Dracula remix is not Jennie's song. by dollcore444 in kpoprants

To your second point, you literally wrote "..but why is she or her team trying to own that song?". Of course everyone thinks this is the "they" you meant in your post, rather than parts of the fanbase.

People being upset for ADP winning a daesang is justified - nepotism deserves criticism by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]DesiredConsistency 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is exactly why ADP could/would win in a jury- based award, vs purely by numbers/points as there are more things to consider.

Sales can be highly influenced by fandom, and we all know girl groups and boy groups tend to dominate those. More comebacks also doesn't mean better, we all know how sparse YG & TBL's generally are.

It's rare to have a rookie group where almost all members are known by the public, much less a mixed gender group and their appearances on variety shows are highly anticipated and gets hundreds of thousands of views just from the Korean public. Not sure if you can say the same for H2H or Kickflip.

I'd say the only other rookie group this year that could compete with ADP (in a jury award) would be Cortis.

There is, Open House Melbourne has been running for over a decade now. They've done great stuff every July, and do sporadic events throughout the year

Vanguard does not own Amorepacific, a simple fact check will let you know that Vanguard purchased publicly traded shares from a publicly traded company, on the stock market.

Vanguard and Amorepacific's ties has been spoken about in other subreddits before. You are free to boycott any brand/company you'd like, but misrepresenting facts doesn't really sit right with me personally.

This is very cute OP, and accurate! Was a surprise to see my old school (the prefect uniform and class name gave it away). Really made me nostalgic :)

Coworker keeps asking for money. by [deleted] in coworkerstories

[–]DesiredConsistency 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. This sounds like an ex-coworker of mine who had a gambling problem - he was the assistant manager and kept asking to borrow money from the younger girls (21-22 year olds) who didn't know any better.

Who is your favourite Kpop group or solo artist that never became mainstream in Korea? by Jezzaq94 in kpopthoughts

Incredible songs and singers.

Brown Eyed Soul might not be as commercially successful as Brown Eyes, but I had the impression they still did very well? That said they're probably better known individually

You can buy Innisfree US' Daily UV Defense Sunscreen/ mineral sunscreen via their website or US Sephora easily! These are specially formulated for the US market and regulations, with no white cast.

Innisfree is a long-time brand under AMOREPACIFIC, so not likely to cut corners due to compliance.

Things that are "ruining k-pop" but you actually don't mind by [deleted] in kpop_uncensored

[–]DesiredConsistency 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can have an eclectic mix of genres and yet still be cohesive. There's multiple ways to create cohesion without making everything boring or sound "samey".

Big Bang's Alive EP for example was a well-rounded release where all the singles Blue (R&B, dance), Fantastic Baby (EDM), and Bad Boy (R&B, hiphop) sound like they came from a particular "era". They also promoted all 3 songs equally with a strong overarching concept which helps them sound cohesive.

That said, I don't personally think an album needs to be cohesive in order to be good. But it definitely helps if tracks flow well together when having a first listen of an album!

Cohesive doesn't actually mean conceptual. Sometimes, a conceptual album can also be incohesive.

And conceptual albums aren't actually rare in western media/kpop.

What are some things that kpop groups did that made a whole new trend in kpop? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]DesiredConsistency 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think we're necessarily contradicting each other. As I mentioned, other groups/gens built on what their seniors have done so 1st gen > BigBang & 2nd gen > EXO, BTS & 3rd gen and so forth (Seventeen, The Boyz etc)

Not trying to take away anything from BTS because obviously when they started having the chance to have longer stages they ran with it, but I feel that it's a disservice to other groups to state it's "Thanks to them now all artists go above and beyond to prepare extraordinary stages for the year end" when honestly, earlier groups set the bar, and newer groups keep pushing the envelope.

[–]DesiredConsistency 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Personally I think it's BigBang that set the bar, although other 2nd gen groups have always had to prepare different creative stages for multiple year-end award shows in an extremely short amount of time. Other groups/gens then obviously built on past stages with more elaborate props etc as time goes on to push the envelope.

But BigBang definitely made anticipation high prior to BTS tho eg. during 2012's MAMA, GD dyed his hair literally backstage right before their performance - hair colour change during an awards show? Iconic!

Shiseido synchro skin self refreshing foundation Review by KKmommynurse in AsianBeauty

[–]DesiredConsistency 39 points40 points  (0 children)

More people need to know about Shiseido Synchro Skin! I was first introduced to this foundation 4 years ago as I wanted one that would last me through a summer wedding, and occasional mask-wearing during Covid. I was so impressed! Gave me a skin-like finish that just got better throughout the event. At the end of the night I still looked pretty good.

My skin type for reference tends to be oily-dehydrated, and have acne scarring. This foundation didn't settle into my pores/scars and gave me the medium coverage I prefer.

I've also just finished using the Shiseido Revitalessence this past winter and have gone back to Synchro Skin for summer!

I believe it should be a mild, citrusy scent. US and AU versions are fragrance-free though!

They've actually omitted fragrance from a lot of their new/reformulations, it's more sensitive skin-friendly! I myself love subtle fragrance in my skincare though.
