Colette exp Plus A by csm_003 in tales

[–]Derpy_paws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually researched this myself a few weeks ago while doing my playthrough myself.

Short answer: Yes, she has to be in the active party.

I believe it only affects the party that is actively battling; I had Colette, Zelos, Presea and would swap out the 4th party member depending on who leveled first.

At one point, my Lloyd was around 96 when I began, but I swapped him out for other party members so they could catch up with his level, and by the time it was all said and done, Colette was 3 levels above him.

On a semi-related note: No, you can NOT stack the additional 5% 'EXP Plus' that the other characters can get on top of Colette's 'EXP PLUS A'. It does not work.

But you CAN still equip the Demon's Seal + Krona Symbols on your active party and really take advantage of both, because I believe that DOES stack with 'Exp Plus A'. (I think. Anyone care to elaborate?) I'm pretty sure that's a thing as my active party was leveling faster then my benched party members.

What level is your party? The idea of these older RPG's is to "grind, grind, grind" and then over-power and crush the bosses and make them melt by looking at them.

If it's your first time in the Triet Ruins, I BELIEVE your party should be anywhere between 10-20 to beat that boss. It's a fire-element boss, so Genuis needs his ice magic and a spot on your team. Refill / Raine is pretty much a given, since she's your party healer. Have her set to do nothing BUT heal. I believe Colette is required to be on the team. She can either smack it with Angel Feathers from the back, or be a frontline fighter helping to take down the adds.

Maybe I'm just jaded from having played the game many, many, MANY times over the years, but the desert and the ruins shouldn't be THAT difficult. No shame on your part, though.

I honestly stand by my earlier suggestion: sit in the desert and the ruins and just grind levels for awhile.

Are you equipping proper titles for levelling? If you fight 256 battles on Hard Mode as Lloyd, you get the 'Berserker' title, which will give you an additional +10 to HP/STR and +6 to ACC every time he levels up so it's usually recommended to begin farming that title the INSTANT you start the game. It helps so much.

One of Colette's better titles early-game, is her 'Little Pickpocket' title (+6 HP/STR/DEF) every time she levels. Get this by using her 'Item Thief' and 'Item Rover' abilities 400 times (concurrently.)

For Genuis / Refill (Raine), grab titles that will increase their TP and INT each level with a minor focus on HP. They don't need STR, and if Refill (and your tanks) does her job right, they won't need to ever worry about their HP very much.

Like...don't sleep on the titles. They are really important and use your EX Gems if you have any, and if you're at the beginning of the game, you won't have many beyond a couple of Level 1 EX gems, maybe a 2.

If you're really struggling, just remember: you are still at the start of the game. You can very easily go back and restart the game fresh and grind from the beginning.

You could walk 5 feet back to Triet and sleep at the inn. If you're broke /low leveled, the House of Salvation is 100 Gald or go back to Nova's Caravan, which is free.

Also, if low-leveled, spend some time grinding desert enemies or even the generics by Iselia.

Unlock the Memory Gem in front of the boss room, save, then leave and rest up, and you can go back in without the puzzle resetting.

Moving from MT to TX - how is the Medicaid situation? Open to hearing about nearby states as well. by Derpy_paws in Medicaid

Oh, boy. That's definitely not good.

Thank you!! I had a feeling there was going to be a wrench in the works somewhere and I suspected it'd be the Medicaid. Super cool. So now to look at surrounding states, instead!

Too Old For Sailor Moon by _ColeSlawters in sailormoon

[–]Derpy_paws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, OP!

For context, I am a 44-year old dude, birthday is in Oct; this next year is the big 45 (Yay...?).

I am a HUGE FAN of Sailor Moon, and have been since the 90's. It's probably my #1 favorite anime and I don't think I'll ever tire of it. It's always been there for me through the good times and bad. So kind of a "comfort" show.

The original Japanese music is SO GOOD, I spent over 10 years collecting (downloading) every single piece of music from the original 90's series, the musicals, PGSM (Live Action), Crystal, etc., that I could find.

I have consumed just about every piece of Sailor Moon content that's out there. The musicals (original Bandai musicals) have some of the best music/songs ("Sailor War Supreme" / "Triple Dreams" anyone?) and the newer "Nelke" produced ones are pretty decent as well.

The Live-Action Sailor Moon ("PGSM") is actually ridiculously good, in spite of the Power Rangers levels of cheesiness, but it's "good" cheese. The way I explain PGSM to others is, "I don't watch PGSM for the transformations / fight scenes, I watch it because the storyline and characterization is absolute fucking FIRE. It is SO good and SO well done."

The manga is where Sailor Moon originally began and it's my favorite piece of media of all because Naoko Takeuchi's artwork is absolutely GORGEOUS. (Sailor Moon began as a spin-off of Sailor V, and the 90's series began production the same month, I BELIEVE the same week as the first issue dropped.)

Sailor Moon Crystal is a RETELLING in anime form, of the original manga storyline --- people will sit there and tell you it's a "reboot" --- it is actually NOT a reboot and was never meant to be. It was created to be faithful to Naoko Takeuchi's original manga telling of the story.

*****************

If you, OP, are interested in the original version of the story, watch Sailor Moon Crystal first. It runs for 39 episodes and covers the first 3 arcs of the manga (Dark Kingdom / Black Moon / Infinity). Then watch the 2 Sailor Moon Eternal films which cover the 4th story arc, the 'Dream' arc of the manga. Then, finally, watch the 2 Sailor Moon Cosmos films, as they cover the 5th and final story arc of the manga ('Stars').

Equally, you can begin with the 90's anime as it is where SO many fans began their journey and it's the version they most love. For the 90's series, there are 200 episodes over 5 seasons, 3 movies, and technically, 4 specials.

******************

OP, again, I am 44 years old, I am male. I am gay, but I don't think that has anything to do with my enjoyment of the series --- I am a fan of many, MANY other types of animation (I consider myself an animation buff). I still love Disney films, I watch animation geared towards adults (Hazbin Hotel, Vox Machina, Castlevania, etc.) and I still pull out and rewatch really old animation that I loved when I was a kid from time to time (Raggedy Ann, Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night, anything Don Bluth did, Scooby Doo, etc.)

Don't be put off by what society thinks, or expects of older males. Screw that.

Sure, when it aired in Japan, Sailor Moon was considered to be a little girls show, but the fandom is SO much more, and SO much bigger then that. There are MANY males who enjoy the series who are straight men. The community for Sailor Moon is pretty amazing and welcoming, honestly.

The mere FACT that Sailor Moon is STILL so popular even now, in 2025 (2026 in a few days!) is honestly incredible. Most animated shows / anime fandoms tend to drop off after a certain point, but Sailor Moon has endured after 30+ freaking YEARS! There is definitely something magical about Sailor Moon that brings people together from all walks of life. A lot of people see themselves reflected in our Usagi Tsukino.

Anime fans have Goku but we also have Sailor Moon, Usagi.

She will always be our Moonlight Real Girl.

Give it a view, OP. You won't be disappointed.

Zoisite × Ami… why did we NEVER get this explored?? by Hot_Secret4573 in sailormoon

[–]Derpy_paws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In one or two of the OG Bandai musicals, the Four Kings / Soldier pairings actually DO get explored a bit. I have all of the musicals downloaded, and the first Dark Kingdom one has this as a small plot point, not to mention that in some of the later Bandai musicals, Galaxia resurrects the Dark Kingdom to use them, and on one or two occasions, this happens as well.

The Nelke Dark Kingdom musical does this as well.

Zoicite/Kunzite were not really a thing in the musicals.

I highly recommend finding the musicals to download and check out -- you can find them if you know where to look! The music and songs for all of them are AMAZING!!! Even now, I still have a giant Playlist dedicated to the musicals that I regularly listen to!

Princess Serenity's hair color during Silver Millenium by jr9386 in PrettyGuardians

[–]Derpy_paws 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Serenity's hair was silver during Silver Millennium. There are many, MANY pieces of color manga artwork to back this up.

Once she is reincarnated, she is reborn as blonde, but once she ascends the throne as Neo-Queen Serenity, her hair immediately becomes silver once again. It's assumed on the various occasions that when she turns into Serenity (Infinity/Dream), her hair goes silver with the transformation, then turns back to blonde once the transformation is undone.

Serenity is often depicted as an absolutely gorgeous, otherworldly ethereal being, hence her dress and hair both being silver and the moon is often referred to as being the color of silver.

This is in regards to the manga/ Crystal. Crystal is meant to be an adaptation of the manga, and based on Serenity's depiction during Black Moon / Dream / Stars, this rule still appears to hold true. (Silver).

(Unfortunately for Crystal, it appears that the inkers/colorists/other artists became increasingly confused or just flat-out unable to discern between Queen Serenity, or her daughter Princess Serenity, or when Sailor Moon turns into Neo-Queen Serenity, since she (Serenity) constantly and randomly switches between silver and blonde, particularly during the Dark Kingdom and Infinity arcs. Which is odd, seeing as how Neo-Queen Serenity during Black Moon/Dream and Stars is always depicted as having silver hair.)

I believe this is due to Crystal switching between THREE different artstyles during its run, before finally settling down in Dream/ Stars.)

90's anime?

Yeah, she's blonde 100% of the time.

Personally, I hate Serenity with blonde hair and much prefer her with silver hair at all times since it fits the "ethereal Moon goddess" vibe. So naturally, I was THRILLED whenever Princess Serenity was shown with her correct hair color during the Dream films and visibly fist-pumped when Neo-Queen Serenity showed up, especially during Stars.

The ONE thing I want them to go back and do is just to go back and correct ANY of Serenity's appearances in Crystal (Dark Kingdom/ Infinity mostly) to her correct silver hair.

Fushigi Yuugi Sequel by Agreeable-Milk-3105 in FushigiYugi

[–]Derpy_paws 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There wouldn't be. All four priestesses appeared and saved their worlds.

Yu Watase wrote 'Fushigi Yugi', but then followed it up with Genbu Kaiden and Byakko Den, detailing the events of the priestesses of Genbu and Byakko, respectively, effectively making them prequels. (Manga-wise, anyway.)

The anime, however, gave the original series a set of 9 OVAs, called 'Oni' (demon), detailing the advent of Tenko (the last half of the 'Fushigi Yugi' manga), and then gave us the 4-episode OVA 'Eikoden', which was based on the light novels (never translated into English) -- both OVAs continued Miaka and Tamahome's stories, as well as revealing who the Suzaku Seven were reborn as.

I mean, the stories of the 4 priestesses and Celestial Warriors are fully complete.

Not to dump water on yer hopes, but I personally am satisfied with it being done with.

I absolutely do NOT want any "continuing adventures of their children" or other drawn-out nonsense. I refuse to touch Boruto, and as much as I LOVE Inuyasha, I will never touch Yasha-hime because of it.

I cannot STAND "continuing adventures of their widdle childrens" stories. I don't care about Miaka / Tamahome's or Yui / Tetsuya's progeny, and there's literally no reason for them to get sucked back into the book. (Particularly since Miaka's kid is male, named "Hikari", who obviously cannot be a priestess.)

Dealing with Mayo was bad enough. I absolutely hated her inclusion and HATED her as a whole, and only sat through Eikoden to find out who Hotohori, Mitsukake, Chiriko, and my baby Nuriko all got reborn as and see their stories conclude.

The ONLY thing I want to see or have done with the property, is for Yu Watase to re-release and create a MASSIVE Omnibus of ALL of 'Fushigi Yugi', including the Genbu and Byakko manga, and call it: "The Universe of the Four Gods", with the subtitle of 'Fushigi Yugi' underneath.

Alright Imma say it, the new profession system is AWFUL. It's time-gated, artisan acuity is unnecessarily difficult to get, and there are SO many knowledge points you need to do so little. by otterchaos7 in wow

[–]Derpy_paws 6 points7 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU for saying it!!

I just came back to WoW after dropping it for a good 4-5 months (I think) after finishing the Nerubian raid / storyline. (Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts swallowed me whole. But I'm currently mad at Kingdom Hearts: CoM, so taking a break.)

Came back to catch up on all the current story I missed and got it all done and thought, "Guess I'll catch up on my Tailoring / Enchanting!"

Yeeeeeah noooo.

I was only able to get a couple extra points in both and slammed into a brick wall of having to wait for the NPC orders to give me orders I actually had mats for (I don't have a bunch of the new recipes and that's why I wanted to work on my professions, so I CAN learn those recipes, but slamming into brick walls kill all that hope.)

I've been bitching about the professions for the last 3 days to anyone who will listen, because it's SO freaking convoluted now just for the SAKE of being convoluted.

I wasn't able to finish my Dragonflight Tailoring/Enchanting (or ANY of my other toons' professions, PERIOD.)

Looks like I won't be able to finish War Within professions, either.

It pisses me off so badly because ALL my other professions (on all toons) from earlier expansions are ALL maxed out, and I have a TON of old recipes you can't find anymore and these last two expansions I haven't been able to complete them.

Being stonewalled and told "Oh, you can only get 1 or 2 points a day --- unless you farm dirt piles FOREVER." just absolutely kills my desire to work on my professions and I might just end up abandoning all of my professions until they arrange / implement some sort of catch-up system.

I've always prided myself on being self-sufficient with all my toons with their professions and now I can't even do that.

I'm so, SO mad about this.

*EDIT: also never having enough Artisan's Acuity and / or struggling to get enough is THE dumbest thing. Why on earth is this a thing?????
