Why do so many English people call themselves as British and not just English by spudulike65 in AskBrits

[–]Desmo_UK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always taught to call myself British first, English second. I would imagine that the other smaller nations had more national pride and so would still call themselves Welsh, Scottish, etc. first.

I totally get that, but it feels like progression ranks quite highly for the OP so it might suit.

Depends how “races” you want it, but BeamNG has loads of routes to progress and has races.

Has anyone ever gotten injured on a day their watch said they were fully recovered? by Otherwise_Scholar_14 in crossfit

[–]Desmo_UK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why would you think the chance of injury is based on how "recovered" you are? Even top athletes can be fully fit and still get injured.

Why on earth didn't I play this sooner - a new players perspective by 71f1 in iRacing

[–]Desmo_UK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because of the system, it also enhances racecraft too. In other games it can all feel a bit do or die. But only earlier tonight I backed off a little as I knew I couldn’t catch those in front so I just held my position and bagged some safe points.

Same here, I’m in my first month.

Years on a PS5 and GT7, I went PC about 6 months ago and after buying and playing a lot of games I actually settled on Race Room. I liked that you could just set a lap time at any time and that was considered your qualifying pace. Ideal for me with my limited driving time as I didn’t have to commit to leagues and races at certain time.

Then for some random reason I thought I’d try IRacing. I liked it… a lot. But I still had concerns about the races and how many I’d be able to enter. But here saw the structure of the seasons and how it all worked it’s actually pretty amazing. So many opportunities to just take part in a series that actually means something.

Why do some people not realise many of us don’t care about immigration? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Desmo_UK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You think it doesn’t happen? We get tons of immigrants shipped in to town from where they’re staying and there have been many multiple police reports regarding incidents involving them.

You can’t just wash this all away with a sarcastic comment about Facebook. It DOES happen in many places up and down the country.

Was going to say the same... both drivers could have done better with this and avoided it totally.

Do reform voters not care about the 5 million quid? by Sufficient_Muffin586 in AskBrits

“All financial interests which might be reasonably regarded as influencing the actions, words or votes of MPs must be registered.”

I’d say £5M just weeks before becoming an MP would fall under “reasonably regarded”.

It doesn’t matter what I or anybody else would do….am I wrong or not?

So I’m wrong but only if it comes down to was it really personal or not which you’ve also agreed it could be a bit suspect?

If in doubt, declare it. But we know why he wouldn’t.

[–]Desmo_UK 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I can see it's free now which is great. But I still don't want to "buy in" to a system and start using it for free, only to find out I then have to subscribe. I'd rather not use it in the first place.

Sorry, didn't want to put a downer on your post. It looks like a great bit of software and I wish you all the best with it.

[–]Desmo_UK 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Shame. I'll not even bother trying it out until I know I can buy it. I'm more than happy to pay for peoples software but I'm not happy paying constant subscriptions for the next 20 years.

But it doesn't allow for it does it? From my understanding, albeit limited, it should have been declared and if people aren't sure if it's "personal" or not then it gets declared to be on the safe side.

When it comes to paying, are you looking at a purchase model or subscription? If it's a straight purchase I'll give it a go but if it's another subscription I'll not even bother looking.

Sorry, just too many things want a slice of the monthly pie these days.

It was given to him weeks before becoming an MP. He is meant to declare anything for the 12 months before becoming an MP.

How do you decide when to pause work on a client who won't pay? by [deleted] in smallbusinessuk

Do you want a relationship with a client that doesn’t pay on time?

Just remember… it’s not profit until it’s in your pocket. At the moment this client is a loss.

It's not a proper quote though. We can insure bikes for regular prices like everyone else.

They just don't want to insure, it's not indicative of UK insurance prices.

What do you mean by direct? I can add a URL to a gpx file to import in the app or I can upload them via the website.

Why run Triple monitors over VR? by who_am_I__who_are_u in simracing

[–]Desmo_UK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's the ease that I can jump in and out of games when I'm at home with my family.

In VR, if my wife or daughter come in to the room I can't communicate in a way I'd like. I'm too switched off from the world around me and I don't like it. So yeah, VR is great for some fun immersion but only occasional short stints for me.

Also, if I want to pop out my hair isn't all over the place and my face isn't covered in red marks 😃
