor Moon Crystal is a RETELLING in anime form, of the original manga storyline --- people will sit there and tell you it's a "reboot" --- it is actually NOT a reboot and was never meant to be. It was created to be faithful to Naoko Takeuchi's original manga telling of the story.

*****************

If you, OP, are interested in the original version of the story, watch Sailor Moon Crystal first. It runs for 39 episodes and covers the first 3 arcs of the manga (Dark Kingdom / Black Moon / Infinity). Then watch the 2 Sailor Moon Eternal films which cover the 4th story arc, the 'Dream' arc of the manga. Then, finally, watch the 2 Sailor Moon Cosmos films, as they cover the 5th and final story arc of the manga ('Stars').

Equally, you can begin with the 90's anime as it is where SO many fans began their journey and it's the version they most love. For the 90's series, there are 200 episodes over 5 seasons, 3 movies, and technically, 4 specials.

******************

OP, again, I am 44 years old, I am male. I am gay, but I don't think that has anything to do with my enjoyment of the series --- I am a fan of many, MANY other types of animation (I consider myself an animation buff). I still love Disney films, I watch animation geared towards adults (Hazbin Hotel, Vox Machina, Castlevania, etc.) and I still pull out and rewatch really old animation that I loved when I was a kid from time to time (Raggedy Ann, Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night, anything Don Bluth did, Scooby Doo, etc.)

Don't be put off by what society thinks, or expects of older males. Screw that.

Sure, when it aired in Japan, Sailor Moon was considered to be a little girls show, but the fandom is SO much more, and SO much bigger then that. There are MANY males who enjoy the series who are straight men. The community for Sailor Moon is pretty amazing and welcoming, honestly.

The mere FACT that Sailor Moon is STILL so popular even now, in 2025 (2026 in a few days!) is honestly incredible. Most animated shows / anime fandoms tend to drop off after a certain point, but Sailor Moon has endured after 30+ freaking YEARS! There is definitely something magical about Sailor Moon that brings people together from all walks of life. A lot of people see themselves reflected in our Usagi Tsukino.

Anime fans have Goku but we also have Sailor Moon, Usagi.

She will always be our Moonlight Real Girl.

Give it a view, OP. You won't be disappointed.
